If they kill pro evo as well I will actually cry.
Me too. I'll sob for weeks.

Problem is (for us who enjoy the games) is that they have other "uses" for those IPs unlike THQ
Yeah, given that the Silent Hill creator went on to make Siren, having him go back to Silent Hill seems a bit backwards (as good as Silent Hill was, I still think Siren is the better horror series). And in any case, he seems to be having more fun with Gravity Rush anyway.
Has there ever been an instance of companies selling off their IPs when they weren't on the brink of bankruptcy? At best, you might see them license them out to another company on a game by game basis.
No way to the first one. It's got similarities but it's far, far from "a perfect successor."
And a big "hell no" to the second one. I don't even know what to say to that.

It wouldn't be unusual for a company to sell off its IP, but retain rights to use the IP in certain areas (their gambling business).
I'm willing to concede that LoS might be a better CV than BB, but in no way are its sequels worthy of the franchise name. Also, the last (and only, BTW) CV to beat BB on metacritic is none other than SotN, so take that with a huge pile of salt.
Also, please name me the last Silent Hill that was even close to BB in quality. Sadly, not a single game in the series, even the great SH2, beats BB on metacritic, so I'd have to say the data's against you there as well.
Thanks for playing, though!
Yeah, Sony should get that Silent Hill ip and reform Team Silent + Kojima Pro as part of Studio Japan.Just the Metal Gear IP?
Make an offer, Atlus!

Grab Castlevania while they're there too.
Why doesn't someone just break into Konami HQ, steal the IPs and then sell them to a decent publisher?
atlus doesn't have any money D:
I think someone said this on gaf recently but Konami needs to sell their IPs to the lowest bidder and fuck off
Oh my god Metal Gear Rising 2 isn't happening.
This just hit me
Why would Konami sell their stable of IPs when they can just use them for pachinko and mobile games?
It's tragic but it is what it is.
That's what I thought when they bought Hudson, and they still canceled games that were done and were literally weeks away from release like that new Bonk game and that Bomberman game. Konami is just a shit company that has no interest in exploiting their IP's for anything really. It just makes no sense to exit that business 100% when there is fairly easy revenue streams to be had through leveraging their IP and back catalog on modern systems and PC at low risk.
Even if they never invest another dollar into new games development, they could make easy money off older games being re-released on PC and consoles..
At least sell off the ip like contra, castlevania, gradius, etc if its just going to go unused and ignored..

Allow Sony to acquire the Metal Gear IP.
God forbid EA or Activision get their hands on it.
Or maybe he's in touch with reality that console gaming is pretty much a dinosaur in Japan and that their money now comes from the health clubs and gambling machines.
Why even bother attaching these IP to pachinko machines anyway though?
Because they can, that's all. Konami owns them, so they'll do with them what they wish. Why even bother attaching these IP to pachinko machines anyway though?

Is Konami making money on mobile. If they are, I would get out of the console game too. If your game bombs, you aren't putting the whole company in jeopardy.
Or he is comparing the numbers of AAA games vs taping in Mobile gaming before the bubble burst, and Gambling machines......as any smart CEO would do. Even though that sucks for us gamers.
Its probably how early Nintendo Fans felt when they stop selling cards, and toys and went into video games.
Konami obviously isn't leaving the console market (or at least the Metal Gear market) when they're posting vacancies for a new Metal Gear team.
They do make games, and they presumably profit from them, but the realisation that they no longer rely on them to sustain their business isn't a terribly revelatory one and hasn't been for some time.
