Resistance 3 - The Story So Far

Put off R3 because of R1. It thought it was bad compared to Call of Duty 3 which I had just bought on 360 (at the time). Never played R2.


Resistance= Sci-Fi shooter

CoD= Military shooter


Can you even compare the two?

No, but I hesitate venturing into any discussion about the Resistance series, because they always turn without fail (and without one single fucking exception) into yet another "let's bash R2 again coz it was the worst game ever" thread.

I'm so sick and tired of people beating that dead horse into the ground. It's the single worst thing about Gaf.
 
II like the art direction so far...the game design seems to be more to my liking (i.e. not R2). I'll watch the vid.

I'm keeping my hype checked, so this isn't an automatic buy for me. I took IG games off that list (hey, at least it's not a perma ban).

jstevenson you guys should include different photo filter-type effects as bonus unlockables, given the aesthetic we've been seeing in the screens so far

If it makes you feel any better, I wasn't a day 1 purchase for either Resistance game, but everything I hear and see from 3 is making it look more and more like a day 1 game.
 
Weapon wheel? No more conspicuously placed weapons all over the place to suggest to you what you should expect around the corner? Awww.

Great! Even though the game is taking place in the US, looking at that screen Yencid posted it has that sort of European rainy day vibe. At least to me. Character models from what I've seen seem to look less "cartoonish".

I wonder if they'll use extensive motion capture in this game? I know R2 had some (I remember watching a vid of someone acting out as a Chimera).

see this is what i think is the biggest problem with games that do this. uncharted and other big games are guilty of it too. i hate seeing a sniper rifle on the ground and being like GEE I WONDER WHAT I HAVE TO DO IN 5 MINUTES. the weapon wheel is the best way to solve this imo. obviously the first time you need to use any specific weapon, you will probably need to pick it up near when you first use it, but those games with only 2 or 3 weapons at a time repeat this constantly throughout the game.

But this game is more survival i think...R2 should had weapon whell while R3 should be very strict on weapons and ammo!
