Rockman (Megaman) ZX sequel confirmed

I hope it's in 3-d and is a FPS, but not really because you can't aim it has lock on and lots of adventure so it's more like a FPA and I hope it has a huge overworld and backtracking and shit. That would be the dogs bollocks.
aye...metroid prime was good

I thought ZX did horrible numbers. Guess this says something about MM games' budgets(aside the PSP remakes I guess). :P
IIRC Capcom liked the sales of Okami and MMZX even though they were obviously low.

MMZX has sold about 180k in NA and Japan. Obviously, those sales must be enough to generate a fairly healthy return on investment for Capcom.

MMZX2 better have PoR level 2D and full English VA for cutscenes

And fix the soundtrack good god the soundtrack

Huh? I'm not seeing anything in PoR (aside from a few 3D backgrounds) that really sets it apart from MMZX graphically

Eh, I pretty much covered this on the other Rockman topic the other day...:D

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5335623#post5335623

But any way, I'm mostly hoping that they'll first tweak what they got, and then expand on it from there.

For instance...if you're going to try and give this particular Rockman series a "Metroid-ization" make-over...do the map system RIGHT, perhaps? Even Kid Icarus for the GB didn't make it THAT much of an issue just to get around and try to find the right way to go. So really...either get it right, or just go back to classic levels, because the way it is certainly leaves plenty to be desired...

And also, the Model forms. X, ZX(OX) and HX take the cream of the crop, while the others are definitely more specialized forms that don't have a practical use 60% of the time. Considering the kind of cool moves the Shitenou/Guardians had in the Zero series, it really makes no sense why these forms should be watered down so much. Cases in point...I want Harpuia's Flying Grab, Fafnir's better Gun attacks, Phantom's "Ride my Windmill Shuriken while I rain Kunai down on you", and Leviathan's superior ice techniques. Giving us a version of their Super techs would be great as well. Do all that, and then I'd be willing to accept new Models into the fold.

And while I'm thinking about it...what's the big idea, making it so Zero's "Ultimate Form" (Omega) got in the game, but we couldn't get the chance to basically play as "Copy X" with X's Ultimate Armor (more or less)? We get it already, you're trying to please the Zero fanboys. But don't forget us X/Blue Bomber devotees too...!

Finally...how about some decent co-op modes of play? Castlevania's done it, and that was a series that didn't already have a "Power Battle" type of thing as a precedent. Just give me and my pals a chance to team up in a variety of Boss Only modes (ranging from easy to something beyond the highest difficulty!), and see how much time it takes us, or how long we can last. But in any case...it's been a good lil while since we've been treated to anything along the lines of Power Batle, and I would like to see a new one made. Especially when a game like ZX practically is asking for one...^_^

I was actually quite disappointed with the models, I thought they were gonna have the cool moves the guardians used in Zero1-2-3. Px was such a big disappointment specially ;_;

the whole system is a great idea but I felt the potential was wasted at least in ZX1 we'll see what they do with them in ZX2 if they do end up bringing back that system

great. now MMPU2 for DS pls :D

DS is fine, but I would probably prefer such a possible thing of beauty to appear on the Wii, actually.

With the Wii, we'd probably be able to trade our levels in a much more convenient fashion, plus have a means to store 'em.

And, hell, wouldn't it be nice if we could integrate our "Miis" into the game as extra characters, along side the originals and other unlockables? :lol

I hope they do something.. eh, interesting with the music this time around. The Rockman series used to be the epitome of videogame music back in the days (and still are if you go back to the older games in the series) but Rockman ZX only had "elevator music". Not bad music per se, but very uninteresting and not very memorable.

All the levels were connected in MMZ1, so you could walk your way around if you wanted if you weren't doing a stage.

I think the same, also ZX tunes was a disappointment for me, they make a better job with Idea, Telos or even Physis. On the news, Capcom already stated that they are happy with ZX sales, it was a matter of time that they announced a sequel, hope we will see some screen soon.

Seriously. The only two tunes that stood out even a little was the standard boss fight and the final stage theme.

