Yeah this sucks hardcore.

I actually had a major problem with people clapping or cheering or doing anything during this movie. Usually with these summer blockbuster films, clapping and cheering at awesome parts I have no problem with, but this time I just wanted to be completely immersed in the experience and I wanted to have no distractions.

If someone actually looked at me during this movie they would have thought I was probably bored out of my mind or sleeping with my eyes open... cause literally I did not move at all. I just sat there in awe at pretty much everything.
YEA SAME, that's EXACTLY what I did during this movie. I just got lost in it, was watching really intensely and I said nothing during it. I didn't even LOL at the lol moments, I smiled at the most. I wanted my experience to be perfect, but it wasn't, maybe that's what I'm feeling now (not disappointment at the movie itself).

I waited one hour in line for the regular viewing as opposed to the 3 hour line for the Imax but i'm saving that one for later since IMAX showings have been sold out till monday.

I manged to keep my hype and excitement level down before watching cause I didn't want it to be dissapointing and gotta say I came out in shock of how amazing it was.

EVERY single thing Heath did as the Joker was crazy and insane, just the way it should've been.
And the scene where Two-face screams when he's in the bed talking to gorden gave me chills.

FUCKING AMAZING! Really saddens me that Heath is dead as they could've brought back the joker for more in the future movies as a cameo or something.

I totally forgot about the Two-Face parts. The anger that I felt from him was absolutely awesome. I was sold on Two-Face in this movie.

when people ask me how the movie was i find it's easiest to tell them that it's like a rollercoaster going up an incline, and after 2 hours you fall down to earth for 30 minutes

then you go home and can't stop thinking about it

Anyone else having trouble sleeping or getting your mind off this movie? I feel like I need to either see this movie again right now, or somehow take a lot of drugs and hallucinate to a point where the Dark Knight becomes a reality in my mind.

The Joker as scary as he is, is someone who I almost wish was real. I can't explain it, but I feel like the city of Gotham would just be so exciting to experience. Of course it would be scary as hell and many people would probably die, but the level of excitement and intrigue would almost be certainly worth it.

Never understood the US thing of people cheering and clapping during a film. That would fucking piss me off.

er, so did i. whats the problem? was it so heartwarming for you? the
i love you too much slap w/ embrace
always gets a laugh out of me

im big on movie etiquette, too, mind you. i told my buddy next to me to not to laugh or look at me or say a fucking thing if there's any cheesy moment in the film. he did it a few times during the incredible hulk and it was pretty annoying. if he did it during TDK i would have throttled him right there. so i warned him. then, during the scene where
dent and batman fall, while gordon saves his son, and the coin lands on heads
he giggles because of the cheesy coin shot and then looks at me for a good five seconds. i ignored him since it was such a crucial moment, but now thinking about it i wish i could slap him

. I was like WTF, that's not LOL funny you fucktards.

People laughed in my theater too, and I think it's normal when it comes to that.
There's a sense of relief that someone as purely good as Gordon is alive, and his wife slapping the shit out of him for faking his death and crying tears of joy hit home for some
, and they chuckled in a feel-good manner at the poignancy and sense of realism. I don't at all think it was some mocking HAR HAR type of laugh. At least it didn't seem that way in my audience.

No way. It's great. Incredibly fun to be part of reactions like that. If that would actually "fucking piss" you off, lighten up. :P

If you don't like that, just see the movie during the day. Very unlikely it'll happen then.

If you go to a midnight premiere, you really can't complain about clapping and cheering. That's half the fun. Most people go to them for that reason.

fuck...i'm phased out a bit after watching one of the best movies ever made and one of the best parts ever played (joker)...I need a couple of hours before I type my thoughts.

The only time I recall having people clap in a cinema in England is when everybody started clapping at the end of The Return of the King.

Nope, I can understand clapping after the film - but it's fucking annoying when you're trying to hear the bits of dialogue that follow. It also requires you to have the same sense of humour as a lot of the retards that go to the cinema to clap and cheer and things they think are hilarious. Laughing is okay, its natural we all have a good laugh at funny bits. But after that shut the fuck up so the rest of the cinema can enjoy the movie without you wooping over it.

Clapping also happened when I watched Indpendence Day, specifically the part where White House was blown up.

Ah good times my English islander friends, good good times.

SO FUCKING AWESOME! Man, I haven't seen a movie in a long time that manages to keep the suspense and thrill going all the way to the end especially for something with such a long running time. Not a second is dragged on and every moment counts. Fucking awesome pacing and this Batman movie will never be outdone ever I fear. Not that it should matter.

People went nuts at my local cinema (in England) during the Golden Compass, when Iorek knocks the other bear's jaw off - "Is that all!? Is that all!?" *THWAP* "YAY!"

Firstly, don't read if u havent seen the movie cuz there are spoilers in this post but u should know that.

