No, no. Ignore Leon's costume. That should not be considered the final texture at all.

Yeah, it's not final. I like the direction, though. It doesn't scream in your face. A little less "undersea diver" and I think you've got something great there.
 
It's incredible the increased amount of perceived depth you get from these. Things that at one point looked like super flat planes with low res textures pasted on top actually start looking like their own 3D geometry when viewed at a typical angle. It's a huge difference and big quality increase.

I wish there was a 3d artist (and a shader guy) doing modding work on this as dedicated as you guys are. Up the poly count on the low-poly objects, add some fancy-schmancy shading tricks here and there and this would look like a RE7 (with less ridiculous action)

Yeah, I'm with you on this. There are a lot of areas where some subtle changes to geometry and shaders and the like would really bring RE4 into the modern era without tampering with the soul of the game.

The main thing after texture work that it really needs is a lighting overhaul. Some kind of dynamic lighting and shadows would be one of the biggest improvements it could see but I'm assuming that's rather difficult, if not impossible to do for this game. Even if it were, it would probably take a lot of work to make sure it still stays true to the looks of the game somehow.

I really like that texture on the shirt, I can dig it.
 
I'm not sure I would even want to play RE4 again (for like the sixth time) if this project was never finished. You cannot unsee what's been seen. This work is so unbelievably good.

edit - my reply was a bit harsh, I played the original on GC so I greatly appreciate the work that was put into making the game 1080p, but some of the default textures, yikes. I'm just glad we have you guys working on actual HD textures that really make the game look amazing.

The PC port has updated textures which are a mix of new art and upscaled/filtered textures, but also lets you select the original GCN textures which is what you're seeing here. crisdecuba specifically stated earlier that all comparisons are with the original GCN textures.
 
Amazing job so far, you guys are the only reason I'm going to buy the game again, and of course I'm going to send you guys a donation.
 
The Chimera looks bloody spectacular! It's one of the parts of the game where low resolution textures always bothered me the most, what you guys did with it is a dream come true.
Though I'd say it wouldn't hurt to make the seams between the parts a bit more visible, as right now it looks a bit as if they were welded together before being inserted into the door.
 
Are character textures last on the list? I remember seeing some one mod for the old port that gave leon ultra high quality hair with strands and stuff. Dunno if it's still floating about.

My only hesitation with a project like this is that, in the process of bringing higher def textures to RE4, some of the grime and dirt that we assume is part of the original low res textures will be lost in the process, making it look something like RE5 in how antiseptic it will feel.
