Rocksteady: "People are going to lose their minds [when we start talking again]"

Batman Beyond would be so perfect. It allows for massive changes to Gotham (including adding “historical secrets”, i.e. events that happened between Knight and Beyond), tons of new gadgets, new villains... I wouldn’t even be upset if the main story was a retelling of Return of the Joker.

If they make another open world game I hope their city feels like an actual city what you can interact with, instead of the playground/racetrack fake cities of their batman games.

You will lose your mind with these loot boxes we prepared for you !!!
I get that WB is the publisher behind Rocksteady, but people realize that none of their single player games have had loot boxes right? I don't even know how you would fit that into a DC IP. Unless their game ends up being a Destiny-like Justice League game, I can't see WB putting that into the game. Especially after the backlash Shadow of War has gotten. Only thing I see them doing is another season pass.

Oh shit, a Justice League unlimited battlegrounds game.

100 superheros on a field

shiiiiiiiiiiiiii....

99 Inmates, one player is Batman.

I am a big Batman guy but I had my portion of Batman by now, especially with that same combat mechanics.

Give me a team game, Young Justice, Justice League, Birds of Prey etc.

Hm, Game of Thrones/ASoIaF seems like their largest property outside of superheroes, and I suppose it fulfills the "lose-their-minds" factor for game fans. The issue being that the setting is comparatively restrictive for the usual open-world fare. Points of plot interest/variety are pretty far from each other. I guess an AC-like in and around King's Landing/Oldtown? It would probably be a different kind of game than their Batman stuff, though the Harry Potter suggestions would fit better.

I'd do terrible terrible things for an open world Superboy game set in Hawaii made by Rocksteady.

Plus with early period Superboy you wouldn't need to stretch to gave his abilities be fairly limited.

Tactile Telekinesis baby.

With so little information to talk about my guess that it will have loot boxes is as good as any guess about the game.

At least I'm talking about the game instead of completely ignoring the topic of the thread and complaining about what other people are posting

I'm the OP and have posted more about the game in this thread than anyone was. I'm complaining about drive by posts. Not people discussing loot boxes actually being in the game.

Back on the actual topic, I don't want Superman but I'd take him over a MOBA any day. I hope it's still an open world game like the Arkham series

No matter the game you can always do cosmetic loot boxes.

But take a look at the job postings Nirolak posted on the last page, it indicates that they are looking into the loot box direction.

I'd actually like to see Rocksteady surprise me and not do anything based on a license. If they created their own IP with their own game design ideas, it could end up being something special.

That gaf and gaming audiences subsist on hype.

and it was the only neogaf gif I had on hand.

That may be true, but there is a huge difference between getting hyped about a statement with no information, a statement with information and then actual footage (trailer/gameplay/etc). At least for me.

But would you actually disagree that it's not the peoples fault for hyping themselves up about a statement with no information at all?

To note, they said way back that they were planning their next game with staff from DC, and Warner Interactive’s head said the company has zero interest in new IP, so it’s presumably a comic book game.

That's fairly disappointing, but I'm still clinging onto hope that none of that matters and they're making an open world Superman game

Shadow of War is a WB game.
My bad, I meant to say that none of Rocksteady's single player games have had loot boxes. Fully aware that WB has put them in others. It's the main reason I didn't buy Shadow of War, but now hearing others say that you don't necessarily have to buy them to gain certain stuff might draw me back in.

Shadow of War is a WB game.

Hmmmm... interesting... I wonder if Rocksteady is waiting for PGW or PSX to announce their new game. They are a UK-based studio, right? Wouldn't an announcement at PGW make sense for them?

I always hoped they would work on a TMNT game, that would have been awesome. Furthermore, if it's DC related... could it be a Justice League game? a Superman game? or a Green Arrow game? :/

They are, but I don't know if PGW is a big enough event for them to announce something like that. Then again, Rocksteady has enough stake in the industry now that it might not matter. Playstation did tease a live conference there with some new game reveals.... maybe they're gonna show it then.

And I don't think a Green Arrow game would sell that well. It could be the best superhero game ever but if it isn't a property like Batman or Superman, then a lot of the General Audience won't flock to it, and we all know how WB feels about that $$$.

Rocksteady's new game is the type of thing you announce at major industry events like E3 or TGA. Honestly, they could easy just drop the announcement on a random day like Warner did for Arkham Knight and Shadow of War. Certain devs and properties don't need special occasions.

Im still disappointed we never saw that Silver Age Batman game that was rumored post-City.

Any time now Rocksteady. Feels like its been too long.

Honestly, if Rockstready did do Batman again I was really hoping it would be a super stylized Adam West Batman. It's just awful that this simply can't happen now. =[

Looking at WB's slate, they have no new releases after November. With Rocksteady's increased social media presence, I don't think there's anyway that they don't announce a game in the next month

I don't know how to post a URL from mobile, but check out these two posts. Kinda gives a glimpse on their marketing strategies and some insight on when we might see an announcement

Rocksteady has historically announced their games at the Keighleys, so I would guess that instead if you’re thinking they will unveil a game in the next few months.
