Resident Evil: Revelations (3DS) real-time demo video

I absolutly hate the gears-of-war'ification of the characters.
They look like they did roids for years. disgusting design which has nothing to do with the originals.
thank(fuck) you RE5!
why? WHY?

sidenote: yea, looks stunning :o

I believe it'll come out in the US first. Both the DS and Wii launched first in the US so I'm assuming the 3DS will continue the trend. $229 is probably about right with pilotwings packed in.

The Wii has to be jealous over its new little brother 3DS as the new more talented member of the Nintendo family.

that looks really good for a portable

Okay guys let's speculate what he's going to say

"Past the second stage of infection" And what they might have found is a cure!
But it won't work because the infection has gone too far, how will our heroes solve this?

The game looks impossibly good. If you told me that was a 360/PS3 trailer I wouldn't have argued with you!

Man, I hope that this doesn't price developers out of making handheld games. Last thing the industry needs is to have handheld games with $30million + budgets now!

I refuse to believe that was real time, main reason simply being the speed they advanced through all the scenes and locations.
Wasn't the camera control a bit like MGS cutscenes? Zoom in+ slide around the zoomed view? Sure I read that somewhere but can't remember where.
Aside from the complexety of building a viewer to hold multiple locations in memory at once, full camera control wouldn't be very meaningful when the view changes every second.

If it turns out you can pause the demo and do all that stuff, then it could work I guess...

Apparently you could move the camera around when the characters were talking. So the first part of the video was probably FMV while the rest was real-time.

You can see the low textures on their clothing, walls and some sharp polygon corners but the shaders and lighting method they are using really helps hide all the problems, looks amazing for a portable.

I think it's pre-recorded but from the ingame engine, so what you see is what the handheld can produce at least.

Yeah I'm not denying it could be that, would be cool, just didn't buy it being rendered at the time of the show. Also the crazy antialiasing is still there.

globally saturated?
hiding forevah?
I think I got it, it's "Suffering like G did"
It's a HotD/RE cross-over title!

Capcom's Japanese news release confirmed my suspicions: Revelations is certainly the next CODE: Veronica (or perhaps Degeneration) of the series. Not thematically or as a sequel, but as a game that is clearly going to be a canon storyline and non-derived gameplay entry but without a numeral to go along with it. It doesn't matter whether they go back or forward from RE5, since RE0 went back but is certainly a main series entry. Capcom's Japanese press release calls Revelations the next and newest Biohazard, a designation they last used with RE5 and then RE4 before that. Wouldn't be surprised if this game's plot was to be used for either a previous version of RE5 or even RE6 at one point. Kinda like how MGSPW was MGS5 at one time.

They have returned to the mansion where they thought they were safe
moist as dudes

Day 1. I'd buy a 3DS for this game alone.

You're kidding right?

229$? For a fucking handheld?

Did you know that the average selling price for a new Nintendo DS is now HIGHER than it was at launch?

I would like you to think about that.

229 is not out of the realm of possibility. And that shit would be red hot and sold out at that price.

I wouldnt like it, above 200 for a handheld is pretty fucked up IMO regardless of its power. But the fucking games though, I might bite even at that cost.

I wonder if the 3DS could render RE5's title screen?

If it came out this year, I'd pay 250.

Next year? 229.

It'd be a major coup if Nintendo could get it down to, say, the DSi price range--but that probably won't happen. I think 250 is the safe bet. And I'd gladly pay that, day 1.

You know, I just realized. This uses their MT framework engine...

The consoles and handhelds can use the same engine...

Christ thats nuts.
Thanks god Nintendo is finally using graphic rendering methods from the 21th century.

Imagine if Capcom decided to re-render all the RE:Remake sets for the 3DS in widescreen

or made RE2 + RE4 camera/controls!

I don't understand how a few months would change your willingness to pay an extra 20 dollars.

Well if the 3D effect works like I hope it will then yeah 230$ plus a game really isn't that bad.

It just sounded steep compared to the slim for instance. And hell yeah I'm a cheapo but never regretted it even once when it comes to gaming.

But anyway this is about RE, any information yet about the controls?

So it's Resident Evil 7 then? Woo!

The 3DS would still sell gangbusters at $230. I don't even want to imagine the chaos if it were released at 200(I'd prefer it at this price though).

RE on the DS seems like a prime target for the old methods Capcom used to make REmake. Rendered mansion with full polygon/shading/lighting focused on the character models and effects would make for a hell of an experience with this tech.

And Inafune comments in the developer interview also suggested the same, so the press release corroborates that. Pretty cool the 3DS would get a Resident Evil of that calibre so early. Capcom must be sold on the concept of 3D meets RE. Then again, this could still be pretty far off. But I'm excited.

Offical Capcom PR:

Following last week’s announcement that Capcom currently has two titles, Resident Evil: Revelations and Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition (tentative title), in development for the Nintendo 3DS the first trailer for Resident Evil: Revelations has just been released and is now available for download from our press extranet. Featuring appearances from Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine the trailer is rendered in real time using the game engine.

Also available from www.capcomeuro-press.com are the first in-game screen shots for Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition (tentative title) and a selection of stills from the trailer for Resident Evil: Revelations.

this is real time game engine on the 3DS? fuck? this is looks 3 times better than anything on PSP. I didn't know 3DS was such a hardware upgrade compared to DS.
