Rock Band UK Price Set?

Source: http://www.strategyinformer.com/news/727/rockband-uk-price-set

Gamers have been wondering how much Rock Band is going to cost in the UK, many believe that it'll be over £100, although EA has made no official announcement about a price point.

But an online shop called Scan.co.uk believes that the complete Game, which includes Fender Stratocaster Guitar/ Drum + Sticks Controllers & Microphone, will cost £158.61 Inc VAT. That's what they've got listed.

I really hope Scan is just making a wild "educated" guess. If the final price is anything close to that, then.. Screw Rock Band.

Did anyone really expect it to be under £100?
I was expecting £120 ish tops. Not £150.

EA are gonna kill this game. Activision messed up with Guitar Hero, partially due to pricing, and it hasn't become as big a franchise in Europe as it is in America: so excitement for Rock Band is less, and if EA make a single screwup with this game it's gonna be near dead.

I didn't expect it to be cheaper than the US... our stuff never is. But I didn't expect it to be near a $1 = £1 conversion rate, however popular that can be for electronics.

If Rock Band is going to actually be £150 then they can say goodbye to any proper success here. GH3 is very popular here already, and as much as people may say that RB is better value, £70 vs £150 is a massive leap, and not many people will value RB at twice that of GH, in my opinion.

I'm excited as hell for Rock Band, but they're mad if they think I'll pay £150 for it.

It costs about $170 in the states doesn't it?

At the very least, Rock Band has to come in under the £120 mark. Charging more than that would be daylight robbery.

I think I could be persuaded to pay £120. Don't think I'd pay more on principal alone.

But the thing is, even though GH3 is popular, it's not as popular as in the States (I blame Activision), so RB at £150 would be suicide. Like, actually suicide.

Indeed, I know many people who see the £70 price tag for GH3 (And the GH games before that) and shudder, myself included, it's hard enough to justify paying that for a game + perhipheral, let alone £150!

£150, for prespective, will almost buy you a 360 Arcade (£160), and will almost get you a PS2/GH2/3 bundle if you ask nicely.

If it releases at that price it would actually cost more than a 360 arcade in the UK (£139.99).
Interesting, who is selling them at that price? that said, most retailers are putting a "free" game with the £160 RRP for a 360 arcade, Argos had 5 free games (2 of them being XBLA ones, granted), going for Easter.

If the price is over £99 then it will be delayed until christmas, otherwise it would be commercial suicide.
I cant see something this expensive selling in rip off UK.

The game isn't region free, but I think that buying the complete package from the states and then buying only the PAL disk without the instruments, could save us some moneys due to the strong Euro. I'll have to check.

You'd need to buy an American 360 then. Or, a Playstation 3, as games are region free on that (right?). You'd have the advantage of having a PS3 (if you didn't have one already), and if you're importing Rock Band, it might also be cheaper just to import a PS3.
And whilst importing an American 360 would cost less, you'd get less use afterwards (unless you imported more games) and it's more likely to fail than a PS3. Whilst Rock Band instruments may fail, I think it's nothing I (or rather, my dad) can't fix.

^^ Shopto is awesome.

I can't believe it's going to cost that much. I still have to get it though
No, ShopTO are not awesome any more. Ever since they advertised WiiFit pre orders for £30 for months and then jacked up the price to £69, refusing to honour their original price.

Date please!!!!!

if no date at the end of the week, im importing (guys who have loking into this I'll need your help)

Literacy FTW.

and then buying only the PAL disk without the instruments

Oh right, I read that as getting it to play early: not just getting it cheaper. More of an understanding mistake than a reading one. I'm a bit wrapped up in this importing malarkey for this game, looking in to it now.

Oh my god! Everyone hate on shopto because they need to make a profit to survive!

GAME is going with the assumption it'll be between £130-£150. Well this is the info that had been sent to stores.

eBay or another store I found in Sheffield can sort you out for 200 notes.

What a silly thread. Some no name website has put up preorders at an overestimated price. This means nothing. Now way will it be over £150. I'm guessing £130, and I'd probably buy it for that, much over and it's getting stupid.

With the shitty hardware, importing for us europeans isn't exactly a good deal. But damn, I have been very close to hiting the last confirm payment button on www.vgp.ca :(

VGP charge more for the shipping than the actual game (85 quid for the game, 120 quid for shipping) and then there's import duty in the UK which would easily push you beyond 200 quid total cost. Ebay is still the cheapest option from what I can see...

Check out the site. They are importing US PS3 rock band and selling it on at a profit. ( note the site says it`ll be in stock soon, no 360 version etc)

THIS IS NOT A EURO PRICE MARKER.

NOTHING TO SEE HERE ETC ETC.
