Recently rewatched both movies. God these have both aged amazingly, such classics

Only criticisms you could give these movies without nitpicking is shitty child O'connell and CGI Rock. The latter which doesnt really bother me as I thought his reveal and fight scenes were well enough done that I just dont care if it had aged. The overall visuals look fine with all the fight scenes.

Back on topic, this movie has it all.

I havnt seen #3 and dont intend to. It just looks really bad and frankly not interested in old Fraser, no Imhotep and no Weisz. It just looks so disconnected from the franchise.


Overall - I think the first is the better package, but I love both of them. Always fun to watch and top grade adventure movies
 
I always enjoy films with powerful supernatural forces even if they aren't very good. The Mummy is one of the better ones. I am glad to give seen it.
 
First one is incredible, one of my favorite movies I think. The second one is alright, I remember it being better when I was younger.

As corny as Brendan Fraser seems to be nowadays, he was as close as we got to a new Indiana Jones too. He would have been a perfect Nathan Drake.
 
The first 2 movies were great; very entertaining and had a great time watching them

3rd movie had jet li? I dont understand him most times on screen and it was all kinda blerg. Recast rachael weisz character was also... meh.
 
I've tried to watch The Mummy multiple times but I dislike Brendan Fraser so much as an actor that I can never get more than 20 minutes in. He ruins everything.
 
Really entertaining movies. I still always see them if I catch them on tv.

There's only 2 movies.

John Hannah is the real star of both btw.
 
I really liked The Scorpion King, too. Like the others, it kind of hits that somewhat cheesy action movie gooey goodness.
 
Love them, but my general love of everything Egypt helps. I'm not confident at all the new Cruise one will be good but I'm happy to be proven wrong

Yeh The first Scorpion King is a fun movie. I still find it weird he is a hero in the scorpion king and is shown as an evil guy in returns. I know the prequel came and had to make some changes, it just feels weird.

I think the reboot monster movies are going to be all super serious, if Dracula untold is anything to go by :(
 
They are both great. The second one has way too many bad special effects. The whole jungle city at the end with the monkeys...awful. Otherwise its an awesome action flick.
 
First movie was awesome.

The final of the second one was the first time as a kid when I though there's too much CGI going on.

The first movie has a great soundtrack composed by Jerry Goldsmith. The second movie's soundtrack is Alan Silvestri slapping you across the face with the motifs while screaming "Emotional Cue!" and "Remember that scene you liked!?"
 
I liked both these movies. Solid adventure flicks. I always though being eaten by bugs was pretty terrifying, and the times when it did happen in the film were somewhat graphic.

Also the Pharoah's mistress... they got away with a lot for being a PG-13 movie.
 
Loved watching them growing up. I remember being scared shitless of the first one when I first watched it hahaha.

They were. They needed another 20mil to complete the project, but it was rejected. Hence why the finale is so piss poor in comparison to the rest of the film.

First is still amazing to go back to. Entire cast is on their A game. Everyone is charming and have their quarks. It's one of the best blends to of being horrifying yet a fun adventure romp. The start is more horror, then it slowly weens you out to the adventure. It's a shame it was lost in the 2nd. The initial sequence of them going through the tomb, getting separate, the bugs that go into your skull. Scared the shit out of me as a kid.
 
Recently rematched these two movies on Netflix as well, and I wouldn't say they've aged all that well at all. Sure, the first one is still a lot of fun, but the CGI effects look awful now. I was surprised how bad it looked, as the effect didn't appear that way in my nostalgia-filled mind. Still, it was still lots of fun to watch it again after not seeing it for years.

On the other hand, The Mummy Returns is a bit of a mess. The CGI is horrendous at points, the story is weak, and the kid is awful. It still has its moments, but its kind of a let down after the first.

The atrocious acting at returns' climax and god awful cgi DJ, I still thoroughly enjoyed it, even if the first is leaps above. Rock solid popcorn flicks, still super watchable.

The comparisons to Indy are on point. Take out some of the more over the top goofy and these are easily great Indiana Jones serials.
 
The humor in the first fun was top-notch. I loved Benni's character. And the actor that portrayed Benni nailed it.
 
The first Mummy is basically the Indiana Jones 4 we should have had. You could easily swap Brendan Fraiser for Harrison Ford and the movie works as a perfect Indiana Jones flick. The second movie is still fun but I think it tries to hard to build lore around the characters.

In short, yeah, I like these movies.
 
The first Mummy movie is one of my favourite movies - it's just a blast to watch, and I can rewatch it endlessly. And I have...it's up there with Monty Python and the Holy Grail as far as movies I've put on again and again.

The second isn't bad either. Other than some bad CG it's pretty fun too.

The third is atrocious, even ignoring that it lacks Weisz.
 
The first one is one of the best movies ever made and will NEVER get old. It's perfect.

The second one, while not as good as the original, is still a worthy sequel. Very enjoyable.

The third one is absolute garbage and better off forgotten.
