Resident Evil 7 Spoiler Thread

Taking on Jack's final form on Madhouse and he's the first real challenge since Chainsaw Mia. Like, literally, nothing else has killed me except the two fatties that Lucas sends after you and that was only one death because I experimented with using the circular saw on them for fun. That didn't work out.

I'll give Jack another run tomorrow. Honestly, I like Madhouse A LOT more than the vanilla difficulties.

Yeah, just finished my first playthrough in around seven hours of time, and I picked Zoe. I'm going to have a run through the game again in a week or so, but until then, have we figured out what the final phone vibration is in the Zoe ending? Sorry if it's been asked before but I've been avoiding this thread until I beat the game.

Also, that's totally HUNK. Not a chance it's Chris.

Ok so I've never played a RE game prior to this and I just beat it in three sittings and kind of loved it. Which games in this series should I try out and which version of them?

I also understand that maybe the things that make 7 unique in the series might be the reason I liked it so much but it would be silly of me not to try some of the older games out.

I was watching Eazy Allies' playthrough of the game, and Kyle's thoughts regarding whether or not Redfield is really Chris or not are exactly my own thoughts as well. He said that only the people who are actually heroes within games can get a dlc called "Not a Hero" lol. It's the old "I'm not a hero, never was, never will be" cliche mindset that heroes always have, and this most certainly applies to Chris, especially if he's joined a reformed Umbrella now.

I don't really know though. I mean, this guy definitely does not resemble Chris much, but neither does Chris in REmake resemble the one in 5.

if you like also the original one for pc/ps1
RE2,3 and Code Veronica all of them on ps3 or whatever platform you on

Resident Evil HD Remaster, RE2, and RE4. If you like the first two, do the rest.

First, try the HD remaster of the Resident Evil remake. It's the definitive version of the best game with classic RE gameplay, and RE7 borrows a lot from it.

Then give Resident Evil 4 a shot, also the recent HD remaster. Kicked off a dramatic change in the RE series, but it's one of the best action games of all time.

If you're hungry for more, then just keep trying out games of both the separate RE gameplay styles.

What about Jill:

It's weird how so many are surprised that a major game franchise would redesign their characters. This happens all the time in game franchises, ESPECIALLY regarding the RE series.

Plus like every character except the Claire (voiced perfectly by the wonderful Alyson Court) has had different voices throughout the series.

Nope, if you were infected you'd grow a new one. It's stated that it's the healing potion.

Eh, you first see little girl Evie in the old house. That kind of hints that by that point you are in the early stages of infection/control.

You don't regrow a new one because you have mutated / evolved that far and it probably expends less energy to reattach than to regenerate.

Is anyone else disappointed that we never got to explore the entire house? After replaying the game, it seems clear that we only explored the back half and the barn add-on plus most of the back yard. But when looking at the house while standing in the back yard, over on the left is a section that is never explored(?). And we never even see the front door, which would imply there's probably another living room somewhere in there and who knows how many more rooms. Unless I missed it somewhere. Was the demo area (and also where you fight Mia, where the sewer gators got got, etc) the front part of the house? Because it looked like once you approached the front gate you walked quite a ways through the swamp and ended up in another smaller house further out on the property. Hmmm....

Just finished tonight, says 17 hours...but I took my sweet time and did a bit of reloading .

This is my favorite RE since RE2, and that ending with Chris, oh boy!

They also left a few loose hands for potential dlc or sequels, like where the heck is Lucas? Cause you never catch him and it seems Ethan just forgets about him by the end of the game.

Also what about the Zoe? With no Serum what's going to happen to her once Evie is gone? Will she still mutate or what?

the left part is the part where you go through the first scorpion door and downstairs. the first house is the guest house (standing on the map)

You have to make sure Jack as far away enough to get into the car and start the engine.

I think if you grab the keys at the beginning of the fight and jump into the car while Jack is attacking the police officer you can get into the vehicle and start the car.
I love how if you don't get the car, Jack impatiently rips the roof off and drives it himself, using it against you and doing donuts in the garage.

From my experience with th game... Cool things I wanted to point out...

Some mention of the more obscure (non-main game) Resident Evil titles...

- The author of the book in the living room (Revelations)
- One of the reporter files (Outbreak)

And some of the juicy stuff from the main titles....

- RE2 menu noises when using the pass code keypad
- When Jack is stalking you, sometimes he will do half of the merchant's laugh from RE4
- One of the paintings seen in the main house is one of the paintings from the Life to Death puzzle/painting room in RE1

Also, the end character is definitely Chris. I'll bet on it. Can't wait to see how he comes into play and the forthcoming DLC. Super excited!

The stalker stuff in general is weak. For one, they're slow. And they're not really dangerous. Jack is ok, but Marge is a total wacko. You can't compare these to Nemesis, who was brutal, who ran fast, who was actually tough to put down, and who genuinely surprised you when he appeared. He felt organic and alive. And he was ugly.

I actually really liked the old house b/c the atmosphere is just ridiculous in VR but both stalking encounters were very weak.
That's a good point regarding Nemesis. He was all over the place and tough as nail to put down, but thing is, you could never escape him and feel relaxed. I remember when I first encountered him in the police station then ran inside, and while going downstairs he comes through the window with a freaking rocket launcher, I escape and run like hell, yet he is coming across rooms to catch me, till I am outside, I feel relieved a bit, move outside the station, and suddenly here he comes again. So Persistent.

He is so memorable, such a shame Capcom couldn't replicate that, yet I have to say Jack was good in his own way, not Nemesis for sure, but sure as hell better than the awful Ustanak.
Oh god please no.
Who knows what will happen now.

If the scene with Pa Baker is any indication Zoe is probably dead or fully transformed into some monster we don't get to see. She seemed pretty sure that she was far enough gone that if she didn't get the serum immediately then she couldn't be saved at all, and since removing the infection from a sufficiently infected individual kills them (like with Jack) it's safe to assume she probably died when Eveline was killed, if she didn't manage to do it sooner.

Regardless, the health potions are able to reattach limbs. It says so on the label.

What's actually stated is that immediately after being infected, subjects are able to coapt severed limbs in a matter of minutes on their own.
1. No it isn't
2. It also says the health stuff can do it better

I've finished the game 4 times now, haven't had a limb chopped off (besides the scripted one in the opener) at all. I feel like I'm missing it out lol. (or maybe I'm that good of a player :p)

I love how the first time you see a picture of Lucas, the comment is something like "this guy looks like an asshole". So true. I really wanted to put a few bullets in his head after the testing area. I hope the DLC lets you do that.

I somehow escaped it the first time, but ever since then I've been unable to despite trying so hard haha. That was my one healing item in my 3 or less run.

Other than the muscles 5's is based on the REmake face at least, same for Jill.
it was just more pronounced in the earlier renditions of the model

Darkside Chronicles slightly widened the REmake model and makes the similarity instantly noticeable.

While we're talking chris. The dude getting muscles was a A+ change. By far my biggest complaint with this supposed RE7 chris. He ain't a sexy muscle man.

RE5 Chris is one of the best updated designs in gaming IMO. It's no wonder he has such a strong gay following. And it definitely cemented an iconic look for him, ala beret Jill and sherpa jacket Leon.

"Redfield"/HUNK is only slightly hunky.

I have my problems with Chris in RE5(costume in relation muscle size)
But RE5/6 Chris is my favorite design for a male character in gaming.
