He said they can force me and then the theater can call the cops to escort me out of the theater if I don't do what they say. Yeah this sounded freakin insane to me.

That's a lie/BS.

When the certain showtime is completely soldout (like the one yesterday), an automated request is played back, requesting people to go to the center of the room. You shouldn't be worrying about "couples" if you're getting center seats. There are no cops. That's like asking someone on the bus to get the hell out cause there's a "couple" that needs two seats and you're sitting in one of them.

You have the right to sit wherever you want when it comes to first come, first serve. Don't be afraid and be a man. I took over 10 seats yesterday for my friends and people were giving me bitchy attitude but hey, that's the way things are.

There is a thing called "Sorry but i was here first and i like these seats" and then there's this bullshit lie called "Sorry but these seats are reserved for i work for the theater". You belong in the "i like these seats" category and there is no one in the world who can force you outta your seats.

If they give you a shitfest and you have two empty seats side by side, then be the bigger man and move one seat left or right (depending on which one you like). They can't tell you to go to the bottom row cause you are alone. Tell them you can't go and if someone from theater shows up (which is VERYYYYYYYY unlikely and stupid) then tell them to piss off and bring forward the manager.

Saw it last night, posted my opinion. It's awesome and all that.

But did any of the theatres you early screeners saw it have the Watchmen logo flash for a second? Because that's what happened in San Diego. The logo popped up, people were confused, I got excited, and it disappeared. I'm wondering if the trailer's actually on the IMAX reel, even though they don't usually show traditional trailers.

No. The group will have to split then. But to be honest. Don't be an ass about it either. Lets say you sit at the 2nd to the end. I think you get the idea here. If it is you have a nice spot in the center and they bitch that you should move out of the row or some shit. Tell em to go boil an egg:lol

Theater can't really tell you to move from your set to accommodate other guest at your cost. Atleast that is how mine was.

I saw the 9.35pm IMAX session last night in melbourne. we had a group of about 20 ppl. split across 2 rows (coz everyone in the group walked in randomly).

anyway, some guy JUMPED ACROSS several rows and sat RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of one of the groups, effectively splitting them. being the conservative asians that we were, we just let him be, no big deal. we did have to pass lollies and popcorn to and from each other though... that may have annoyed him somewhat (ah well, his fault).

also, there was a guy dressed in a joker suit and another guy with fangs (looked pretty real!).

BEST MOVIE EVER.

I think Mitchell tries a little too hard to be Pauline Kael, but it's a good show anyway. Should be interesting.
Maybe, but if he's talking to an intelligent person he rarely fails to get them to discuss their work in an insightful manner.

It's also podcasted and you can grab it from their site afterwards. No need to be in SoCal and have the radio tuned in to hear it.

So I just got back from my second screening, the first being last night. Its even better the second time around. What a great fucking movie. This one will go down in history. This is what the future Clerks will talk about and cry 'blasphemy' when somebody denounces it.

.

Wait, are you saying that you went to a movie and tried to claim 10 seats for people that weren't there yet? This theater was filling up?

I agreed with your first sentence but if I'm understanding the rest right....no.

Much like with The Prestige, everytime I watch Batman Begins, I see something new, something fresh. This is what I caught with tonight's viewing, on the eve of The Dark Knight:

There's two parts to the film. The first part is building batman, that much is obvious. But what's more subtle is the building of Bruce Wayne, which comes right after Batman is fully established. When he's off in the mountains, he's skirting responsibility for his father's work, and generally, he (bruce Wayne) is a blank slate when he returns to Gotham. In the midst of finding Batman, Wayne loses control of his company. When he's out making his suits and taking out the guys at the docks, being obsessed with the toys and perks that will come with being Batman, he forgets Rachel altogether and thus, loses her (by forgetting their bond in favor of a new one with Batman). When he's trying to save Rachel and causing mass mayhem, he loses Alfred (by forcing him to lose faith in Bruce). And when he loses focus of Wayne Enterprises altogether (by concentrating of the fun gadgets), he loses Lucious (by letting him get fired). It's not until he's confronted by Ras with the reality that his parents fought injustice in their own way that he realizes that Bruce Wayne is just as necessary as Batman. They both need their compatriots (Batman's main friend being Gordon) in order to succeed, stepping stones that are necessary for the bigger goal. He (Bruce Wayne) sets things right - he gets Lucious his job back, he lets rachel know who he truly is & where their relationship lies, he gets the company back, he saves Gotham in ways his father never could, and finally, makes alfred believe in him again (solidified by "I believe there should be improvements in the foundation" yadayadayda). It's truly striking how not only the conflict of Batman was totally resolved completely, but the conflict of Bruce Wayne, too.

A lot of people talk about how Burton's Gotham had so much personality, it practically became a character in the film. Not many say that about Begins' Gotham - and that's a problem. It's talked about so much in the film - it's romanticized, criticized, and degraded and praised. While it isn't quite a character, it still feels very real and very important for many reasons. Look at what it means to the main characters: Falcone treats it as a fighting dog, something to be controlled and have the benefits reaped from. Crane believes it is a bargaining chip, a stepping stone to more important things. Obviously, Ras sees it as a corpse, something that should buried to give the soil opportunity for fresh life (he, surprisingly, is one of it's champions. You don't put a city in the same leagues as Rome or Constantinople unless you believe it was once on of the finest that ever existed). Bruce, ultimately, wants Gotham to be free - free from tyranny, corruption, FEAR, etc. The city is fought for as much as the values that each character represents. It's not an entirely visual struggle, but a touchstone nevertheless.

