Does Capcom even make new games this generation outside of Street Fighter? And I'm not even counting Dead Rising 3 which was made here in the west.

The console output of most Japanese gaming companies has slowed significantly. I assume its because of the rising costs of development and dwindling Japanese console sales.

Capcom- Remember how RE 6 was a disappointment last gen? Well surely it will be a huge hit this new gen.

It's worth noting that RE6 was a big commercial hit last gen, just not a critical one. And after this (looking very likely) re-release, it could actually become Capcom's biggest-selling game since it's only 600k away from that mark as of now.

Considering how much worse the textures in RE6 are compared to RE5 I wonder if they were generated that way or if they just downgraded the texture quality for space and performance reasons.

I think the crap textures are a combination of the incredibly large workload and the refinements made to MT Framework at the time to prioritise lighting. Dragon's Dogma used a similar version of the engine which sucked up a lot of the ram, so compromises had to be made, hence most of the detail going into the character models.

Thank you,I should of rephrased that to for XB1/PS4/PC that's NOT REMASTERS? And do we really know if Deep Down is not shovelware at this point? Also my bad fellow Gaffers,I forgot Dragons Dogma Online, though I think is a safe title its still a next gen title none the least.

EDIT: I also know Dead Rising is considered Capcom,I meant as in Japanese releases of next gen games.

I don't know, I just feel that complaining about Capcom releasing new games in a Resident Evil thread of all things just seems weird, considering how many Resident Evil games are in the pipeline, how many have come out in the last few years. While I personally don't mind it, Resident Evil is like, Capcom's most active series right now. Yes, there's been remasters, but those have been good, and even ignoring those, we're getting something like four-five new Resident Evil games in the span of 3-4 years, which is a record high for the series, and that's not even including any of the HD Remasters.

I don't give a shit about survival horror anymore ( I wish they'd stop making them) , but I'm glad this is coming out again. For the bitter fans in this thread as well.

Hopefully they fix some things like removing a lot of QTE's, that'd be nice.

They made them automatic long ago.

Capcom's most active series right now.

Most definitely. In a lot of ways, they're more or less the Biohazard/Resident Evil company and have been ever since the first game bailed them out of financial trouble. They're not about to squander the 20th anniversary, particularly when it's likely they'll have RE7 ready this year. Putting out a bunch of ports can only do them more good than bad.

The best re? Yall are delusional. Its the WORST re.

That would arguably be Operation Raccoon City.

It's disingenuous. People don't care, they want to rag on Capcpom. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of things wrong that Capcom has done but they get way to much shit with regards to RE.

I feel like RE6 would be a much more incredible experience if the characters didn't turn on a dime and if there was no dash button. I mean, I actually miss walking in this game! The sprinting speed by pushing the analog stick should have been the maximum character speed while still providing full control (I wish I could map it to the dash button instead).

The player never appreciates the level design because you're running everywhere. It's oddly the first game where I felt it was too fast. The PS3 controller has ten points of motion, but CAPCOM didn't add any natural transitions, so you gently push it, 1-2 you walk, 3 - you RUN. How fucking awesome was it to walk and digest your surroundings in RE4 and RE5? tsk

I will only buy it if it has proper full-width split screen.

Shitty, stupid, tiny off-set split screens is fucking retarded (an adjective I hesitate to use).

They're not going to get rid of the best co-op splitscreen technique in existence, sorry.

Just give us the modern collection.

4/5/6. Pls capcom. Pretty pls.

Throw in code veronica and by the time RE2make comes out we'll have the whole series under 1 roof (not including pc obviously).

It would be really awesome if this came in a collection with the other mainline PS3/Xbox 360 RE games (4, 5, R1, CVX), but I'm not expecting that.

I love RE6 and I think it gets way too much shit. It has problems but they aren't the problems that everyone usually brings up when talking about it.

The main problem with Resident Evil 6 is that they have 4 separate campaigns. This shouldn't be a thing. There should have been ONE campaign that takes you through the story in chronological order in instances where some of the character groups intermingle you should get the opportunity to pick what group to side with.

Having to replay sections over and over going through the same 3 campaigns does lead to fatigue really quickly. I do think though that the Ada mission should be locked away as an epilogue.