The Dark Knight was good.. but not perfect imo. Everyone thinks that this is the perfect movie, but honestly can u say that when Rachel died u felt anything. I think that was a pretty pivotal moment in the movie and i felt nothing, cause the character was'nt handled right. It felt like there was so much going on all the time that the audience never had a moment to reflect on the any of the motives of the characters and whats goin on. They really needed to slow down the movie jus a bit to try to get the audience more emotionally involved. I thought that would happen in the end but it never did. Same fast pace all the time. Like i know jokers fuckin insane and stuff and heaths performance was very good for the joker that he wanted to portray but i was never given the chance to take in his craziness, jus like i was never given a chance to understand batmans struggle about being the hero that gotham needed. Pretty much i felt like the movie was entertaining throughout and had some wicked ass scenes but it was missing one moment that would have tied it all together. In begins i felt like that moment happened with the line "its what you do that counts" that tied the whole movie together but i didnt feel like TDK had that moment. Another thing was that this is a Batman movie but they really put batman on the backburner which i wish they wouldnt have.

For the people that think its the greatest movie ill have to say that its good, but don't let the hype blind u from the fact that much better movies have been made. The best movies are the movies that know when to have the action but also have that emotional content that i dont think TDK had. For an example look at a movie like terminator 2, pure action throughout with scenes that made u really care about the protagonists.

One more thing i'd like to say though is that Two face was fuckin awesome, i think i got more chills when two face showed his crazy side then anytime joker was on screen.

Just came back from a Gold Class viewing.

10/10.

Walking out there was a roundtable of people talking about the movie. First time ive ever seen this :lol Only heard positives.... I almost wanted to join in :D

Gonna see it again Tuesday at IMAX if tickets are available.

Film was okay.

It was too long and too serious. Horribly edited. Batman/Bruce Wayne fell to the wayside in his own movie. Definitely overhyped.

new episode of filmspotting with their tdk review is up. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN

July 18: Biff! Bam! Pow! It's here. It's finally here. The podcast you've been waiting months to hear has arrived... Adam and Matty, wait for it, count down their Top 5 Performances of the Year (So Far) with some help from Steve Prokopy (aka Capone) of Ain't It Cool News. Oh, and the boys squeeze in a couple minutes discussing director Christopher Nolan's latest epic Batman saga, "The Dark Knight," starring Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, and the late Heath Ledger. Will a movie that couldn't possibly live up to its advanced billing do just that? Or will it leave Filmspotting's own Dynamic Duo asking, "Why so serious?"

Tune in next week for a special Spoiler Edition review of "The Dark Knight" with special guest Michael Phillips from the Chicago Tribune.

saw the movie last night

ledger's joker was awesome, definitely the best part of the film, he had so many great moments in the movie its hard to pick a favorite

Thanks to all gaffers who have kept this thread spoiler free.

I won't be able to see this movie till the 24th, as it releases late in my country. But the reactions here have so far been more than overwhelmingly positive.

TOP FIVE JOKER MOMENTS:

1. The "Magic" Pencil Trick
2. The "Hiiii" he gives Two-Face in the Hospital. It was totally a "well this is a little awkward" look!
3. His various retellings of how he got his scar
4. His nurse "jaunt", the odd way he saunters out of the hospital and then wonders why the explosions didn't go off as planned momentarily
4. His maniacal laughter as he gets beat down by Batman in the interrogation room. "Don't you see? There's nothing you can possibly do to me..."
5. HIT ME. HIT ME. HIT MEEEE!

it's safe to say that if you don't enjoy this movie you are, objectively speaking, satan. i'm not trying to be metaphoric, either--if you walk out of this movie and are complaining, i'm checking your head for horns and getting my holy water ready, buster.

Didn't
Batman go to save Rachel and not Harvey? Why did he not tell Harvey that at any point when Harvey was complaining about him being saved and not Rachel?

Like he had time! Did you see the timer on the bomb? You think he should sit there explaining it to him?

and they had motherfucking ZEUS as the prisoner with that badass brand on his neck.

A few days ago I was wondering what the hell happened to Tiny Lister. I figured he was probably dead. I was pretty shocked to see him pop up in TDK and was very surprised at what he did in the film. He's always a real asshole in every film I've seen him in and he scared the shit out of me as a kid when he was Zeus.

Saw it last night, awesome. That movie didn't disappoint from start to finished.

As for a bonus we were walking near a group of thug kids after the movie and were talking about how long the movie was and they still think "Blood in, Blood out" was a better/longer movie.

I don't know if you're joking or not, but that entire site is fake.

Yeah when I went in to go see TDK yesterday, people were walking out and these 2 kids walked out and was like, "that was good, not amazing". I wanted to punch them in the faces

Seriously, you gotta be a pretty huge dick to not like that film. Nolan threw everything at the screen. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT????

I wonder if they knew The Dark Knight Defender was in the audience, vigilantly making sure everybody thought everything was flawless.
