Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago?
If he accepted the role, it would've been a bit role and people would say he did it for more money(even if that wasn't remotely true).
Thats a stretch.
This is awesome. I'm glad there's someone who can say no to projects like this.
Why? It's what his fans would have wanted, to see their favorite classic characters make cameos while a whole new generation is introduced to GhostBusters. Something for the new generation and something for the older generation. Win-win to me.
The guy is a comedian not some heavy drama actor. His portfolio involves "The Little Giants", THREE "Honey I Shrunk/Blew up the Kids", "SpaceBalls" and "The Flintstones". How is he "too good" to show up for a GhostBusters cameo like the bulk of the cast for his fans?

Without Candy, though? It would be an amazing send-off for his career and Mel's career.
The feels in this rebuttal.More like, honey who passed away from cancer and made me step back and reevaluate what was important in my life.
He just doesn't care for it? I mean, he stopped acting to raise his children. His priorities probably changed. They asked him to do a cameo on a movie series he was already part of, and to him it wasn't worth it. Sure you can say 'but it's for the fans', but sometimes the fans should take into consideration what the actor wants.
Why is he obligated? He doesn't owe anyone anything.
Since when does Rick Moranis have to do what "the fans" want? Fuck that noise.
He stopped acting to raise his children. I can understand and wholly respect that.
Nerds who have hard-ons for shoe-horning fanservice cameos into popular IPs can't.
Without Candy, though?
Your missing the point. He stopped acting for 18 years to raise his kids. They are now 18 or more years old and most likely wealthy. He is free to act and seems to want to seeing as he doesn't want to be considered "retired". So if you want movie studios to invest in involving you in movies you have to appeal to your fanbase or even let them know your not dead. A cameo in the new and most likely successful GhostBusters movies would go a long way to brining him back to relevancy. I mean other seasoned actors are cameoing in the same movie and aren't as thirsty to act.
Except he is out right stating he wants to work on something he's interested in, and he's not interested in this. Where are you picking up he's thirsty? He directly says he still turns down roles. He's been away 18 yrs and not in a hurry to jump into a crappy cameo he's not interested in,or in a hurry in general.Your missing the point. He stopped acting for 18 years to raise his kids. You are missing the point. This interview isn't some yell for attention or desperation move. He has worked on stuff in the last 18 years. If he is interested in a project, he will work on it. He wasn't interested in a appearing in a reboot of a franchise he was already a part of. That's it.

While I respect the hell out of him for leaving on his own terms to raise his kids (after his wife's passing), he's done multiple interviews like this, and it comes off as weird. There's definitely a bit of arrogance to what he's said over the years, as if he's some incredibly established dramatic actor, when it's like: "Dude, you were a reasonably successful comedic actor who cashed in on a couple of franchises."
It's great that he wants to be picky. Go ahead and do that. But to have multiple interviews where you're basically telling people to back off and announce that you're picky about roles? It's a weird look. He's a guy who achieved success kind of in spite of his abilities, and it's left him in a position that few actors enjoy. But it's probably also made him lose sight of what he really was as an actor.
He is looking real good, but then again im comparing him to Murray who looks like shit all the time.
Maybe it's his nice way of saying, "Look, I get that you people can't let your 80s nostalgia go. I did, so fuck off. Give me something new to do. PS I don't want to do comedy, thanks."

Totally valid. And I applaud him for wanting to diversify. I wouldn't want him to do some lazy cash-in crap.
But then I would point out that it's interesting that he's been in this holding pattern for so long, waiting for roles. You know, maybe there's a chance that studios don't really feel he'd be a capable actor for these "other" roles he seems to want. Just a thought.

Guy takes care of kids after wife dies from cancer instead of giving a fuck about fame and fortune.
"lol lets mock that loser"
Studios think a lot of dumb shit that I don't agree with.
This might be disrespectful, but if Spaceballs 2 comes to pass, I want Barf to not be in it, and I want Mel Brooks to write this dark joke:
Lone Starr leaves Druidia and goes on space adventures. He eventually returns for his appearance in the second movie, only Barf isn't with him. Princess Vespa and the others wonder where Barf is.
"Where is your partner? The mawg, Barf?"
"Well...I had to put him down".
Is that too dark and/or disrespectful for Brooks?
It's time

Oh, I agree. Studios are ridiculous. But are any of us really clamoring for Rick Moranis' dramatic turn? Frankly, I'm not. I like the guy for a few things he's done, but there are plenty of other people who I'd rather watch in film than him. But maybe he's got some giant fanbase that's really pining for his big comeback.