The film establishes a great sense of geography. Almost every wide shot of the city features the monorail somewhere tucked away in it. Night shots primarily established where the narrows are in relation to wayne and the higher class sector. It's very well done - outside of never really noting where the hell Wayne Manor is. But, it's no big deal - pretty much like any other negative that can be placed on this film.

Just thought I'd share my latest thoughts with you guys.

Now I'm prepped
like Batman
for the Dark Knight.:D

So I just finished a 50 mile round trip drive to the IMAX theater where the dark knight was playing. To my surprise I see signs all over the theater saying they mistakenly said the movie would be tonight, when it would be tomorrow night. WTF??? I just paid 1/4 of a tank of gas for nothing. No email notification. No phone call. They forced me to drive over there to find out it wasn't playing.

This is freakin bullshit. I am also pissed because of how hyped I got about seeing it tonight, only to have to now wait until tomorrow.

Is there any way I can get the theater to give me my ticket for free tomorrow?

wow, i stand by what i said

i have a 2001 honda civic that gets 425 miles per tank. if your car only gets 200 on $60 of gas you oughta sell it tomorrow

it gets 200 on $45 of gas. It's a jeep wrangler though (1998). And funny you should mention that, because I just sold it a few days ago. He doesn't get it until the 28th though.

Can't wait to see this, hopefully this weekend. My buddies said they're gonna see it on IMAX, I hope that still the plan.

heh, the guy on the radio this morning was so psyched about it...he gave it 5.5/5 :lol
He also loved iron man and hated crystal skull. I never heard what he thought about the hulk though.

Was anyone else paying attention to the screen during IMAX scenes? I kept findin myself watching the whole screen to confirm. :lol

I found it rather easy to "figure out" if a scene was filmed in IMAX or not, because there was a little bit of blackness towards the bottom and/or the footage was sharper. But it never took me out of the movie.

O no it didn't take me out of the movie.
And the screen size was what I was talking about.
I just glanced to confirm because could generally tell the IMAX scenes. :D

Austin disappointed they're not New York, Chicago, or Gotham, news at 11.

You all must ensure that you see this movie as soon as you can and avoid all spoilers at all costs.

My penis has been ejecting semen ever since the movie ended.

Just got home from watching it.

Wow that surpassed all my expectations - very, very well written indeed!

And dark.
It is sooo dark.

I don't know how much credit Heath deserves, but the Joker was definitely the star of the show. Well done Chris Nolan - there isn't a movie you've made that's disappointed me yet.

Where did you IMAX guys sit? I only could get 4th row seats so fuck it

To the LONDON, ENGLAND guys, I have 1 spare ticket going for the 29th of July at 17.55

The Dark Knight Has Already Broken One Record - Theater Counts!
from FirstShowing.net by Alex Billington
Why So Serious?

Hollywood Reporter has announced that Warner Brothers is dropping The Dark Knight into 4,366 theaters this weekend, officially setting a new record. Previously, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End held the theater count record, playing in 4,362 theaters last May and earning $114.7 million at the box office in its opening weekend. Now The Dark Knight has even surpassed that which means it definitely has the potential to set some earnings records. Incredibly positive buzz has put this film into its final epic tail spin and all eyes will be watching this weekend as it hopefully sweeps its way through the box office, shattering records left and right. And with this announcement, I'm pretty damn sure most people are going to be absolutely shocked by the massive records that this masterpiece will set.

I don't like arguing about box office potential, but now this makes that $200 million mark all the more realistic. In addition to the 4,366 domestic theaters that The Dark Knight is playing on starting on Friday, July 18th, they also mention that double and triple screenings and midnight shows mean that the film will play on 9,200 screens! Included in this are 94 IMAX screens (the only way to truly see the film). Warner Brothers has been battling for spots in theaters around the country, but the excitement for this film has guaranteed them an incredible record-setting number of theaters. And of course we all know that it's already been selling out in advance for weeks. I think we're in for one hell of an exciting weekend. If you don't already have your tickets, you're probably out of luck. But if you do, then I'll see you in theaters! Just make sure you remember where you were when The Dark Knight shattered all the box office records!

FOUR MORE THEATERS! FORE MORE THEATERS!
Which is probably the exact amount of new theaters that have opened since POTC came out:lol one of which being right down the street from me!

Don't think it will break any boxoffice records for all-time but maybe this year. I think it misses the mass kid/woman love thats needed for a record gross past ow.

^ It so deserves to beat Spider-Man 3...

Also, I hate Maggie, she told somewhat spoilers when she was on Letterman yesterday.

damn I really should wait for imax but can't wait too hyped must watch it sooner okay I am leaving for the theater to see if I can get in on the midnight action
