If there's one thing that makes me suspicious of this game, it's that it looks like it takes place on an ocean liner.

There has never been an RE game that took place on an ocean liner that didn't completely stink.

This time they aren't held back by hardware limitations. This may actually be the first good one. (unless this is just one of the locations)

I can only imagine how amazing it will look on that little screen. Still cant believe Nintendo went this far with the graphics on the 3DS! Really gets me hyped for what they will do with Wii Hi-Fi.

Those don't happen much outside Japan. So it shouldn't be hard to chose

All that matters for me is.


This level of visuals will do fine for me for another full handheld generation cycle. Its about what I would have wanted, maybe a bit more, but just about right, and with room to grow thatll do nicely.

PSP2 will come out later on and be more powerful, no doubt. But with this as the baseline I can safely say that Ill be able to enjoy the next gen of handhelds without my eyes bleeding, and thats a good thing.

Skipped on the DS for the sole reason I don't really go anywhere where I need a portable. But damn is the 3ds seems to be dishing out games I want.

I'm also curious how this'll work out. I imagine that for some relatively straightforward uses (sticking dents onto crates or whatnot) this might break the illusion somewhat, although for stuff like the examples on display in the MGS demo I don't think it should matter at all.

It's really the same problem as for 2D, just to a larger extent. Fine surface detail works well, but you shouldn't try to create 3D detail with normal mapping at a scale of more than a few pixels. I just hope developers realize that, particularly considering the poly limits.

Since they claim to use some part of Crystal Tools even on Wii, it shouldn't be a problem. It probably makes more sense to use that kind of production tools for 3DS than trying to scale anything from DS up.
