My whole thing is I think you can make the RE5/6 chris still work. It wouldn't be 100% obviously, but it could be closer than what we're looking at here. As I said i'm not mad over it, more confused and surprised that capcom wouldn't try a little harder to make it more recognizable. Chris is my favorite character in the series, so it's cool that he's here. But as I said it does feel they scanned said actor and decided that they didn't need to make any changes.

Has me curious about the future RE titles. If they're sticking with RE engine and a more realistic style for say RE2make. Leon will probably get a drastic change as well compared to his Re4-6 self.
 
Again I think that the 4chan dude doesn't understand the ending. Some helicopter shows up to help you, some guy pops out and says that he'd Redfield, and you feel safe but then you realize the helicopter is Umbrella.

Aka...this ain't Chris and you aren't about to get help.
 
I would be less upset if this was a reboot but knowing it's connected with the mainline series is making me kinda upset.

He has a look, why the fuck would they change it.

I can't see this drastic change in appearance happening. Gotta be some guy impersonating Chris and wants Ethan to tell the world about him working with Umbrella or something. If it is actually is him though then just LOL
 
It's.....actually pretty cool for me! I really don't know why though. I mean I guess I should be confused but...it's weird I don't get it! I just like it.

What are the options once the enemy is right on top of you? Seems you just spam attacks at each other until stunned and then slowly 'run' away, repeat until one of you is dead or knocked out. Blocking appears to merely lesson the damage you take. Melee attacks and animations appear clunky and difficult to tell what is going to land, for both yourself and the enemy. Inconsistent clipping through objects looks jank and confusing.

I was hoping for a decent melee, parry, and/or dodging system to be in the final game. Oh well. The weird part is up close combat seems what the game forces on you more than not so the subpar execution of it seems all the more puzzling.

Enemy variety sucks so far. Encounters with Bakers are repetitive and seem more annoying than fun. Pretty much my main concerns since the beginning are being realized. Will the final 2/3s of the game alleviate this? Maybe a bit, but I suspect not enough.

Yeah from the pics it's clear that the kicker is the chopper being an Umbrella one. This isn't Chris people. This is some guy who calls himself "Redfield" to make you feel safe, only for the truth being that Ethan is being taken away by Umbrella.
 
Obviously in the CG movie Chris gets brainwashed and put in a tub of Mako which changes his appearance. RE8 will be you hunting Chris and ultimately killing him.
 
Yeah apparently the ending is that Ethan is infected and "Redfield" picks you up to help with "some tests" for his company and the reveal is that you've just been caught by Umbrella.

This isn't Chris people.

i guess chris stole some of that youth serum ol' albert was chugging in re5 to look like he did at 55 years old

but yeah i'm betting its the ol' twist. it's not like chris isn't super well known at this point in the RE universe given he's basically single-handedly responsible for fucking up most of the bad guys alongside establishing the only agency that is even remotely capable to dealing with BOWs/the batshit insane schemes of that universe

the STARS and flashback BSAA outfit (the STARs outfit is a slightly modified flashback BSAA outfit) are actually significantly less muscular than his default re5 outfit, and there's even a story reason for that. if you put them side by side you can see that chris in the STARS/flashback BSAA outfit has an 80s action hero kinda build in the same way as arnie and sly rather than the more bautista/brock lesnar kinda build he's got because of the additional muscle mass he gains in the default outfit.

Seems like with each shift, they change his look.

In RE 10 he'll be resurrected and look like Chris Pratt.

That said, I don't feel that this is Chris.

Exactly what I think. Just posted that to Reddit, actually, except I say it's Hunk.

Either way this turns out, I'm still hyped.
 
The classic, stylized, half western, half japanese look of the characters in the previous games is so much better than this new, boring, realistic style. Ugh.

There are spoilers for RE7 end game in other posts in this thread, since people didn't read my original disclaimer. My opening post however is free of that

Cameos were mentioned already by capcom to be in the game
The first major thing is that – finally – returning characters have been confirmed. I'd taken some interest in how Capcom had been wording the answer to this question, only ever clarifying that we wouldn't be playing as a returning character. Looks like I was right to question, as Kawata explained:
Returning characters will be appearing but minimally.

So on 4chan, the final moments of Re7 were posted. With that comes the character cameo capcom has been teasing for awhile now. It's none other than Chris Redfield. However it looks like RE engine will be changing things up. As you can see in the comparison. Chris has had quite the change. Chris is my favorite character in the RE series, so seeing this drastic change is surprising. I'm not even mad, more confused than anything really. To me it looks like chris has gotten younger rather than older. The RE engine can scan actors and put them into the game (This is how Jack Baker was put into the game). In this case the actor who was picked to portray chris was not altered in any way to give him a likeness to his prior self.

This has me intrigued on the future of the series under the RE engine. RE2make would be next, and we can assume that'll use the same engine. If so, people should expect characters such as Leon and Ada to undergo changes such as this. As I said i'm not mad. Game Engines change, and we're going from a more 'japanese" look to now a more realisitic western look for the series. But I feel capcom probably could have done a bit more work on this.

But does the game end there? Then why did they say a cameo would appear, is the name the cameo or is there a end credits scene or something?