If Capcom is aware and can see the faults in ZX, then ZX Advent could be the best Mega Man game since MMZ2.

I'd really love nothing better than to believe that...

But for every bit of time that we really see them take the series to new heights (re: MM2, MMX, MM7, MM8, MMX4, MMZero1-3, and both PSP games), there's always the chance that we get another thing like MM6, MMX6 and MMX7.

Thankfully, with Inticreates at the helm, I don't think they've ever churned out a "bad" game...it's just been more along the lines of "how good is this particular Zero title, eh"? And seeing how Z2 and Z3 were, to me, the split parts of the Zero series' zenith, I'm looking forward to ZX2 being something special. Especially since, ideally, now that they have the ideal engine and concept down, they can work on really making things run smoothly, and better than before.

oh and yeah fix the ****ing map

or at least put the letters next to each other instead of wherever there is a free spot.

Get that stupid map out of my megaman games please. It felt sooooo out of place. I should be jumping right into the action, not looking up on gamfaqs every five god damn seconds OK SO I'M IN H I NEED TO GET TO W. So stupid.

This is exactly how I feel. I don't want any story or trying to figure out where I need to go. Just give me a boss screen and I'll be good to go.

Sweet. I still feel like ZX was my favorite DS game last year, so if they make it a little easier to see your current location on the map, balance the weapons better (saber is crappy for taking on bosses, but the buster is overpowered) and then add whatever else they want, it should be great. This is one sequel I'm not worried about, given the track record with Inticreates' Zero series.

Sweet, I can't wait to play this sequel, especially with the Megaman, number is almost always the best in the series (MM2, MMX2, MMZ2, hell even Battle Network 2 !), ZX system is just awesome, they just need to fix a few stuff and we're good for another mother ****ing game.

Seriously, they just need to fix the mission system (why not teleporting directly to the area you need like Z1? or just fix the map maybe, anyway, it's not that broken), just put some hardcore and interesting level, new models, awesome boss battle, seriously, they don't need to change much to continue making awesome game, I can see 4 or 5 ZX game in the next year, and Inti proved with Zero that they can come up with a new awesome game every year. I wish the ranking system would come back too.

Anyway, Megaman is one of the few series that rarely disappoint me

edit : ohhh, and we need the ability to skip the cinematics and dialogs in the first playthrough, MMZ and ZX often discourage people to play these games, those morons don't know what they miss though

Get rid of the whole overworld (selectable bosses FTW) and the stupid anime storytelling crap and I'll be more than happy.

I never played much of ZX. This whole Metroid shit needs to end in all games that aren't Metroid. I just want to go from Level 1 to Level 2...

jarosh said:
did you ever play megaman at all?

I played the NES ones. I went in to this knowing what I was getting, I just thought I'd be able to overlook it. But I just don't get any enjoyment from wondering around looking for missions.

EDIT 3 (Heat again): Woah more? Well, going over GMB's entry again, it'd appear the headline for the original EG article, before it was removed, stated that Advent will be for the DS and is in fact a legitimate sequel to the original ZX, not a spin-off. Hopefully the article will come back up soon for some extra clarification.

wooo

that site probably had info but took it out quickly probably because capcom's ninjas

Very nice! Likin' da logo.

Hopefully they won't have to delay til the middle of summer to release this baby. If I remember correctly, when the first Rockman Zero came out back in like Mar/April 2001(?), the following sequels debuted pretty much without fail every February the next year.

So, if ZX came out in June/July last year...might that mean we get to see this by possibly....April/May? :D

Can't wait...

I hope they give us all new forms instead of just tweaking a few of the old ones and giving us like 1 or 2 new ones.

Absolutely. All new forms please. Don`t recycle any of the forms from the first one. And give us easy access to X PLEASE!

But this IS Inticreates/Capcom. They don't throw away what works that easily. Just look at how many times the EX Skills and different animations were re-cycled between the Zero games, alone. As ZX is nothing more than a continuation, I think it's safe to presume that a large number of what they introduced in this first game is going to be present throughout the entire series.

