Resident Evil 7 Spoiler Thread

Wish they'd patch enemy clipping through doors. Breaks my immersion pretty hard. But that's about the only issue I have with the game.

My brother and I basically marathoned the experience this past Saturday night.

Played on PS4 Pro with PSVR and default settings on Normal

While the demo never made me sick I actually ended up throwing up during the first Chainsaw fight in the attic. This was the day prior to us marathoning the rest of it.

Surprisingly I never had any issues the rest of the game (although I did take Dramamine). I probably played 75% of the time including like the last 6 hours. I also think using surround sound instead of over ear headphones helped. Helps keep your baring on the outside world.

It was by far my favorite VR experience. I want MORE!!!! Just bought the season pass

I found myself being much more cautious than I would normally be in a game like this. Staying stationary through multiple programmed routes by AI.

We played through the night and I guess the adrenaline kept me wide awake. I put the headset on when it was dark outside and it was daylight when I took them off at Noon!!!

We kept thinking we were at the end multiple times. Definitely didn't expect the large ship area.

I do agree that it kind of fell a little flat at the end. Should have ended with a very difficult puzzle and very difficult boss fight.

You know what would make the "Not a Hero" DLC really cool?
If it played like RE6. I mean since it's all the same universe still. Chris shouldn't have lost his ability to melee enemies.
Character suicide at this point if he can't even punch a molded. Those things are scrubs compared to the stuff he's seen.

That sort of goes against the idea of even making DLC. If it's going to play completely different, it minus well just be its own small game that could be bought separately.

Does anyone know what the paper under the bed in the Bedroom tape does? I think its hinting at the door combination, but it doesn't seem to work.

Just beat it. Am I the only moron that gave the serum to Zoe? I made the decision very quickly with the rationale that Mia tried to kill me 5 times (only near the end I realized it was Evelyn doing this), while Zoe has been helping me escape (when I thought Mia was dead). Apparently I got the bad ending because of this, and Zoe got fried 2 minutes later anyway, so yeah... felt like a ripoff. Why couldn't she stay involved in the story if you chose that path? Kinda dumb.

No, I chose her as well. I figured Mia would be the obvious choice, and thus the wrong choice, so I chose Zoe.

Dabbled around in the first DLC pack

Bedroom was awesome. It was fairly short, and since it's all puzzles there's zero replay value out of watching other people play it or if you forget how it's done, but I liked it quite a bit. It made up for some of the lack of puzzles in the main game, as this felt very much like the happy birthday section, only they come up with a clever abeit a bit too predictable means of building tension. I would have liked to see a slightly better ending, missed opportunity to at least end with
a scare, since we know Clancy doesn't really escape
.

Nightmare is pretty good fun. It's hampered by lack of enemy variety and level variety, and it's far from a mercs replacement, but it's got some fun unlocks to give it some legs. I probably won't put much time into it, but I may play it again to beat it, get more unlocks, and find out whatever the other mode for this segment is.

Ethan Must Die from what I've played, which is not much, is trash. I was really looking forward to this mode, but the difficulty just seems absurd. I love the idea of a remixed mini campaign, with all the level exploring, combat, and resource management that makes the main game great + some fun visual tweaks and randomized items...but this seems like a masochistic gauntlet.

Overall it's an alright start to the season pass I guess. Bedroom is the clear highlight here, but it's too short and not very replayable to recommend based solely on that. People on the fence about the DLC/Season pass should definitely wait. I hope the remaining DLC's are more substantial and higher quality (especially that story chapter).

The game needed you to play as Mia anyway for the flashbacks to work and she had to rescue Ethan in the ship after all since she was in part responsible for the incident. I guess at some point they were planning on two separate paths and it got cut like a lot of stuff.

Revelations2 had a bad ending depending which character did a QTE so it's nothing new unfortunately.

I just started the game today and...

WORST. GIRLFRIEND. EVER. Just started playing and OH MY GOD that chainsaw scene.

Really well done so far.

You might wanna stay out of the spoiler thread if you just started...

The ship and even mines would have benefitted from new enemies ,especially cause no more unique enemies stalking you. I think RE8 is going to knock it completely out of the park with locations, boss battles, and puzzles. Could be wrong but just a feeling this was but a taste.

Apart from the final boss, I think they knocked it out of the park with the bosses in the game. Easily the best in the series alongside RE4, so I hope they don't listen to the people who complained about them and make them too easy or have less of them...

