Just finished this...I don't know. I want to say it's a good well made game, because it is. In the horror genre, it's great. It has Resident Evil elements, which are appreciated...but it still didn't feel entirely like Resident Evil to me.
If anything, this felt more of a side story to me than Revelations 2 did (not referring to the gameplay, but storywise). That game at least added to the Wesker storyline and had familiar characters, whereas this game just doesn't seem to have any relation to anything in the series. I'm glad we didn't have a voiceless main character, but I don't like that he was faceless. WTF is the point of that. When you play as Mia, they should at least let you see it.
As a game, this was great I think. As a Resident Evil game, and a fan for almost 2 decades, I felt let down. It has the staples of some of the gameplay elements, but had none of the charm. I felt like all the main games have at least had memorable characters, and no one here really stands out. (at least on the good guys side, I know they tried with the Baker family) There wasn't anyone I liked though...No characters in the vain of Chris, Jill, Leon, Barry, or Claire that you like as characters. Hell, for all of RE6's faults, I at least appreciated how well the Jake campaign made him and Sherry likable characters for me.
Another thing about Resident Evil to me, is even though there's gore and so much death and horror...the series has been known to have some levity to it. This had none really, and that also hurts it a lot for me.
So yeah...I don't know, but I'm thinking I won't really wanna play this much again, unlike games like RE1, 2, 4, 5, and Revelations 2 which I've all played multiple times.
