Rockman (Megaman) ZX sequel confirmed

Awesome. I hope these new guys may become playable in their own right (and come with their own skills), as opposed to Ashe/Grey just going "YOINK!" with the live metals. It would just add so much more to the already extensive package we seem to be getting.

Also, I love the new Falseroid. An Icy Crocodile...I haven't liked an Irregular boss design since Wheel Alligates/Wheel Gator in X2! :D

Pseudoroid> Falseroid

Personal opinion. Just like how mine dictates how I prefer to stick with the Japanese terms, due to my personal preference. Plus, I just like the sound of "Live Metal" over "Biometal".

Hey, at least we can agree that 'Rebirth Of Crystallized Knowledge' is a far better acronym than 'Meta-Encapsulated Granule Awareness', right?

Heh, well, I assumed that much was just common sense at this point. :D

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

Awesome. Let's see...

Atlas
Helios
*checks wikipedia for Greek titans*
Tethys, definitely.
and...? Looks like the last character may be more of a Japanese name.

According to Iriasu(Foxy) of RockmanPM, that last guy who looks a bit too much like Strider Hiryu for his own good (but probably will still be awesome) is named "Siarnaq".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siarnaq

Doesn't seem to have any mythological link, but it IS the name of a Saturn moon.

Got the game thursday, and have put a little bit of time into it.

So far, good game, but a bit easier than ZX. I beat the first couple of bosses with ease! That's a shock since in all the other Zero games, I always got my ass handed to me...I picked "beginner mode," so hopefully that's also for difficulty and not just tips on how to play. I'm using the female character since I prefer her design more than the male (who also happens to look almost exactly like the FEMALE character from ZX-- bleh), but since they have different stories, I'll likely replay the game on normal or hard (if that's unlockable) with him.

This time around, your armor is modeled after Axel from Mega Man X7 and X8. So no sword this time...just blasting. The difference is that you get different types of shots (charge, homing, and a hail of bullets on both sides that will decimate enemies) to make up for it, plus you can now copy and become the bosses you defeat. The manual shows the ZX armor with its moves, so I'd wager you eventually get to play as "Zero" again.

Fun game, basically like the first with the copy armor ability added. Also the plant boss guy (Rospark?) has a GIGANTIC PENIS.

Wait, ZXA easy difficulty is easier than ZX normal, or ZXA easy is easier than ZX easy? Good impressions otherwise, just wasn't clear on this point.

Well, the Zero games are on "hard" mode by default. Beginners mode... tsk tsk
One should really crank up the difficulty when hearing it is easier than ZX.

Never doubted it would be good. All Inti Creates MegaMan games have been great.

ZXA sets the series back by quite a bit.

I hate how contextual most of the forms are. A form you can only use underwater? Lame. Not to mention its super ****ing huge. A form thats only really ever useful when there are little poles around? Lame. Especially because it's totally ****ing useless without them.

Total disappointment.

I'd like to add ZXA beginner mode is definitely for babies. It's wayyyyyyy too ****ing easy.

seriously Megaman Zero series boss battles owned. Craft anyone?
first off F*Ck craft and F*ck his knife gun.

Second off the MegamanZ games were the best in the series (2/3 in particular) and then comes the megamanX games, and i have yet to play zx but i have herd that it doesnt live up to the name :o

Id rather play as Zero in a megaman game anyway :(

It's way too easy, like sp0rsk said. I chose it since there was no option for normal...just beginner and expert.

There's a harder difficulty that gets unlocked after you beat the game on expert.

The best Mega Man games are 1-3. The originals. It all went downhill from there. My issue with most of the later MM games is that none of the levels are particularly compelling, this game included.

Yeah, a bit, but I generally skip through all the story anyway.

To be honest its hard to play the regular megaman games after playing Z for a few simple reasons.

The speed/action/style of the Z games are what i love about megaman. Dashing around while slashing/upgrading weapons/elves/abilities and playing through the story of a character who i care about is better than just jump/shooting/platforming which Z has as well and i dont think you can compare the boss fights.

Oh and finishing a boss of with that last slash as he splits apart slowly and explodes > most things.

Amen.

I also just got it, and the story isn't so hot.. I have only played about 30 mins worth of game.. Not a huge "new" rockman fan, but I am really digging this game

Completely agree. I liked the earlier Megaman games, but I wasn't a big fan of the series until I played Zero 2. I'm sure I'll try it anyway, but these impressions for ZXA aren't making me very excited.

How's the map system.

I went back, now that I have a DS again, and started replaying ZX and that map system is brutal (love everything else about the game).

Still makes no sense, but there are warps and stuff so getting around isn't annoying.

It's actually rather interesting now, when you know what you're doing.

Unlike last time, they actually do more to tell you where you're supposed to go this time. I presume it would be relatively easier for some one who understands the language though.

What I think is also interesting is that you can set teleport "way points". By paying 100 EC at these lil hub things between the levels, you can basically make it so that you can teleport to there from any Trans Server, and then go about your business as normal until you get to another one, and repeat the process. Definitely like this year's version over last year's.

As for the challenge? Yeah, I'll admit that it's a bit easier this time around as far as Boss Battles go, but then again, getting all the Medals (which replaces last year's "Level X Finish!") is a challenge in itself. People are still trying to figure out all the means necessary to get 'em all across various MM boards and such.

Any way, the only thing I don't like is that is that, like listed above, a number of the forms are really context sensitive. Chronoforce (Whale dude) really is only useful if you can get his Time Stop off for a way to by-pass what could be a more annoying section, otherwise, he's pretty limited in every other respect. Same goes for Rospark (Plant dude); straight up shot is pretty useful, but then again, that's Model F-Atlas's bread-n-butter, and she gets much more maneuverability to boot.

On the other hand, I do appreciate how the WE bar now has its own auto-regen feature, as well as the Shi-Ten-ou Models being improved overall. There's no more of that Overdrive Invoke System (OIS) nonsense, but in its place, you feel you get more mileage out of the forms because you don't have to feel like you're SOL as soon as your meter is out. Not having to pay for them to get "repaired" is also a nice thing.

So, overall, I really like this game. Certainly more than its prequel. And wait til you beat the game on Normal...there's a rather nice surprise that's certainly going to put a smile on many an OG Rockman fan's face... :D

I think I really may have to start over. Beginner is a joke, but then it also gives me an incentive to go through it with the other character on expert afterwards...

What exactly is it? It's listed on Gamefaqs' cheat section already, but is it a mini game or something for the main game?

The story? You finally get to meet that "man" :D And well yeah gameplay wise, game is sorta eeehhh. Boss battles are pathetically easy unless you go for condition bonusres. On the other hand, the presentation is outstanding. More parallax, musical direction thats matches the X series but good, UI fixes like the map, better ROCK system (2.12!)

Oh well, anything to boost sales I guess.
I'm going to be starting my game on "Expert" mode though, since I unlocked the OX armor in ZX.
Some of the forms in ZX were pretty contextual too, especially the LX form that was only useful underwater. Maybe it's because they ran out of ideas.

Hitting Lurrere's giant fish Pseudoroid and slicing in half something bigger than your house > most things.

Fixed.

Well...

It basically is an 8bit Rockman, just using the ZX Advent characters and scenarios instead. Everything, from being able to slide, the sound FX and etc. are all pretty much what you expect to be...Master Albert pulls a Wily, and even summons a Wily-esque Saucer for one of the battles! :lol

Too bad it's like only, one level. But it's SUCH an awesome nostalgic trip, and probably the best way to acknowledge Rockman's anniversary at this point.

That is one of the coolest mini-games I've seen yet.