Other than that and some other minor issues I have I think RE6 is great the combat is WAY more fluid and dynamic than any of the previous games. The half-steps they took with action combat in RE4 and RE5 didn't do them any favors. They finally wholly embraced that the franchise is now an action game. I will never understand the vitriol that the game gets.

I still have hope that RE2make will come included with a Jill scenario and they'll just make it one big Raccoon City collection.

And I have fears that it will be included in a season pass
Hey, that would still be great. I'd rather have to pay extra, than not have it.

Oh please put up RE5 and allow us to play as Wesker/Jill in the campaign.

As for RE6....eh...um....eek. Will be a bit fun in co-op tho.

Thats true. I feel like RE2 being so short and RE3 re-using a lot of RE2 assets makes it seem like an easy fit to add additional value. Either way I would love a Jill campaign.

Just make the mercenaries hd already Capcom. pls.

None of this Umbrella corps crap. Or a modern collection. Or both.

They switched to deferred lighting with 6 IIRC which was one of the reasons for the textures. I also thought I read something about performance also limiting the campaign outfits.

Can't go back to 5 and 4 after the freedom of controls and movement in 6. Stiff boring stuff in 5 and 4. 6 ruined them for me.

Gifs like this make me wish RE6 was just a straight up brawler, espeically since the gunplay was so unsatisfying.

The moment I realized something had gone horribly wrong with this game's direction was during Chris's campaign, in chapter 2. I looked at the screen in confusion - was I still playing a Resident Evil game, or some sort of SWAT game? I honestly couldn't tell anymore. That was the moment when Resident Evil died to me.

Then Revelations 2 brought it back from the dead.

Never played RE6 because I saw clips of the Leon portion and saw that the American flags were backwards. If they ever fix that I'm in.

i triple dipped: ps3/360/pc
honestly, i couldn't play it co-op on my ps3, (i got it for 360 as a friend wanted to co-op but the same we never did) )bc the framerate and clutter @ times. pretty frustrating.

but once it got it for pc i thought it was pretty enjoyable and finished it.

i'll get it for ps4 if it gets to 10 bucks.

Yay, the same hyperbolic shit from every RE6 thread is already here.

It's not hyperbole.

Mechanically is RE6 a good game? Yes, not many argue that it isn't, but they should have made a new IP.

See, not only is it 'different', it goes so far as to be the antithesis of RE. They took a series where the main gameplay element was that ammo was your lifeline and you couldn't go anywhere near enemies, and somehow with RE6 it wound up being a melee fest where you gladly wrassle everything in sight and guns are just 'there'. This isn't the case in even RE4 or 5. RE6 is the complete opposite of RE. Given that it's such a drastic change, such statements naturally follow.

It's not just that they changed the story or the pacing, killed off a character, added peripheral mechanics, or sexed it up like what happens to most franchises over time.

They gave the RE series a heart transplant. It's not hyperbole, when you think about what the series was and now is in terms of mechanics, RE and RE6, they're diametrically opposed.

It's no wonder people hate it.

Yes it is.

Why? 5 was the most action packed RE up to that point, and it was Capcom's best selling game ever. It only made sense commercially to go deeper with the action route.

RE4 and 5 (especially 5) had already changed up the gameplay to the point where the encounter and enemy design were at odds with the "survival" gameplay. From there, you had two options: either go back to the classic gameplay, or make it a full action game. Considering the success of 5, it's not hard to figure out why 6 turned out like this.

The last "classic" RE came out in 2002. RE6 came out 10 years later.

Give me a fucking break.

Pretty surreal to hear this from someone who claims that an OTS viewpoint better suits what RE 'is about' than fixed camera angles.

I still hope this will actually have some new content. Even a single new character for Mercenaries mode would probably make me buy it.

2004, Resident Evil Outbreak File 2 came out in 2004, and while that has online, I consider that true to the classic Resident Evils. It's quite good.

And I hope the rumors that a Resident Evil Outbreak HD is happening, along with the RE6 HD thing.

I still hope this will actually have some new content. Even a single new character for Mercenaries mode would probably make me buy it.

You and me both. I would love if they did some post-release DLC like the Gold Edition content from RE5. That was some of the best parts of RE5.

Re4 already started to Prioritize melee and then RE5 expanded it in a big way.
