I should have worded it differently. What I was getting at is that the singleplayer is fun and worth $10 if that's the only options out there, but you're most likely not going to play it again so you'd be better renting it for under $10 (for $2 I got all I really needed from this game).
I love singleplayer games and replay some of them 5 times or more. R3 just isn't one of those type of games.
Only my opinion though. And heck, why not spend a few extra dollars and have it to keep just for the heck of it? I'd rather save the money and put it towards my next game I'm looking forward to though.
I tried out the demo. Pretty sweeeet. I'm looking forward to the full deal. I like how it's different than the other fps's out there. The setting and atmosphere are also great. Oh, PLUS the cover artwork is AMAZING.
The mulitplayer consists of everyone running to one point on the map and spamming grenades and turrets with some people getting killsteaks that just guarantee more killsteaks. I would argue that R3 has a much more casual-style of play than most games.
Resistance 3 multiplayer is fun if you don't mind playing a completely unbalanced multiplayer experience or are someone that is willing to play a bunch, level up and then take advantage of the lack of balance.
Sorry, but neither of these have been my experience at all*. I was holding my own just fine against higher-ranked players when I was lower ranked. Hell, most of the games I'm in now, people are way past me in terms of experience, and I have no problem ended up in the top third of of my team stats-wise.
As to the "one point on the map" part, I've not really run into much of that either. There are natural points on maps where larger-scale battles often break out, but again, I've never really felt that it's been to any level that causes problems.
I'd certainly agree that R3 is a more "casual" FPS multiplayer experience, and that's exactly why I like it over other offerings.
* I exclusively play Team Deathmatch, so I can't say if these are serious issues in other modes or not.
