This thread is funny.
People are praising CDPR for many things including their DLC stance, but IMO The Witcher 3 free DLC is text book example of cut game content that should have been included from the start.

Hair and beard styles, weapons, skins, new game + and some shitty quests. Is this really the pinnacle of DLC? I'm sure Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are going to be great, but there is nothing new or groundbreaking about then. They are even selling a fucking season pass. Some one correct me if I'm wrong but did they start selling the season pass before announcing the expansions like Bethesda is doing with Fallout? Because frankly I really don't believe Bethesda still has absolutely no idea at what kind of DLC they are going to make for FO4.
CDPR are just smarter than most devs or publishers. By offering this "free" DLC they are ensuring that people don't trade the game in the first weeks of release and they even get good will from gamers.
Now don't get me wrong, I love and own all the Witcher games, and I really like CDPR and their post release support for their games (TW2 Enhanced edition and patch come to mind), but they are not the saints or the saviors people are painting then to be.
Are we forgetting the testimony from that Bish verified poster about work conditions at CDPR? Do you guys really believe that they put their costumers before profit? CDPR shouldn't get a free pass because their public persona is more consumer friendly than other companies. From what we heard working conditions there are as bad as any EA owned dev out there.
For all that people complain about EA, personally I like many of their games as much as I like CDPR's.
I feel bad about the devs that EA bought and closed (specially Westwood, I LOVE C&C games), but it's too easy to place the blame for their closure exclusively on EA while the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
How many times have we seen devs mismanage projects when they start to get big and work with bigger budgets? Man I still remember how hyped I was for Hellgate London...how could the guys behind Diablo release that POS? Money wasn't an issue, they had financing from a bank to avoid publisher interference. Maybe if they had publisher interference they might have avoided feature creep and actually delivered a good game.
I'm happy that we are experiencing a WRPG renaissance, but I don't begrudge Bioware because they evolved to something else entirely. I actually enjoy the games they are making now like I enjoyed their older output.
Thankfully now I can play both kinds of games. Old school bioware like RPG's and the new ones. And I think the Witcher 3 have more in common with modern bioware games than they do with the older ones.
