What the hell? The only times Imax is showing this is 9 am or 1:40 am. I might go 9 am on friday, but I can only pray it is empty because everyone is at work. No way I would go on the weekend.

I guess i'm going early then on the 18th.
King of Prussia in PA?

I'm going to the 9 show as well, and again that night with the rest of my friends. They all hate me...but I'll be damned if I lose my reputation for seeing every big movie on opening night.

At least if you go to the 9 am you'll get the matinee price, right?
If 17.25 is the matinee price, then yes :lol

15.25 + 2 dollar convenience charge...because APPARENTLY...automatically reserving a ticket for an IMAX movie carries an additional dollar worth of overhead than standard movies.

Must be for the extra ink on the ticket or something...

Just bought me and some friends tickets to see the movie at the nicest theatre around. I am so incredibly excited. I'm pacing around my apartment now...theres no way I'm going to last another week.

Thanks, but there are still a lot of spoilers in there :(

What kind of review is that laden with spoilers!

Considering all the reviews that call it something like the darkest, most violent movie ever to get a PG-13 rating, along with all the merchandising aimed at kids, I expect quite a bit of controversy when this comes out. Should be amusing.

the terminator movies were rated r and they still had kids toys.

Last time I remember such a controversy would be the original Jurassic Park. I had to beg my parents for the longest time to take me to see it, and they finally relented. :D

From what I heard the movie isn't violent in the way of blood splatters and the like (take the bank heist scene for example, no blood or anything), it's more psychological.

Possibly. I noticed they had a 3 something pm showing as well. I will wait a bit before ordering.

I also realized I am getting a free ticket to the regular release in my bluray copy of Begins. I might see it again with friends in later on.

why is that even though this movie has like 10 different TV spots, every time i turn the tv on i see a commercial for the mummy 3?

it annoys me because that movie looks terrible.

anyway i have imax tickets for sat night (nyc) but some of my friends were trying to convince me to go to a reg theater on fri night (if possible) to see the "lesser" version first and then notice how glorious it is in imax.

but i kinda just want to go into imax as a dark knight virgin and let it rape my senses.

Yeah, only that scene was shot with an IMAX Camera supposedly. I don't know if my IMAX in Milwaukee is showing it (IMAX Dome Theater, inside the Milwaukee Public Museum) but I hear movies there give you a bad headache.

No, 5 other scenes were shot with it.

I'll be damned...never thought I'd see the day that I saw another person that lived in my town on here. The wife and I are going to see it on Friday night at the Galleria. I got our tix last week.

I live in Perry, just 20 minutes away. If I don't get a group together for the Imax showing in Buford, I'll also be at the Galleria next Friday. :lol

I just checked for myself - its not, still only playing all the museum stuff. :(

Probably a dumb question, but ive always wondered what is the resolution of movies shown in the theater these days?

Unless it's shown on digital projection, projected film technically doesn't use resolution in the strictest sense, since film doesn't use pixels hence why you hear studios can remaster a high resolution digital copy off the original film master decades after release, and that's why we can get all those older movies long before 1080p tvs were even thought of in a high resolution transfer for Blu-ray (ie Blade Runner, 2001: Space Odyssey, etc.)

Yepp, normally you wind up geting a 2K master or 4K master off of the film when they go to convert it for home use.

Now, Digital Projection is 2K and looks sharper than normal projectors (assuming the film was shot digitally) because of the way film works.. film just looks different. You will never get that "looking through a window" look you can get with digital cameras.

Ive always heard that normal projectors in theaters are somewhere around 1400p or something, but I dont know how made up that is.

The other issue is film (and digital projectors) have more bit-depth than BRD.

I was going to go to KOP but it was all sold out. I decided the Franklin Institute in Philly. I'm actually going to be in KOP all day tomorrow.
