As for the ending again, I don't think Doc Manhattan as the cause make sense. The squid works in an 'Independence Day' type of scenario. If Aliens were to suddenly appear and attack Earth - no matter where - the Earth WOULD probably band together. But if an American made 'weapon' goes haywire? There would be a lot of scapegoating, blame, and enemies would simply laugh. I need to see the film again - but did 'doc M' 'attack' other cities? I heard it mentioned (Like Hong Kong and so on).

there was sooo much unintentional laughter at the theater i was in :lol. one guy two seats away from me even had to tell some people behind us to knock it off. i couldnt blame them though, i was laughing through most of it as well.Flynn said:They may know something you don't.

kswiston said:That said, I think Watchmen will be majorly front loaded. If it has similar legs to spider-man 3, we're looking at around a 125M domestic total. DVD sales should be good, but this will not be the big hit that it's studios were hoping for.
no way, I want more crimefighting Ozymandias!birdman said:Just in time for Watchmen Origins: Roscharch
newsguy said:I saw it last night. What I told my buddy was if I hadn't read the GN I probably wouldn't have liked the movie as much. It really seemed to drag, and while I knew that scenes needed to be in, the general crowd was growing impatient. The guy next to me looked at his watch like 10 times in between sighs.
DevelopmentArrested said:Who gives a flying fuck. The 'general crowd' watches Dancing with the Stars over Arrested Development, reads Twilight and listens to shitty pop music. The typical movie goer is a mouthbreathing uneducated moron.

I like Arrested Development, hate Dancing with the Stars and don't listen to any pop music and yet I thought the movie was just not very good.DevelopmentArrested said:oh im sorry did i offend a group you belong to?
Ninja Scooter said:this movie had to break the record for most "that guy..." castings in one film. The only actor i knew by name was Carla Gugino, everyone else in the main cast were "that guy from that one movie" :lol In fact the group i went to this is all we discussed after the movie really. A few people were convinced the guy who played the Comedian was Javier Bardiem from No Country For Old Men...then the discussion turned to how badass No Country For Old Men Was.

I know someone noticed the 'BOYS' folder on his computer, but what kind of pr0n could a Mac from 1985 contain?birdman said:Hmm, with more included homosexual undertones? Sign me up!
BobTheFork said:I'm going to see it IMAX in about 2 hours. I'm really looking forward to it, it would take allot to make me hate this flick no matter what. I read the trade about 6 months ago and just went over it again this week. I had heard about the movie ending and I the first thing I wondered was if they had changed it to make it more believable. I never thought. Just seems like a lateral change for no reasonthe 'squid' was any farther across the line of believability than Dr. M himself
The best thing is I don't even know who Carla Gugino fucking played. I mean, I assume it was Laurie, but still.Ninja Scooter said:this movie had to break the record for most "that guy..." castings in one film. Also the guy who played Moloch was pretty famous... I think.
Well, I can't judge the pacing until I see it, but I think there may have been reasonable way to set it up. It's a question of the director and what kind of movie they want to make. It honestly won't effect how I feel about the film. The was a great ride, not just a great ending.Ninja Scooter said:it has nothing to do with believability, its because there was no way they would have time to explain the whole squid thing, so it would be completely out of place, whereas in the book even though its really fucking wierd, at least it ties together all the stuff with the island, the writers and the Black Freighter (which, by the way, have you guys seen that they are putting together a direct to DVD animated version of the Black Freighter?)
