Resident Evil 6 for PS4 & XB1 |OT| Was it always this awesome?

I'm up to Leon 3 now and feel like changing to another campaign. But would I lose ammo I have accumulated when I come back to the Leon campaign?

No, each campaign has a seperate inventory, you can switch without problems. The only thing you shouldn't do is switch between characters in the middle of a campaign. If you started as Leon and suddenly pick Helena, all she has is her starting equipment, until you finish the campaign with her as well.

I think they slightly nerfed the bosses in a post-release patch, and that probably carried over to this version.

Ah, that would explain it. Cool. Think the changes are for the better as the bosses used to get tedious. Although, just finished the final boss on Chris' campaign and that took some time. My partner ended up quitting on me just before I beat it lol. Their loss.

Thanks.

I've forgotten a lot about the game since I only played it once.

I am playing split screen coop with my roommate and I am encountering this annoying bug. After every mission I spend my skill points and none of my skills save, and I assume that they do not carry over into the next mission. If I play one level I will buy my skills, play another level and find my skill points refunded with my skills unbought. My roommate is not having this issue though, anyone encounter this issue?

I'm on Xbox if that makes a difference.

The battle outside the church in Leon 2 is still a pain in the ass.

OK it wasn't so bad when I just started running around avoiding every tough enemy.

Incendiary grenades seem to kill the mutated zombies in one hit. Helped out a ton when fighting them.

You can also try counter attacking the Bloodshots. If you learn how to do that consistently, areas like these will be a cakewalk going forward. It's even easier now that the game is 60 frames.

Forced camera moments are worse than forced walking sections. Especially when the game keeps moving and you're still being attacked while the camera is focused on some door/switch/downed parter or some shit.

Forced camera is RE6's worst sin. Worse than vehicle sections even.

Yes. Vehicle sections are annoying to play, but forced camera movements when the game keeps playing (and enemies keep attacking you) is the worst design decision in the entire game. How could anyone during the production stage not considered this a problem is beyond me.

Learn how to counterattack Bloodshots - you will find the ability very useful in Mercenaries. It might seem difficult at the beginning, but when you do it few times, you will be able to counterattack them every single time (unless they attack you from offscreen).

Zombie maps in Mercenaries mode will eventually spawn a lot of Bloodshots. It's a good way to learn how to counter their attacks.

I'm on Chris 3 now and for some reason this game seems better than when I played it in 2012. I like how bloodthirsty Chris is after regaining his memories.

I feel like if this was a single payer only game,(no partner on screen like resident evil 4) they could have incorporated psycho traumatic stress in his campaign. Kinda like how Dead Space 2 did it. I remember those being visceral moments.

A lot of things could have been used to elevate the story of this game I feel.

Fortunately, that's the worst chapter in the entire game. There are few sections that are bad, but nothing as bad as the whole chapter 2 in Jake's campaign.

I had a thought while playing Leon's last 3 chapters that this game is like the biggest, most expensive B-tier action game ever made, so Jake Chapter 2 is definitely the other side of that compliment. The super janky and poor game design that keeps the game planted firmly in the B-tier, and makes you wonder what the hell Capcom was doing.

How can a game that plays so well when they keep it simple get so many things wrong? The game is really bad at big "cinematic" set-pieces. When it's just being an action game using the core mechanics against standard enemies and mini-bosses it's actually a lot of fun.

These are just gratuitous controls. You really need to go out of your way to do these things in RE6.

I'd argue the controls needed a lot of trimming.Just a lot of stuff you dont need.

Nah the combat options are great. Easily the best part of this game. It can be a bit more input heavy that most third person shooters, but it feels really good to use correctly. The game's biggest failing is not designing more scenarios that take advantage of the player's arsenal. Losing them in RE7 (which will no doubt happen after the reception of RE6) will be a shame.

It might seem that way, but when you play it, sliding, jumping on your back, planting C4, counterattacks etc. become like a second nature. You just do it intuitively, without even thinking about buttons you have to press. It's like fighting games - after a while you're just doing combos without thinking about button sequences.