But yeah, the best thing about RE7, besides being a very good game in its own right, is that it lays the perfect groundwork for 8 to really knock it out of the park. Since by now I'm sure they at least realize that people want:
-more enemies
-more/better puzzles
-more of the complex levels
-good final boss

Got the DLC today and haven't touched it since I am still trying to complete madhouse.

I just got to the ship as MIa. This part is going to suck I can already tell. The game gives me 2 remote bombs out the gate, and of course it took both to kill a 4 legged molded.

Fighting a normal molded and her machine gun basically tickles them. I know I know I can just run away and not fight and conserve ammo. I just wanted to test her effectiveness for when I do have to fight later on when heals are scarce.

damn, didn't think i'd be able to do the 4 hour run even on easy but i just got the d-series arm and i'm only 1:14 in so far. feeling pretty good right now heh.

I keep getting error code E-82000168 when trying to download Banned Footage Vol. 1

Did they pull it or something? Network checks out fine. Are game files hosted on the developer's servers? I assumed they are all on Sony servers.

Man fuck the 2 fat molded on madhouse in the mine.
Please tell me you saved the Magnum for that. I fought them with 20+ shotty shells, about 10 enhanced handgun bullets being fired from the Albert, and 2 flame rounds and they STILL didn't go down.

Then I went into the fight with the magnum and the big guy took 3 shots (2 head, one body) and the smaller fatty died in just 2 shots (one head and one body).

So. Easy.

Jawmuncher gets mad that people don't acknowledge the positives of RE6 and lashes out sometimes, give him some space and he'll simmer down lol.

Real talk tho, RE6 mercenaries is tight as hell, but the main campaigns a stinker

I shot their legs off and ran like hell to the ladder.

I regret not getting it. I have 9 coins right now, but didn't get to 8 until it was too late to go back to the main house ever again.

I feel it was a shitty game design choice to not let us spend coins past what is not even the 50% game done point.

I opted for the iron defense coin, a steroid, and the early scorpion key. I thought it was the only way to get the key too, or else I would've skipped it lol.

Balls deep in mad house now at the ship.

The fatty molded I am not looking forward to. The mines and Mia round 2 in the ship are going to suck ass.

I'm never that mean, lol

Here's hoping people who haven't completed RE7 yet don't realize the significance of your avatar.

I can get behind this. I really enjoyed RE7 but I felt like it was almost too stressful considering where the series had gone. Like RE4 is legendary and it's not stressful at all, except maybe the Ashley part. But it would be interesting to see REDFIELD just fist-a-cuffing the Bakers. Like some huge kung fu battle with Lucas Baker

I'm a bit confused. I've always seen the magnum show up in the birdcage again right after you regain control of Ethan before the mines.

Every difficulty had the magnum in the birdcage near the end for me, in addition to its normal place.

It is literally impossible to know it's Chris since he looks NOTHING like him in past iterations and the graphical prowess/Engine used for RE7 makes character models look sort of generic in that it could be from almost any other game. Hell Chris could just look like a Call of Duty character 20348 how he is put together in the image.

Ah okay. I must be spacing out. Glad I will get one more chance to grab the magnum. I will need it I feel for the final boss just so I can destroy her super fast.

That's why it's so good lol. You can't telllll

The deep avatar inception.

The only way someone could "ruin "it is if it was the main thread, and they quoted me without spoiler tags to be like "yo wtf change your avatar, spoilers" or something to that accord.

As long as no one says nothing...Chris avatar can keep watching everyone. :)

It's such deep inception your avatar itself doesn't know if it's Chris or not.

Wait, good point. I never thought about that. Is it possible to skip most of Lucas's area? I doubt it. Classic RE's would change the password for some puzzles if you just jumped ahead

Even if you got in there's no exit, you literally blow an exit with the dynamite.

I just had a realization. If you save your separating agent for when you have only 1 enhanced hand gun ammo left, then use it on the one bullet, do you then get the high grade chem?

If so that is a genius use.

Great game. the game is so immersive. and please bring back Condemned and Dead Space. I want more AAA Horror games. Lets hope the System Shock reboot/remake is as good as this.

If you attempt to enter a password memorized from a previous run, it will automatically choose the other password as correct, and the game won't let Ethan enter a password again until he's done with the whole area.
