October 12, 2006 -- A young Yale overachiever just wanted a job on Wall Street - but his overblown video resume is triggering an Internet firestorm rivaling Paris Hilton's sex video.

Aleskey Vayner, a senior history major, envisioned himself as a perfect candidate for Wall Street power, boasting of an "insatiable appetite for success" and a credo to always "ignore losers."

Instead, he unleashed a torrent of outrage and jokes on the 'Net, where his slick video resume was derided as egotistical bunk loaded with fakery, such as a karate chop through seven red bricks and a scene supposedly portraying him bench-pressing 495 pounds.

Comments ranged from "You can't make up this s***" to "planned fakery" to "This is a joke, right?"

It prompted Vayner to yank it from his own Web site and a handful of others.

The video has made the rounds at firms including UBS, Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan Chase, Credit Suisse Group and Wachovia Corp., among others.

Vayner told Dow Jones he might sue UBS for breach of privacy because he sent his paper resume to UBS with a cover letter saying he would "consider a career" offer from the firm.

UBS spokesman Kris Kagel said the firm is reviewing the matter and that it strictly follows all privacy laws when considering its hundreds of monthly applicants. "To the extent that any policy was breached, it will be dealt with appropriately."

In the six-minute ego-mercial, Vayner narrates his own self-promotion. One segment purports to show him bench-pressing 495 pounds, with his voiceover bragging how his "physical fitness reflects mental sharpness."

Vayner also displays himself mastering ballroom rumba, skiing and tennis.

Critics say the video also fails to show any tennis opponents, just him hitting oncoming balls, but it does show him nearly falling off his skis at one point. In his rumba routine with a sexy professional dancer twirling in a micro-mini, Vayner's feet can't be seen.

Clearly, Aleksey Vayner deserves it. In the four days since we (cough exclusively! cough) posted the video the Yale senior commissioned of himself and attached to some i-banking applications, dozens of people have shared their Aleksey stories with us.

...

A member of the Yale tennis team wrote in to dispute Aleksey's claim that he competed on the Satellite tour: "I played for Yale tennis, and he tried to walk on the team. He got cut the second day. I had one conversation with him, and he claimed to have KILLED 24 people in the caves of Tibet."

(Other great comments: "I too played for Yale tennis, and Vayner/Garber claimed that he has trouble flying on planes because he has to register his hands as lethal weapons each time he goes to an airport."
:lol :lol

Hmmm... just looked up his facebook profile, which of course has the obligatory shirtless flexing pic. This does seem like one of those way-too-clever, all-bases-covered Ivy League pranks.

Hilarious either way.

It's pure bullshit. I've never heard of this guy before reading about it on a news article. You would think that such "an internet phenomenon" as described in the artice would have been discussed here or at SA or any other internet forum.

It was the same thing with LonelyGirl15. Nobody had heard about her until news articles started talking about her. I havent heard ANYTHING about her and that guy on any of the forums i visit. Not a peep, nothing. Mainstream medias are always weeks (if not months) behinds internet stuff sometimes, just think about Chuck Norris, Snake on a Plane, Mahir,
ORLY, All your base are belong to us, and etc. When they reached the media, they had already reached their peak and were on their way down

Now, somehow, we learn about those new "super popular internet phenomenons" from random newspapers article..

Sad thing is, some company is going to watch this and say, "Yale huh? Well he looks like management material!"

ps: his nipples frighten me.

Yeah really. I'm not calling you an idiot, Shuri, but on the surface your post appears to be one of the most incoherent and self-contradictory things I've seen on this forum in a few days.

This is a sweeping generalisation, and I know it's not true really, but he is just like every American I've ever met in "real" life. Vain, cocky, arrogant, bullsh*tting tossers. From Trump and his Apprentice show it seems that to get on in business you have to be like this.

Though from Sugar and the UK apprentice we've got plenty like that too.

Also, maybe I should become more like this as I've never been a success in anything in my life, bar getting a couple of degrees. No money, dead-end job...

My new motto: Impossible is nothing!

Really? No shit. The more I see non-americans express their opinions on americans, the more I realize they're just as oblivious about us as they think we are of them.

What?

Well obviously! I'm just talking about the Americans I work with and those who came to train us. Like I said, I know it's not the general rule!
Where have you been the past while? :)

Dammit. I'm an American and I feel the same wasy as Kojacker.

I'm moving to Canada one of these days.

*Your city here*'s football team sucks! *cheap pop*