Welcome to RE6, a game that really shows that "less is more" rule is true. If only they trim some of the unnecessarily content, the game would be much better.

Question for the RE6 veterans:

I absolutely loved playing RE5 in co-op with a buddy who was another Resident Evil nut and we had a really great pace for the whole game. I kinda never got into giving RE6 a chance when it originally came out due to all the negativity but I'd love to give it a shot since it's one of my favourite series.

Problem being I don't really have any co-op buddy for this so would it be better to go in solo or with random internet matchmaking or whatever it is called. I'd like to take my time with the game and not rush but I'm wondering if the AI is gameruining or something. So basically go solo or random netplay?

nah the AI in RE6 is better then RE5, they are kinda just "there" they don't spoil it or anything. They don't go mental on ammo or health kits either. Just go Solo.

Unlike RE5 the Partner AI doesn't need any baby sitting. They have infinite health and ammo. However their damage output seems reduced from the RE5 days. Still no situation I was in was ever a problem due to playing solo. Also random net play is always a toss up, since some people regardless of what you put the room as want to rush and such. So you're just at the mercy of who joins your game.

Mercenaries no mercy alone warrants this cheap price point, it is a stupid amount of fun with a friend.

I tried the other multiplayer modes that were dlc in the other game and they are really fun also. I look forward to replaying 5 next.

Indeed, some of the most fun I had last gen and something console owners missed out on at first.
The gameplay really shines.

AI partner in RE6 is way, way better.

Had no issues playing with it even on the highest difficulties.

I've been struggling with counters, I think because I'm holding L2 so much that I don't hit R2 in time for the counter.

There's a trick to make them much easier.

Aim with a weapon when waiting to counter and when they attack let go of aim and start tapping the melee button.

During the window when your character puts the gun down after you stop aiming, he/she can't do a melee attack but that doesn't stop a counter from triggering. Mashing the melee button during this time increases your chances of a counter but a lot.

It's kind of similar to using the jumping trick in DMC to make parrying easier.

Getting quick dodges with the Dual Shock 4 and its big, spongy triggers is going to take some getting used to. I found the 360 controller much better suited for this game.

Otherwise, damn it's a good port. Some minor colour differences, but I can overlook that.

AI have unlimited ammo and can't die. It's like playing solo. Just completed professional run with the AI. They do a relatively good job at saving you too. Been better than any person i've matchmaked with.

The darkness issue is really spoiling my enjoyment. Don't like messing about with TV/PS4 settings just for one game when everything else is calibrated perfectly :(

I had the same issue but if you keep tapping the right side of the touch pad a menu pops up eventually.

Cool, I'll try that.

Thanks, i just switched it on and it didn't work anyway lol

While there's an option to enable or disable it from the very beginning, you actually need to equip the infinite ammo skill, for it to actually work and you can only buy that skill after you've finished all campaigns. Also, there are seperate infinite ammo skills for each weapon type, so keep that in mind.

AI in this game is in fact fairly non-annoying. They don't waste ammo and you don't have to baby sit them. In fact, some sections of the game actually have AI scripting, where the AI acts in a particular way due to story!

When does the game let you change the aiming controls -_-

The intro section was ridiculous

Noone likes the intro section. It's really bad.

Anyone else running into AI just standing around doing nothing until you attack them? I was getting it pretty frequently in the tenement section of Chris chapter 1

Unless they fixed it in the remaster, couch co-op is really inconvenient though, as you get shared ammo and health drops, so you only get half the ressources you'd get while playing either solo or online co-op. (Were both players get completly seperate, individual item drops.)

And unlike RE5 you can't give ammo and other items to your buddy, due to how the system works online.

Last post I'll make on this but I sorted it. I tried messing about with the rgb range but as it was perfect for everything else is was unlikely to be the solution. I simply upped the back light to max and it became as it was meant to be. Ive got no idea why Resi 6 has this issue though as other dark games such as Bloodborne and Outlast are all more than fine with my calibrated settings but at least it's sorted without having to wait for a patch.

You can give ammo to your partner during splitscreen. You don't even need to be close to eachother.
