RESISTANCE 2: The Official Thread of Mankind's Last Stand

Just started the singleplayer campaign and noticed that a lot of the effects seem to be pixelated. I'm using a Samsung T260HD @ 1080p.

The game runs at 720p, so your t.v. is upscaling the image (unless it's displaying the game natively, but I don't think it is). The pixelation is being cause by your tv's scaler.

Isn't the level cap 30? I just started playing this today, cooperative is fun, but I'm kind of disappointed they didn't fix the respawning in competitive.

I don't think so because there are things that get unlocked at level 32 from what i see.but i am not sure.

Oh my god! Why is literally every single game I get Core Control now.

I'm seriously about to give up on this game.

That is BY FAR my least favorite mode in the game, how can anyone take CTF and MAKE IT WORSE? Co-op is awesome though.

Just select Team Deathmatch or Deathmatch if you hate Core Control so much.

Me and Aeon just played a Core Control game where our team was horrible and the other team had clans who camped and played the right way. CC is not recommended without at least 4 or 5 GAF'ers with you...

Yeah...Skirmish and TDM are awesome...wtf @ getting so much core control. And it's particularly bad b/c people always quit once they are down 1-0

Which will promptly be followed up by a message that says "No games found"

Edit: As I typed this message I started my fifth game of the night (4 of them were core control)

But Killzone 2 is more awesome, am I rite?

When are the official Gaf meet ups? Considering there is no lobby system for a party, it's hard to figure who is playing with who. The whole party system is broken to begin with.

So, who again do I need to talk to to get into the clan if there are more spots available? Or if someone who has the power, I applied under the same name I have here : Puli.

Been trying to play Co-op a bunch, but when I hit "Play" most of the people end up quitting. When I use "Find Game" to get one with 6-7 people they almost always end within 5 minutes of me joining. Quite frustrating. :P

I don't understand why people keep complaining about dumb shit like this. A few pages back, someone said that they can only connect onto R2 online like 20% of the time or some crap. And now you're saying that you can't get TDM or DM games, which is another lie.

Just about all of my 23 (almost 24) levels in Competitive mode are from TDM and DM games. How in the world did that happen if all I get is "no games found?" Seriously, stop bullshitting. The only times TDM games are hard to find is like really early in the morning (NA time), because the Japanese players mainly play Co-op.

Man I love the Japanese players in Co op. Reminds me of FFXI only with them chatting among themselves in voice rather than moon language text with a "w" at the end. They laugh a lot, and seem to be enjoying themselves.

The road to 22 spec ops will be long. I'm too busy lately and need to finish deadspace, play ore of Saints Row2, and put LBP in. I still have a lot to do in Motorstorm 2 as well. Gah

Also I don't get much errors in co op anymore. If I do I just hit play now again and it usually works. If I get a "no games found" message I hit it until it finds one.

:lol Good thing they don't seem to mind playing with us in R2.

Well, this is "our" game... meaning it was developed by a NA studio, unlike Final Fantasy was developed by SquareEnix (Japanese).

NAs were too disrespectful in FFXI and it was all about greed and drama for NAs. If I was a JP, I would have felt the same way they did, after they tried helping NAs out initially, only to have their respect and courtesy thrown back in their faces.

Anyway, this is about Resistance, not FFXI. It's just nice to see R2 doing well in Japan and to see the Japanese enjoy playing the game so much.

:lol Why would I lie? A very high percentage of the time in what I would assume is peak time (8PM - 10PM) I have a very hard time getting TDM or DM. Would I lie because I don't like the game? That wouldn't make much sense because I play it for over an hour every single night.

I don't know why. But I find it strange how you're having problems with finding TDM and DM games, especially at primetime hours, because I never have problem finding games during those times. In fact, during peak times, TDM games usually have 15 vs. 15, 20 vs. 20, and sometimes recently, 30 vs. 30.

I'm not trying to call you a liar, so I'm sorry if you felt I did. But it's just annoying hearing people complain about matchmaking (multiplayer in general) in R2. Sure, it's not as fleshed out and polished as in RFoM, but it definitely works fine. Maybe you should try to search more than once, instead of expecting to be put into a TDM or DM game immediately after you pressed the button to search. I think I have over 300 TDM games played by now, so it works fine for me most of time.

Played some more coop last night. I really like it. We had a few cool moments last night. Like as a medic I killed 20+leapers with 1 hedgehog, it was pretty awesome. And we had one fight where we were trying to take out a titan while all of the sudden 4 alpha grimms and 10-15 chimera showed up. We didn't make it:lol

I do wish they would allow you to specify which region you want to play in for matchmaking on both the coop and competitive so I won't have to play the same map 2 times in a row.

Last night I spent like 3-4 hours running the same maps over and over to get all the Mission updates. I'm about halfway through the Canyon. Not looking forward to Iceland. I've only been able to complete that place once out of five or six attempts. Though I only play with random people so what can you expect.

I don't know if you played a lot of CTF in the first game but R2's CTF is much better than R1's.

