Rick and Morty is goddamn hilarious

I loved the use of Cronenberg as both a noun and verb in the last episode.

Rick said:
Boy Morty I really Cronenberged the world up, didn't I? Just a whole bunch of Cronenbergs walkin' around down there, huh?

And that fucking ending... Rick going the laziest route possible to set everything straight, at the expense of scarring Morty for life.

Watched every episode I could find on youtube, loved every one so far.

EDIT - looks like I have watched every episode. For some reason I thought "Rick Potion #9" meant it was the 9th episode. Oops! Well, good to be caught up.

Morty - "Hey yo, Scary T. Don't even trip about your pants...dawg. Here's a pair on us fool."
Scary Terry - "awww biiitch. I don't know what to say."
Morty - "You don't have to say anything, we got you dawg."
Rick - "You're our boy dawg, don't even trip."

Ha, I was the same. Thought I was trippin' up or something.

I guess people just don't remember or know of that 1992 "classic" movie, Love Potion No. 9 (to which the title Rick Potion #9 refers) :-\ It stars a young Sandra Bullock in it (and a young Tate Donovan as well) :-)

Am I the only one who noticed that the sound effects were poorly executed in the latest episode?

the audio mix was apparently off on the broadcast version.

Oh thank god, I thought my home theater was starting to mess up or something. The center channel was way louder and almost nothing was coming out of the L and R. Lost a lot of music and sound effects. Good to know it wasn't just me.

Oh no, I understood the reference without a problem, but I STILL got confused for whateva reason. =(

I found this thread when it was but a wee <50 posts. Got me hooked on the show! Never found the thread again to say thanks until now.

Rick and Morty has nowhere to go but up!

"Why would a Pop Tart want to live inside a toaster?"

This is the first episode I saw and i was almost crying.

"Why don't you go ask the Super Intelligent Alien race that question? OH that's right. You can't. *swig*"

genius level shit. Definitely a fan.

My DVR says the next 2 weeks will be repeats. Lawnmower Dog followed by Anatomy Park. No info on the week after that.

Where are my new episodes, Summer?

Yup, this show is real good.
Caught up on all the episodes in one week, glad I saw 6 first because it sold me much more than the pilot would have.
Also not sure if everybody knows, but I only just realised that if you wait a bit every episode besides the first has a great little extra scene after the credits.

Look at me!! I'm Mr. Meeseeks.
Show's awesome. The way they ended last week's (flu) episode was just brilliant. I loved the contrast between Rick's indifference and Morty's coming to terms with
living their lives in an alternate universe.

Good to know. Cartoon Network's audio has been messing up even when I was watching yesterday. I thought it might just be a local thing.
I see someone else online affected too.

Hey, remember when I posted this?

Wow, I'm surprised to see all of the positive impressions in here. I work at Gamestop and there was a god-awful promo on Gamestop TV all throughout the month of November. For some reason I can't find it on youtube, but it's the one where Rick and Morty are facing the camera and then the doc proves to the kid that it's just a promo by making him turn to reveal that his backside hasn't been animated. I must have seen that shitty commercial over 150 times while working, and it really, REALLY soured me on ever wanting to watch the show.

GAF has rarely led me astray in the past though, and I DO love Adventure Time, so I guess I'll reluctantly check the first episode out.

Well guess what, I FOUND the promo that I was subjected to:

Imagine seeing that literally over a hundred times in less than a MONTH and having absolutely NO OUTSIDE KNOWLEDGE about the show. For the longest time I thought it was a Disney XD cartoon, because I would always turn away from the commercial before the final half second screen where it shows the [adult swim] label. My impression was that this show was going to rely on gross-out body humor and low-grade meta jokes in order to draw in the least common denominator.

...

Holy shit. What an awful promo that was, because this is literally the funniest cartoon I have ever seen. Funnier than early Archer, Adventure Time, and even fucking Venture Bros. (though I still think VB is better overall)

It is brilliant, and Rick is one of the best animated characters in any sitcom ever, animated or otherwise.

I absolutely LOVED how dark the ending got in the most recent episode.
My favorite aspect of that part was how Morty's parents grew as a couple throughout the episode, and in the new universe Morty is in they are back to being on the verge of a divorce

If they keep that sort of shit up they could easily surpass Futurama in terms of emotional poignancy. It's already infinitely more hilarious (and I really like Futurama too)

Thank you SO FREAKING MUCH, Messofanego. If not for this thread I would have never given this show a chance, but because of your post I now can see it having the potential to rank in my top 5 favorite comedies of all time.

I can't say enough positive things about it. It is just so, SO incredible.

Hahaha, seeing that for the first time I thought it was hillarious, but I can totally understand you despising it after hearing it a hundred times.

Cool to see you gave the show a chance and now ended up about as far away from your initial feelings about it as possible.

Are you fucking kidding me with that ending? Holy Shit, Morty's expression will haunt my dreams tonight. I cannot believe they went with that ending. It was like watching an animated episode of The Outer Limits. Fucking hell...

I'd been hearing strong reviews so I watched some of this show. The pilot was AWFUL and the second episode was better but not fantastic. I just saw the latest (I think) episode. I can respect the ending to Love Potion #9, seriously good stuff. That being said, I couldn't stand to look at my TV screen during the whole "cronenberg" portion of the episode. The show had already been dabbling in some gross humor from what I'd seen but that was too much. I really don't want to expose myself to more stuff like that and I know stuff like that is on the table for the future n this show. I think I'm going to have to conclusively pass on this show :( Sorry.

It wasn't that gross?

I laughed.

That is one weak stomach you've got.

Is there no new episode tonight? Schedule is saying Lawnmower Dog is on tonight.

How long should it be until we get new episodes again? There's still 5 episodes left in the season :(
