Can I survive with only half a liver?
Asking for a friend.
If you are a healthy, not too old individual, you can easily survive with half a liver. The liver is among the most resilient organs in the human body and will easily regenerate itself over time barring any complications. You will positively thrive in due time, unfortunately the same is not true of donating a kidney.

This is the upgrade we needed, but the price will make no sense, especially for the power and for how shitty Windows is.
But it is a step in the right direction.

Really don't understand the push for handheld form factor tbh. Nintendo is a special case.
Is because… Look, Nintendo is so successful with the Switch, we should do the same… Is the same for GAAS games. The issue is that they fail to replicate what made original concept a success.

The original Ally Z1E continues to be the value king lol. No other handheld PC has a 120hz OLED display with Dolby Vision, HDR, and 1,400 nits of brightness though, so that's cool. Not what will probably be $2,000+ cool, but cool nonetheless.

For me, it's pretty simple. When I'm tired after work and don't feel like using my full-sized PC, I can take my Ally Z1E and still have the ability to play a lot of my current gen only games whilst in bed or on the couch, comfortably. I can take it with me on trips with a small doc, and have a Windows 11 PC hub that I can easily break down.

I can also use it for work if I'm in a pinch. But as a gaming device/tool, having something so svelte be able to handle apps like RE9, FH6, God of War Ragnarok, Outlaws etc., while also emulating whatever I want, and it literally be in the palms of my hands is quite powerful. It feels like the future, as cheesy as that is to say.

With the recent new Steam Deck price increase, I'd imagine the price for this is going to be absolutely astronomical in comparison. prohibitively so.

Looks good, I'll never get anything like that as I'm not a 'handheld' gaming fan at all now.

Good luck to those who want one in these financial times.

Naw man. The market started with small Chinese companies making Intel based handhelds but Valve making the Steam Deck really kick started the market. They serve as a handheld option for PC gamers.

The forced bundled news has me in the 1500+ camp. Though I think it's likely next year's RDNA5 ally will come with this screen.

Nobody was paying attention to those things outside 10 people… I remember people calling the SD the Switch killer… Good times.

I've never liked the see-through console design but I really like those gold accents and I've been wanting to pick up an Ally X and this version will have an OLED screen and improved d-pad. I almost feel bad potentially spending so much money on this, but I am interested in maybe getting this over the basic Ally X.

For the likely price I wish the display was 8"+.

Also, lol at that forced bundle. Glasses alone are $500+.
Retro Game Corps has a preview. Same internals basically, better screen and forced bundle.

Meh.

Edit: Better buttons, sticks, and MicroSD Express support.

I'll be one of the minority and say "Day One!". I use my original ROG Ally X almost every day, and this is the upgrade I needed.

Bigger screen, OLED
TMR sticks

Definitely not "meh" for me, but I realize I'm an outlyer.

Much more interested in the MSI with the Intel chip. For me, the next frontier for these PC handhelds is flexing into a living room or desktop PC. Not having a slightly nicer screen.
