Rising Thunder - new PC, UE4, Free-to-Play fighter from Seth Killian

I'm not involved with the development, but the guys that are, kick ass! They know fighting games inside and out, so I definitely trust their direction.

I have, however, played a ton of matches! =)

You're a monster. I hate you ;)

Edit: The game is fun guys, not everything needs to be the same...

How did I miss this game? I love everything I've seen about it. The art style is right up my alley - like a new Tech Romancer.

Signed up for the Alpha and fingers are crossed...

Well where are the impressions. Someone here had to have gotten a key, we need to live vicariously through you.

It's awesome. I'll put up my stream again tonight and do some rundowns of each character's tricks and such.

The game is a lot of fun, and I know it's early as hell so I can't expect too much, especially not with many people on, but damn do I hope they implement some sort of matchmaking soon. Being continually matched up with a grappler in 300 ping matches has a way of turning a guy off from wanting to play more. >_>

I think the guy I'm watching on twitch is getting matched against that same grappler player. GGPO3 can't handle dat 300 ping.

I was getting around 100-300 ping and it was pretty rough. Dunno if its my router or what but it wasn't feeling smooth on my end. Game is fun though, just gotta get over my brain wanting to play SF4 keeping doing wrong inputs and getting wrecked (on top of already being a scrub).

Heh, yeah I've lost a few rounds by trying to tech throws with LP+LK. Muscle memory can be a hurtful thing.

Played one recently against YoTornado that was pretty good. Then I played some few randos with connections that felt like they were under the sea, through the world twice, through a volcano and then back onto the network. Pretty brutal.

I might've gotten to play this once or twice before!

It's a lot of fun, to be honest, but the bad connections are so awful that I'm taking a break.

So remap it?

i did, and i tried using both keyboard and my mad catz te-s stick. i mean the whole 3 buttons + 3 special buttons. what really throws me off is the seperate throw button. cant they map the super move to pressing all 3 special moves, and throw mapped to all 3 normal buttons? i feel like i'm fighting against my own muscle memory in this game rather than the opponent at times. game is really fun otherwise though... hopefully i'll get used to it.

Call me a scrub, but I really enjoy the low execution barrier. I can actually concentrate on strategy and play the game.

playing keyboard as well, cray

Keyboard is actually not that crazy of an input method in fighters. I've seen people play air dashers using keyboards; I think that input method was even banned in some tournaments for an unfair advantage.

For something like Rising Thunder, I could see it being totally viable.

Cross post from fgc weekly:

Running RT on maxed settings. 4790k + 970. Runs real good. I mean there's really nothing going on in the backgrounds, but smooth is smooth.

Games kinda fun. My stick isn't working with the game so I'm messing with pad. I played a set against some guy. He knew combos and how to extend combos. I almost beat him with just normals, 2 and 1's into supers and anti airs, but he got me with a super haha.

Online felt pretty good. There was some dropped frames (felt like a stutter/slowdown), but the ping was good. I have no clue on my opponents specs or connection so its hard to guage where the issue lies.

It has potential to be a fun fighting game. Is it the next best thing? Way too early to tell, but if they have the online setup where it can sustain it self, it could be the start of something big in the future.

The only way to get my stick working is joy2key. Though, I'm not the biggest fan of using it. Once I get the stick working I want to play more and learn all the current characters.

Played a bit tonight and had a blast.

So happy to see a Greek character, and I love how each character speaks their native language. Even though Talos isn't the type of character I'd normally play, I still had so much fun playing him, and I'm determined to learn.

Will definitely put a lot of time into this game.

Playing as Vlad right now. The game is excellent, and definitely will be a lot of fun to play with my non fighting game friends as a "Here you go. Specials are now one button. Still get rekt" thing. I think it's great that something like this finally exists to bridge the gap between Street Fighter and the wider audience out there.

I'll have a walkthrough of Vlad's tools up in a little bit. This character has some great (Hella OD) stuff.
