By "tax" people mean they're taxing Nintendo customers for the privilege of feeding their new console with games when there aren't loads available. The idea is that we will buy whatever comes our way because we're thirsty for games for our new devices.
I'm planning on buying several indie games down the line on Switch but I'm not going to pay 10 bucks more vs the other platforms because reasons. Tequila Works needs to re-evaluate themselves over placing blame on the Switch audience if the game bombs on the platform.Send a message to never release anything on Switch.
People NEED to buy this. So publishers will have confidence and will expect good sales.
The publisher already did, I doubt Tequilla had any say into this. Will these devs come out and say something?

Oh don't be so negative. Switch is a new console that uses a different media format from their competition, costs will naturally be higher. Add in that the install base is going to be low for awhile and that this is a new game studio and you should be able to see why they're charging more.
Whether they ate the extra costs and went for price parity, or charged more (as they chose to do) they're taking on a potential risk. In this case they just seem to have decided that the latter option is the better fit for them. Time will tell if it pays off.
Puyo Puyo Tetris is flat out not releasing a physical version on PS4 due to Tetris licensing reasons.Puyo only costs more physical though. It's the 29.99 like PS4 if you want it digital. Though yeah odd that the physical prices aren't the same.
Didn't any indie developer mention, how easy it is to port there games to the console? I call bullshit.http://twitter.com/RiMEGame/status/839533127001329665
"The MSRP of the Switch version is based on development and go-to-market costs, which can vary for each platform."
edit - ah that's not Tequila, sorry
Yeah cartridges are expensive and I'm guessing Nintendo needs brick and mortar for visibility, so they don't want the digital price to undercut the physical price, at least for now. PSN has also been significantly more expensive than physical shops for at least the first two years of PS4 being on the market.
I don't think cartridges are 10 more expensive though.
Nintendo tax? Super lame.

What does this have to do with Nintendo?!
I can be as negative as I want, i'm a consumer, i'm not paying more money for this than I have to. I'll support other devs and titles instead, like Blaster Master Zero tomorrow.
Chillax a bit my man,I'm not telling you to buy the game. Heck, I don't plan on buying it as I don't like the decision they made. I just offered a counter-explantation for why they might have made this choice that isn't "they're an evil business that wants to milk you dry".
Lol if stardrew valley gets 10$ increase it's gone be wack.
Royalties? Cartridges price?

You did, but it did not convince me that they're not price gouging Switch owners because they can.
Yeah I agree. It's not always "evil business" but one thing we've seen again and again is that if consumers do support it then other publishers will do it because why not?
I'm sure they have a reason for this. Stupid move though
You can't put a price on portability. At least that's what I've been told. The way I see it if you can argue switch is worth the higher price because it's portable, I don't see anything wrong with developers charging more for a portable experience. Also they are a small developer probably not as easy for them to eat the extra cost of cartridges.
I trust SEGA to not be as dumb as these guys.
Speaking of Sega, this reminds me of Puyo Puyo Tetris's pricing:
PS4 digital: $29.99
PS4 physical: $29.99
Switch digital: $29.99
Switch physical: $39.99
So gonna guess manufacturing costs for physical Switch games are pricier than for physical PS4/Xbox One games.
What does this have to do with Nintendo?!
I don't get it. So they're announcing the EU price with taxes, but not the US one ? And they're the only publisher in the world to do so ?
What does this have to do with Nintendo?!
Nothing, but people like to blame the wrong party whenever they're able to.
Nintendo killed their children and ate their wives.
Physical Switch version includes some goodies. Also, the game is not releasing digitally on PS4 at all. That may be why they wanted to have a low price on PS4 physical, since they're the only way to sell the game.
And, at least Puyo Puyo has a digital cheaper option.
*snip*
Well, no doubt the carts do cost a lot more to manufacture than discs. So, I personally don't mind that pricing structure too much. Plus, with GCU I get the Switch cart for $32, and keep my consumer ownership rights.Speaking of Sega, this reminds me of Puyo Puyo Tetris's pricing:

You're really overestimating the cost of the couple of keychains it comes with. :V
I didn't blame Nintendo...? I merely said that Nintendo fans are getting taxed (IE, a Nintendo tax) in order to play on our system...?
