Rumor: Final Fantasy XV Launches September 30

I don't think that's necessarily true. Having a hard, absolutist date isn't great either. That means a game could ship in a poor state.

But that's what's going to happen, it'll ship, finished or not :p

They have plenty of time to squash bugs and apply polish though, so I'm not really afraid of it.

That means it can be our first real, modern AAA Final Fantasy. Full of bugs, glitches and needing day 1 patches!

Yay 😐

Why is everyone expecting delay for the game? I don't recall delays happening for the other mainline FF in the past, isn't it?

Just because ever game nowadays seems to get delayed. I don't think it will get delayed due to Uncovered. They have to be pretty damn sure it is reaching that date to have a whole event around the date

Yeah, I think whatever date they announce at the end of March will be the day it comes out. There will be no further delays.

Yeah it will come out regardless if it's ready or not.

None of the above

:(

Curious as to what the original XV was intended to be.

Well, what's FFXVI now :P This post from Verendus from early 2013 is strange, though, as he mentions Versus and "FF15 and FF16" and it seems as if that "FF15" is not the same as XVersus. "FF16" would be FFXVII now. Either he had wrong information or didn't want to give away the fact that Versus would be renamed to FFXV. But then what did he mean with "exclusive release"? Sometimes I feel he just knows of rough outlines of certain studios' plans, but not the exact titles. Maybe he thought a next-gen FFVII or FFX spin-off was a future mainline one.

There's a chance FF15, in particular, may be an exclusive release. Kind of. And with that, I'm off to sleep.

I honestly can't even begin to imagine the overwhelming feeling that will invade me once I put the disc on my PS4 and see the initial logos appearing on screen.

It's been too long....

Guys, they're not going to announce a release date unless they're 99% confident they'll hit it and they're not going to release an unfinished game. The game's been in some stage of development for a decade now: if they were going to do the former there'd have been a whole string of missed dates over the past few years, and if the latter we'd already be playing a broken version of it. You don't keep a game in development this long to rush it at the last.

my reaction lol

Sounds perfect to me! Been waiting way too long to lose myself in this game.

I'm just wondering now where this will put Star Ocean for western release. I was honestly thinking it would be the September title. Wonder if it could release as early as July?

FFXII was delayed several times and released 2 years later than originally planned.

Yeah I think several FFs got delayed, including IX and XII. But I think he meant a delay after a precise release date (down to the day) has been announced. Once FFXII was announced for March 16, 2006 it was not delayed any longer.

The first release window for FFXII was Fiscal Year 2003 before Square even merged with Enix.

It's a very typical thing these days.Almost all AAA games seem to have at least one delay after the release date announcement.

I will actually be surprised if there's no delay.

Guess the mods have to delete Verendus' account.

In the prediction thread I said September 20th Being that it's be third Tuesday of the month, and Tuesday's are when games are released (unless you're indie or Nintendo).

After having explicitly stated a release date, like if it was set in stone? Sorry, I didn't followed much news on this one, since I didn't had a ps2 at the time...
For Japan they announced a Summer 2004 release, then Winter 2004, then Spring 2005 and lastly Spring 2006 (announced at The Square Enix Party 2005 - similar to the Uncovered event, basically).

But yeah, they didn't name an exact date until the final March 16, 2006 one.

I love this gif, Tabata do Noctis Justice. It's crazy how Tabata ascension to power happened. I do wish him the best of luck because restoring the brand back is no easy feat and his only shot at being a director is on the line. The pressure must be insane.. Last thing he wants is to return back to handheld.

Let's hope FFXV won't end like this case ! I didn't know the game was pushed back like 3 times before coming out! My heart would stop 3 times before then ! Haha

They first announced a Fiscal Year 2003 release (which technically includes January/February/March 2004):