Who stupid idea was it to get rid of scaling in TDM? 160 kills to win a 5v5 is just as stupid as 160 kills to win a 30v30 match. One the round ends normally around 90 kills and the other is over wayyy too fast. It's things like this that R1 did that makes me smh at whoever made the decisions for R2.

Same here. I am trying to knock out coop, max level and also all info. Then i want to work on SP campaign, then I will finally move to competitive.

Are we going to have designated clan nights like with R1? Maybe one night dedicated for co-op and another night for competitive?

I almost exclusively played CTF on FoM (Somorset ftw!) and I certainly don't think Core control is better. Was my most played mode on the beta though, and still prefer it to the DM stuff.

It just doesn't feel anything like as tactical as in FoM. More fast paced. CTF in FoM could be a long tactical battle (Somorset and Manc mostly).

It's probably the maps, and I've only played the R2 beta. The Core points in orrick are awful. Can't really use tactics, just have to run into a little house and hope for the best. Somorset had lots of awesome little hiding places (including ones off the map, cunts!). Don't see many different ways to go for the core here.
Chicago CC is a small map, spammy, etc. Tons of fun still, felt a bit like UT to me.
I'd like to know what some of the other maps are like, as they may be better.

Certainly not better than FoM's CTF though. imo.

Well while you thought that it was tactical in R1, I found it to be the most boring CTF mode I've ever played.

It's true that I'm playing the beta more because it ends the end of this month (it's not my fault it's such an afw beta), but I'm going to try to get into more R2 games, Beatbox and the rest of the clan play co-op every night actually. >:3

I'm not a huge fan of CTF to begin with, we used to play a bit of CTF in R1 and I think it's better than core control, because the flag carrier can at least shoot back, and also because R1 has better maps, neither of those is all that fun to be honest.

Correction, Beatbox and some other clan members play co-op. Other clan members play competitive.

Are you talking about Ranked? because if not there are a TON of DM and TDM at any given time. I don't think Ranked lets you join mid game, so I think you'd have to be a little more persistent while searching for games. I've done back to back searches and come up with different results.

Beat the single player campaign.

COOP is phenomenal and Multiplayer is pretty good. Single Player feels "average".

I have to agree with the criticism about how it seems the story presentation and connection you feel with the game seem off.

To me storyline is the big reward for single player and this felt like... it wasn't given enough love by Insomniac.

I like co-op too. I thought you were more of a fan of the co-op than the competitive? I know you, Click, and I played a couple games last night of competitive. And yes, Click is great. Aeon is good, and I'm pretty average.

:lol

We need to play more Competitive games as a clan. Sutdawg's been coming around recently, "seeing the light," and playing more Competitive games during the afternoon while eFertlis isn't on. I've owned him several times when we would randomly get put on opposing teams. :D

I haven't been playing much at night when most people are online. I'll try to be on more this weekend...

Can someone tell me exactly what project arbraham did to hale?

Did they inject him with the virus? If so, how was he infected again in Europe? What exactly did they do?

Yeah, that confused me after playing R1 and then following project Abraham.

In the first game they state he had a resistance to the infection from the beetle vector but not why. Then the ARG of Project Abraham shows that Hale was a test subject whom took well to whatever concotion they injected him with, which would explain his resistance to the beetle infection.

Anyone here able to share the canon for this?

A few points:

Project Abraham injected Hale with DNA from pure Chimera. It is the same strain that lead to Jordan Sheppard being turned into Daedalus. The pure Chimera are in Bryce Canyon and you never actually see them. Malikov previously used the pure Chimera in Russia which led to the development of the Cloven.

Before Hale arrived, he was in project Abraham trying to develop a vaccine to the infection. Since he developed no big side effects, SRPA sent him off to Britain to do in field tests of the vaccine. The vaccine didnt protect him totally from the infection, it just slowed it down, leaving his humanity in tact. With R2, the injections they received counteracted the spread.

I understand that the ARG explains the why in R1's beetle crawly event, and accept that, however shouldn't Hale have been able to avoid that creepy crawly action due to his abilities to talk to the collective as it were? I know he gets more powerful and more changed as time goes on, but it is a minor niggle that comes off as a way to explain something not fully thought out.

Again, I am not complaining because I LOVE the story arc in this alt timeline of world history. Kudos to Insomniac delivering some of the what's going on around the US via the radio broadcasts.

Which leads one to believe that Hale turned into a Cloven at the end of R2. And it makes it even more curious as to why IG decided to completely leave the Cloven out of R2. In RFoM, they were randomly thrown into the storyline, along with Black Ops, to give flavor and some mystery.

Sigh, still having some serious problems getting the game to boot. Launch game > Playstation 3 > black screen > console locks up completely. I have to do it 5-6 times before it works. Fuck. Disc looks fine. I don't understand.

Enjoying co-op when I get a chance to play. Level 14 Solider. Timing motor sure makes a difference. Have level 6 Medic and Spec-ops too. Barely even touched competitive.
