This was the game from the people that made Luigi's Mansion 2 right?

That's most likely it.
I remember those concept art pictures, but there's no exact details if it's related to those yet.

Well, that explains why my 3DS has had nothing to play since ALBW and has just be an expensive dust collector.

Hey, if it wasn't shaping up to be a great game, I'm glad it was shelved.
Nintendo should bring back Metroid when they're confident it's going to be something special. I can wait. We know the series isn't dead, so I'm more than willing to be patient.

Yeah, unless this is something they worked on *after* LM2, we already knew they had been working on a Metroid project.
Because Nintendo wanted to focus on the Wii U Metroid game.

I doubt it'd be 3D based on what system it's on.
I think this is probably referencing the game from Next Level Games, the one with the cartoonish art style.

Huh, the 3DS can handle a 3D Metroid perfectly. The DS got a 3D Metroid, after all. A 3D Metroid for the 3DS would be so nice.

Especially if this is related to NLG's Metroid project, which was very likely canned BEFORE Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

I'm pretty sure this dev wouldn't be talking about it like this if they were still working on it and the game only went through a platform change.

It is dead for me until a new game is announced and it is nothing like Other M ^^'' Hopefully it is not Prime either. I love Prime, but I had enough of it.
They should have cancelled Other M, then.

If it is the case that LM2 was the game they made instead, I'm not sure that was the wrong call. That game sold extraordinarily well for what it was.

I'm guessing Retro Studios started going full-throttle on Metroid for Wii U after Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was released in February.
That may possibly be one of the factors that led to its cancellation...since 3DS is on its way out and Nintendo might want Wii U games for 2016.

I mean, it might have been in the top 10%
that's a complete lie, the gameplay was the most awful thing about the game, which is impressive given that everything about the game is pretty awful

Is it really? I mean, it's been almost 4 years since launch and doesn't exactly have the strongest announced line up for next year. But I donno if they'll for sure shorten the lifespan. Especially with its big revision coming out next year in the US and EU.

The game was coming along nicely but then Sakamoto took a look at it and asked "why is she turning into a ball? That looks wierd. If she needs to fit in small spaces, just have her glow".
