RESIDENT EVIL REmake first person view

Uhm..But how did he extract the prerendered backdrops models for those to work in 1st person ???

Some of the models look like they've been extracted from Umbrella Chronicles by the looks of it. If you look at his channel he did the same thing for the RE2 remake getting the models from Darkside Chronicles and Outbreak.

In the HD remake there are a few rooms that have been remade in 3d so it's possible he took some from there? But that was only 2-3 locations I think.

Very impressive!

That could end better than original REmake.

I'm interested to hear from people who said that RE7's FPV was too much of a departure that did not harken back to the series' roots, because if anything this sample shows that FPV can enhance the experience even further.

REmake in FPV is clearly effective.
You obviously watched a different video or are stuck with the FP is great mindset, the game clearly loses everything Resident Evil Remake is loved for in that video.
All I see is Umbrella Chronicles with movement control, which like UC doesn't look or play the same and doesn't feel like Resident Evil.
And it also demonstrates how far away RE7 is to its roots
Which is strange as I thought RE7 problems wasn't the FP camera, maybe I was wrong and theres more to it and FP is a glaring problem.
it does change a lot, be cool to play but I think the fascination of the FP view would wear off quick like most games with a optional FP view.

If those assets were of better quality and if this was a full fledged Capcom game for REmake in first-person, I'd very confidently say that the mansion would be better realized and more encapsulating than it already is. I don't think the perspective shift from third to first-person makes it worse, but instead better. I really don't see how the experience can get more visceral. I'm not opposed to non-first-person, but I do enjoy seeing different perspectives. I know what REmake looks like, now I'd like to experience it in first-person because it breathes in new life to the experience and authenticity.

You'd be making the opposite argument if the series was always in first-person and now suddenly shifted to third-person. The series is not rooted in the camera and obviously changing it would allow for deeper, richer experiences.

So you can just headshot zombies and never have crimson heads.
You could make a sort of headless form of it, so you always have to burn them. Since in FP the shooting would be super accurate, you could also limit bullets further.
Nothing you couldn't fix by balancing. It might be interesting to see this as a template for future RE games. If RE7 is as good as it sounds, it probably won't be the last FP Resident Evil game.

Uuuugggghhh, the excessive head bob and jerkiness was making me want to puke. The mansion looses some of it's charm and the atmosphere takes a hit due to no forced camera angles, though

Took out all the 90s prerendered charm in exchange for a generic FPS feel :/ For what it's worth he did a good job with the background modeling at least

I mean the mode is fun, but I wouldn't play in it especially wouldn't recommend for the 1st playthrough to someone, all those fixed camera angles play major role in how RE should be experienced. RE7 however is whole another story, it is designed for the FP.

how the fuck?

you'd think even with the original model files, there'd be so much missing stuff that this couldn't work. Why would they render stuff you'd never see in gameplay? And didn't Capcom say they lost these files, hence the reason RE0 HD looked good and REmake HD looked like a shitty filter over low res backgrounds?

The environment was likely ripped from Umbrella Chronicles and touched-up with better geometry and materials. Maybe even made from scratch, here's one modeler's extremely impressive work of the main hall that floors me every time (and video)

I doubt that this will ever come out. It would pretty much be a new game of its own if it did, not even looking at the legal ramifications.
It's just a proof of concept, a bit of fun.

Better or worse is not what I'd call it, not right, weird or completely off is the correct answer.
someone said what makes Resident Evil is different for everyone, yet how people can't see how different it feels is beyond me.
Playing Remake and atmosphere of the music as you see you jill walk down those hallways lightning cast your characters shadow across the floor, or when Leon enters the police station with that iconic music starts with the camera panned so you can see the scope of the place you've just entered at key Resident Evil moments
There's a lot that makes the OG Resident Evil's which can not be argued against, and what it does is impossible in FP, yet people try.
Resident Evil was obviously just a good horror game to some and should be FP like all other games are thesedays, to others it's a lot more than that and Resident Evil 7 has a lot to prove.
And for the record, Deus Ex should be 3rd person, FP ruins the game.
and Duke Nukem was terrible is 3rd person.

This looks like what happens when I crank the FOV up to max on a game, it's almost got this fish eye lense sorta look. Looks really neat regardless.

I can't believe some people coming into this thread and shitting on this effort for not perfectly recreating the atmosphere and gameplay of the original.

This is one of the most impressive modding efforts remaking an original game I've ever seen. The fact it does so with a completely new perspective, with the associated first person animations, aiming, etc, and looking competent at it is jaw dropping. Maybe if it was a real developer with financial backing they could have made the animations, enemy feedback, atmosphere etc better but this is a fan project.

Then you twats come in and shit on it...

I want this as an optional play style in the new Remake2. Same for a new redo of the original, whenever they get around to that.

Damn that's unreal.

To those wondering how he got the level working in Unreal he redid the mansion with textures from the game.