Still, I think it's also safe to presume that they'll probably introduce a number of new forms, in addition to hopefully giving a healthy number of buffs to the old ones too (especially FX and LX). After all, as much as playing the old models was fun, if they were just re-used again, with no variety in sight, there wouldn't be much incentive to "play it again, Joe!", right?

That said, I'm predicting we'll probably get a "new" series of (at least) 4 Live Metals that fill similar roles to the first 4, in addition to the 4 we already have, which will (hopefully) be upgraded and better than before by the time we get them back. They'll probably just make some sort of storyline excuse to make it so we can't use the Original 4 right away, giving us all the more incentive to get the new 4 and try 'em for size.

And again, all I ask is, if they bother to include Omega and "Model O", they better include Copy X as a boss too, so that we can have an upgraded X form to use. Hell, why not make Omega and Copy X a tag team? That'd probably would be the most fun boss fight since Vile vs. X and Zero in MHX! :D

I'm hoping that they flesh out the upgrading aspect of the live metals. Make it more than just the ammo bar. Allow us to upgrade either different capabilities like HX's air dashing, or unlock EX skills or something. And maybe even do a DMC-ish thing where the rank for beating a boss/mission gives more EC the better you do.

It's pretty difficult to rank the MMZ games, they all have their strength and flaws, they're all the same, but at the same time, they're all different.

Anyway, MMZ has the best overall design, the mission system and the whole map is really great, there's leveling and all, which I don't really like, but there must be some fans over here. It's also the hardest one.

MMZ2 has some really varied levels, no leveling shit, and awesome armor system, and it feature the best weapon (chain road > *). The boss are slightly better than in 1.

MMZ3 finally has a great elf system, the levels are really good, and the overall game is great. There are some really good armor parts such as the shadow dash, the auto charge, and other stuff that makes the game really fun. And finaly we can skip cutscene and all. All in all, I'd say, Z3 has the best gameplay mechanics.

MMZ4 has the best levels I've ever seen in a Megaman, and maybe in a plate form game. It's just insane, the big canon, the magnetic stuff, the level with the sun burning you, every ****ing level features and awesome idea. I was blown away by the level design of that game, the weapon system is pretty good if you take the time to experience the different weapon you can steal. The is a little easy, but there's some awesome boss battle (like in all MMZ) especially that Craft bastard which is one of my favorite boss. The scenario seems a little off topic, it doesn't really respond to the mystery leaved by the previous games, but who cares about scenario in Megaman anyway? It also features the awesome parts of Z3.

All in all, I'd say that 2>=4>=3>=1 but they're really about the same quality. They're all insanely good. My GBmicro will never die thanks to Inticreates.

I pretty much agree with everything said above, except about Zero1 since I havent played that one.

I am bumping this to provide information that might otherwise be missed as it is in a boring Japanese magazine news thread! :D

Rockman ZX Advent (DS)

- Will be released in 2007
- The main characters are Grey and Ashe
- The initial Rockman model is Model A
- Grey's story is linked to Pandora, while Ashe's story is linked to Prometeus
- Grey is a youth who is awaken from cryogenic sleep, and told that he is a "failed experiment", while Ashe is a ruin hunter that seeks out lost technology. (two different storylines confirmed!)
- Now even outside of the Biometal suits, you can attack with weapons. :o

Model A... I can't bring to mind any Reploid that mattered and had that letter...

And 'Ashe' looks so bloody familiar for some reason...

It seems I was a little mistaken about Ashe, she's not a ruin hunter...

Grey

- Male lead, 14 years old.
- He is awoken from cryogenic sleep by Pandora, and told his name is "Grey" and that he was a failed experiment, a defective Rockman.
- He fights his way out of the base, taking with him a gun from a fallen Hunter.
- "I'm not a failed creation! I'm... I'm a Rockman!"

Ashe

- Female lead, 15 years old.
- She is a hunter working for "Legions", the federation government that oversees and controls all of the world's affairs. She is on a mission to recover a the stolen Model A Livemetal from an illegal Hunter who has stolen it.
- She runs into Prometeus on the mission, his target is the same as hers - Model A.
- "How can you decide that?! This is my life. My story!"
