They keep doing this with the beginning of every movie. Theres no point in any of the cliffhangers bar the first (which coincidentally was the strongest because it actually mattered)
RE1: Ends with Alice Walking out into Raccoon City (fucking badass ending at that)
RE2: Starts off right with Alice in RC. Ends with Alice being under Umbrellac Control.
RE3: World went to shit. Jill is dead...or not. Nobody gives a shit. Alice did some shit and is running from umbrella. Ends with Alice finding the clone army.
RE4: First 2 minutes the big bad destroys every single clone. They get 1 action scene. I forgot how this ends, with Jill coming back and them on a boat?
RE5: I have no idea how this starts. Ends with Wesker as president.
RE6: Guaranteed we don't get to see Wesker Obama rock the oval office with his zombie vice president Excella Biden. I would actually be interested to see how Wesker confronts zombie politics.
RE4 as terrible as it was, was at least a tolerable action flick. 5 was atrociously bad. And I'll maybe, probably watch this one. Maybe.

I really cant... the first 2 movies are some of my favorite action flicks but after the 3rd one the dumb story got dumber and dumber.

I haven't watched the movies in a long time and generally don't care about them. But I am currently replaying RE2 and the first line alone was enough to make me irrupt in laughter then immediately upset.

I've actually enjoyed these movies since they're goofy and the plots make more sense than the recent RE games, but that script sounds like garbage. Like what the hell man.
Also, given that supposed ending I wonder how that will tie into that RE movie tie-in series that was supposed to happen.

That's not even taking what happened at the end of the last movie into account. At all. How lame.
So what they're saying is that they could only get the actors for Wesker and Claire but couldn't even get the actors for Jill/Ada/Leon/Chris/Rain so they decide to kill them off-screen instead.
I get that the Resident Evil games have been catching up with the ridiculousness of the Resident Evil movies, but you'd think there would be a time traveling twist. Seems like Capcom would object to Jill/Chris/Leon/Ada getting killed off, especially off-screen.

-Li Bingbing as Ada Wong was semi-confirmed by Milla herself in the first stages of the film.
-Wentworth Miller flatout DROPPED out of the Chris Redfield role. Everyone thought they were going to write Chris out of the story rather than recast him.
-Suddenly. Milla stopped mentioning Li Bingbing and would not answer any questions about Chris, Ada, Jill and Leon.
-Sienna Guillory went silent on reprising her role as Jill.
-Johann Urb confirmed via Twitter he isn't reprising Leon for the final chapter.
-Filiming already begun and the full cast was officially revealed by Sony and Leon, Ada, Chris and Jill are nowhere to be found.
All of this adds up and soldifies this even more. Sadly.

He's made 5 films, 1 alright, 4 laughably bad films... if he hasn't realized he's terrible at this, I don't think this is going to make a difference.
EDIT, he's only directed the first, the last two, and this one. So they got dumber on his watch.

That reads like a TV show that didn't know it was getting cancelled until the last minute. Just nuke as much of the cast as fast as possible, everyone dropping like flies to clear way for the "main" story.

Yikes. Sounds like Paul W.S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich's pregnancy totally screwed up scheduling AND story. The only upside is Claire since I think Ali Larter was pregnant at the original production time and her role seems to have expanded.
Their baby basically killed off almost the entire franchise's cast.

That actually is probably exactly what happened.
Me and other people that were following the film p's development since the announcement (2012) have reason to believe the script has been reqritten and changed drastically.
Wikipedia has the details of development so I'll just copy and paste, but check this out:
Shooting literally JUST begun. That's a 2 year delay. Something happened.
Li Bingbing was absolutely confirmed to return and co-star (exactly like the fifth film, Retribution). What happened? A change in script happened.
Okay, one year for Milla's pregnancy. What about the other year delay? And then the cast was unveiled and woop, none of the major video game characters are returning bar Claire and Wesker.
