Welp :/
Cancel the thread if old.

Hey, if it wasn't shaping up to be a great game, I'm glad it was shelved.

Nintendo should bring back Metroid when they're confident it's going to be something special. I can wait. We know the series isn't dead, so I'm more than willing to be patient.

This was back when Nintendo were making the wrong calls. They have been on full awesome mode lately, I expect them to bring it back.

Wasn't this thread locked twice? It feels like deja vu here. I swear I've seen these exact same comments and OP before.

Edit: whoa, I'm having legit deja vu here. Lol. Wasn't there a thread before about Metroid being cancelled or shelved by Next Level Games for Luigi's Mansion 2?

Nintendo is not one to cancel games for bad reasons.

Let's hope Metroid (Prime) makes a glorious return someday anyway.

Nope.

Especially if this is related to NLG's Metroid project, which was very likely canned BEFORE Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.
It is dead for me until a new game is announced and it is nothing like Other M ^^'' Hopefully it is not Prime either. I love Prime, but I had enough of it.
Remember, if Ninty cancelled it. It was probably for the best.
They should have cancelled Other M, then.

If it is the case that LM2 was the game they made instead, I'm not sure that was the wrong call. That game sold extraordinarily well for what it was.

How the hell did Other M ever get finished and put out on disc?

Did somebody have a gun to the head of Iwata's dog?

It's unwise to assume that every canceled game represents the masterpiece one was waiting for, and is thus robbed of.

Dark Moon ended up being an excellent use of Next Level.

Can I still hope that this was cancelled and moved to the wii u?

I'm guessing Retro Studios started going full-throttle on Metroid for Wii U after Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was released in February.

That may possibly be one of the factors that led to its cancellation...since 3DS is on its way out and Nintendo might want Wii U games for 2016.

The gameplay was among the best on Wii, that's how.

I mean, it might have been in the top 10%
that's a complete lie, the gameplay was the most awful thing about the game, which is impressive given that everything about the game is pretty awful
because there was a whole lot of pure shit on the Wii. Metroid: Other M among that pure shit.

Is it really? I mean, it's been almost 4 years since launch and doesn't exactly have the strongest announced line up for next year. But I donno if they'll for sure shorten the lifespan. Especially with its big revision coming out next year in the US and EU.

I feel like it's safe to say this is not the Metroid Miyamoto was referring to at E3.

Considering he felt comfortable talking about new games then, I expect they have designs on creating a new one regardless of whether or not this game was cancelled.

The game was coming along nicely but then Sakamoto took a look at it and asked "why is she turning into a ball? That looks wierd. If she needs to fit in small spaces, just have her glow".
