its just a poster? and that seems like a photoshopped one at that, the other ones ive seen are not the same.

is that your estimate for friday-sunday? i would guess a little lower

yes, sorry, forgot to add that 70 is my full weekend estimate.
I'm actually being generous, but I suspect Ledger's last performance will play a minor yet effective role

Yeah, I see what you mean. But I dunno, there's just something about this poster, like there's some kind of subliminal cross-promotion going on in it...

70 weekend, 180 full domestic? in that case, you are wayyyyyyy way off i believe. weekend gross will be well over 100mil.

:lol there is no way this movie makes less then 100mil opening weekend.

opening at 70 millions, closing at 180
:lol :lol :lol

At a bare minimum, there's not a chance in hell it won't outgross Batman Begins. And while I'd have bet lower a month or so back, $90 million is the absolute lowest I could see it opening at this point.

Im going to say this movie has an absolutely huge opening weekend. Possibly even breaking Spider-man 3's numbers (if that movie existed because it most certainly does not)
My estimate : 140-155 million for the weekend. Record breaking numbers for midnight showings and 1st day intake

Opening day will be around 50 million (remember the one day record is 59 million) and dark knight is a long film. More than likely it will do around 110-120 million in 3 days.

It still sucks I can't goto the Indianapolis showing Tuesday because I have to close my work and there is no way out of it =(

but they are adding showings in some cities that go until dawn or later. maybe all night and morning?

I just cracked and bought a 12:20 P.M. IMAX ticket for Friday for myself and a guy friend. Yeah, I know what I said earlier. I'm a crazy two-faced bitch.

Dude, you should try swinging by early and getting them to change it out so Mr. Spinnington can go.

Oh, and Somnia and Hamburglar and any other Indy Gaffers, you should check out Spinnington's request for an Indy Gaf meetup. I think it'd be fun. We can go to Batman and then Yats! :D Or something else, whatever.

If you can point out where I'm hating I'd love to see it.

Everyone on this board is so sure this movie is gods gift to man and no one has seen it yet.
Subliminal hating. You're implying it isn't gods gift to man without having even seen it, you're just the other side of the same coin. Blind haters are much worse than blind fans.

Hamburglar's not a hater, he's just a Debbie Downer. Maybe it's his way of making sure that he doesn't get hyped up about it so he can enjoy the movie more.

It's all good with DJ Pussy Allergies, in my book. But he's Hoosier livin', so we gotta stick together.

So anyway, seriously. How does IMAX work in terms of aspect ratio? Do they still show it in 2.35 with bars?

Nah, it takes up pretty much the whole screen. But the thing about IMAX is that pretty much wherever you sit, if you look straight ahead, the screen is taking up your ENTIRE field of view.

Trust me people, you're going to want to go to the IMAX one. It's a goddamn awesome experience. I enjoyed Batman Begins in IMAX after seeing it two or three times in a normal theater. It was so awesome. The sound aspect is really enjoyable for me, because the screen itself has speakers behind it and the sound comes THROUGH the screen (the holes in the screen for the noise are small enough on such a big screen so as to be undetectable). It makes you feel the movie unlike any other way of viewing.

I think the screen is supposed to expand when it goes into "fuck awesome" mode and then retract when it goes into "awesome, but not quite fuck awesome".

Wat, really?
I thought I read something liek that in a review. Hjere's actual fact checking for everyone's benfit:

The first of the six scenes shot in IMAX, a prologue that introduces Batman's arch-nemesis The Joker, was shot in April, several weeks in advance of the actual start of principal photography. Additional selected scenes were filmed with IMAX cameras during the course of production on The Dark Knight.

The two formats will be seamlessly integrated and morph between full IMAX and IMAX DMR. In other words, scenes shot in 35mm will appear in IMAX DMR (letterbox), while scenes shot with IMAX’s cameras on 15/70mm film will expand vertically to fill the entire IMAX screen, which in Austin is six stories tall, for an all-encompassing IMAX Experience.

I'm not from Indy...about 2 hours away. I'd goto an Indy meetup though :D

I live in NYC, so I probably won't get a chance until Bart Simpson finally becomes Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

That probably will happen on next Sunday's ep.

So withholding judgment until I've actually experienced it is now considered hating? ":lol

Pretty much. You're implying it isn't gods gift to man without having even seen it, when there is no reason you should think it isn't.

Someone just start a thread about the LEGO Batman game in the gaming forum. We're supposed to get some details from E3 about it anyway.

Not sure what time At the Movies w/ Ebert & Roeper comes on for everyone, but their TDK review is part of today's episode. It's on right now for me.

I just got out of an early IMAX screening of the movie. I'll keep this spoiler free. If anyone wants to be spoiled, I can do that in another post.

That is one intense movie. I'm not sure if it's just because of the imax, but i felt almost shell shocked walking out of the theater. The acting once again was awesome, Heath was especially great as the Joker. I really liked the Rachel character this time around as well.

The one big complaint I hear about Begins is that you don't see Batman kicked enough as, his fights are too edited. I think that it's a lot better in Dark Knight, but people will still probably bitch because most of his fighting takes place in the dark.

I did like the ending to Begins better, but I guess it's pretty hard to top the Joker card reveal.

A+++++ Would See Again!
