I'm about to go to the IMAX showing with a stranger. Much older than I expected but a cool guy.

Question for anyone whos been to an advance screening. The stipulation for attending tonight's screening is that you can't bring any electronic devices. How strict are when it comes to the rules? Do they pat you down or do they ask you to empty your pockets before entering the theatre. I'm wondering if i should try to get my phone in (which can't take pictures), since i'm gonna be in sorta an awkward position without it.

I dunno if that is correct. 53 though but the man has the ticket and emailed me for proof. But he has a blog and is a regular member on SHH. Harrison Ford is older than that....wouldn't it be weird to see a movie with that old man? Huh? HUH? Anyway it is going to be fun. People I guess are already in the lines and posting on their phones.

So any rotten reviews have a grudge against Nolan for filming in Chicago? Oh, GAF :lol
That might be stupid, but it's still strange that all the hate is coming from New York.

Lets just say every negative the film gets total comes from New York, you still won't make anything out of it?

No, I wont, because its ludicrus. Yes, Im sure a bunch of grown men and women who consider themselves professionals are going to tear down a movie because it didnt get shot in their city.

GET OUT YER TINFOIL HATS

Uh I didn't say thats the reason they're having a negative reception to the film. If anything I think they're a bit peeved at the post 9/11 message the film might portray and it probably makes comparisons between Gotham City and New York.

Listen, I don't know....it's just odd.

Agreed.

Also, I've always associated Gotham with Chicago for some strange reason.

Could you post some pics? I've searched all around town and no one got the special edition. Hell, most stores only got 1-2 copies of the regular edition...

anyway this all to side now, the movie has been released in Australia ...but I decided to put my IMAX session right at the edge of the day...

Yep, I've been debating about whether to go all morning. But no - I will remain true to my friends and see it tonight in Gold Class.

..but there is a cinema 5 minutes away...the next session is in 15 minutes...

Biggest fuck up ever. I realized an hour into my drive to New York that my ticket was for PITTSBURGH IMAX.

How the fuck did I get this ticket? I did not click the wrong fucking link. GODDAMN IT.

Thats the main reason I went gold class - just to avoid all the dickheads. I have no doubt I'll be seeing it again this weekend anyway....possibly tomorrow. :lol

I can just see this scenario from your eyes.

Blasting some Batman soundtrack action and bouncing around all excitedly as I drive. Super high energy.

Then you look at the tickets a little closer.

pittsburgh THE DARK KNIGHT
PITTSBURGH THE DARK KNIGHT
PITTSBURGH

Then the drive of shame home.

Good thing you were able to find some tickets for Thursday, in the Philadelphia area IMAX theatres, everything is sold out for the first few days.

I'm going to the Melbourne IMAX tonight at 6:45pm - same day I booked my tickets, my manager gets me some Gold Class tickets for some time I spent filling in for another team member. So, presuming the movie rocks the promised socks, I'd say I know what I'm using my free tickets on!

Beverley Hills Chiauaha?

Just saw it. I cannot hype this film enough. IT IS FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE.

Easily one of the best movies i've ever seen in terms of pure enjoyment in the theater. I was anxious, terrified, and on the edge of my seat the entire time. Believe the hype, GAF, this film delivers on all levels.

none.

Courtesy of Peter Sciretta over at SlashFilm.com, I caught an early screening of “The Dark Knight” yesterday evening.

Without giving anything away, this is an epic film (and trust me: based on the sheer size and scope of the visuals and storytelling, that’s not an overstatement). It’s the “Godfather II” of comic book films and three times more earnest than “Batman Begins” (and fuck, was that an earnest film). Easily the most adult comic book film ever made. Heath Ledger didn’t so much give a performance as he disappeared completely into the role; I know I’m not the first to suggest this, but he’ll likely get at least an Oscar nod (if not the win) for Best Supporting Actor. Fucking flick’s nearly three hours long and only leaves you wanting more (in a great way). I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed by it. Nolan and crew have created something close to a masterpiece.

This is literally what happened:

I'm all driving and my girlfriend asked if I can stop and get some Wendy's, since she hadn't eaten lunch or dinner. So I'm pulling in to the drive through and I go to get my cash out of my wallet and the folded up ticket i printed out falls out of my wallet. She picks it up and looks at it while I'm ordering and she goes

GF: "Hey Chris?"
Me: "What drink did you want?"
GF: "Chris hey this paper says Tarentum Pittsburgh."
Me: *to speaker* "Hold on a second"
*grabs paper*
Me: "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK."

At this point my GF jumps back a little and I get her food, and we drive back home pretty much quietly for twenty minutes before she gets a laugh and I can't help but laugh at myself.

Boy I was so angry

I just got home; I didn't get any free stuff (Natick, MA screening). But I don't care, because what I just saw was UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE. My expectations were surpassed on EVERY SINGLE LEVEL. Just brilliant. One of the most epic and most thrilling movies I've EVER seen, if not THE most. I was on the edge of my seat, as they say, for pretty much the entire film. The Dark Knight is a fucking BEAST and it does not let up, even for one second.

I don't think it can be possibly be stated enough that The Dark Knight is not even CLOSE to being a "comic book" movie, and it is WORLDS further from that categorization than even Batman Begins. Calling this masterpiece a comic book movie would be an utter insult to a film this intricate, dark, and mature. It also can't be said enough how incredible Heath Ledger's performance is; I always thought he was a great actor, but in TDK he proves that he could've been a master. It's really a shame what happened to him, but the triumph that is The Dark Knight is one of the greatest tributes to him that there could ever be.

For you guys who've managed to hold out this long -- don't give in! Stop reading reviews. If someone at work says they heard something about the film, tell them to shut up. Quit this thread now, even! I made it a point to go in completely blind (I only casually read TDK threads, didn't read speculation, etc.) and I could NOT be happier. My mind was utterly fucking blown several times. It's not too late to save yourself!

I really want to gush right now about all of the fucking incredible stuff I just saw, but I think I'll hold off for a bit. I'd feel bad if anyone accidentally highlighted it. :(

ugh I loved Batman as a kid, but I'm so hyped right now I can only be dissapointed....after all it is GAF hyping something =(

you burned me with Wall-E, and various other shit on the gaming side....I hope this is amazing.

At least everyone was cool about it. I don't know if I would have handled it as gracefully as you did.

I imagine my wife would be less than happy with me :lol

Just got back from a screening in West Palm Beach.

Easily one of the most satisfying films I have ever seen. It delivers on every level. ***** out of *****.

In regards to security, they made my wife open up her purse in order to make sure she didn't have a camera. They also were extremely vigilant about making sure that people were not playing with cell phones. They warned they would you out if your phone made any noise during the film.
