Ok... I think I have develop an anxiety problem with FFXV and P5. I don't believe in anything after Atlus broke my heart saying "2015? Sure thing" and when SE said TEN years again (a decade) about FF XIII versus. So I believe when I have those games in my hands. I don't believe in release dates now a day. Still waiting for that 2017 delay.

You know the big difference? Tabata never talked about a possible release year until he was confident enough late last year and said "2016", even making sure to also explain that there could be a small chance that they won't make it if something unexpected happens late into development.

I'm 33 as well. So much has happened in my life during these years of production, good grief. The guy I was would see the game very differently than than guy I am now, no matter how good or bad it turns out to be.

They were very careful after the XV reboot announcement not to make vague/unsupported release estimates. SE knows how much the long wait has hurt them, and I don't think they're going to back out of 2016 now that they've finally committed, especially with their making such a big deal out of the date announcement event.

I was 11. I remember seeing the first trailer on G4 during E3 2006, which was the first one I watched live. Crazy.
I have to admit I'm "only" waiting actively since 2011. Between 2006-2009 I wasn't following gaming as much and only got back into it in 2009 when I suddenly started getting hyped for FFXIII a few months before release. After I was finished with FFXIII in 2010 I started looking forward to what's next and remembered Versus. Loved the dark trailers and premise. After the 2011 trailer I was hooked for good and ever since it's been my most anticipated game. It's almost like a natural reflex for me to go on GAF/gaming sites hoping for XVersus threads/news for years now

I think the franchise is as likely to be rejuvenated as laid to rest. There's no reason it can't be rejuvenated, even if XV isn't the game to do it - even the less good FFs are bad in very different ways. And because the formula is built on change, it's not dragged down by over familiarity.
How would you react if the complete opposite happened? Anything can happen at this point.
Oh wow it's been almost 10 years since KH2 was released.
Now that I think about it... I've been waiting for KH3 for as long as I've been waiting for Versus XIII / FFXV

I always remind my parents that I've been waiting for a game that was announced almost a decade ago, and they always find it hard to believe, lol.
If XV comes out and it isn't a 9/10 game people will say the franchise is dead, that the game is such a disappointed that derailed the S-E legacy and that it's one of the worst mainline entries. If XV turns out to be an actual masterpiece people will discredit it because a) it took to long, b) yeah but the main characters are one direction copies, c) nomura didn't direct it and tabata is the spawn of the evil, d) they need to go back to turn based system.
There's no middle ground. People's criticism toward this franchise amazes me. I understand being catious about the game after the last two mainline entries launched being a massive disappointment and Tabata's last game not being that well received (even though everyone was praising it as the real XIII and saviour of the franchise just by looking at a few trailers when it didn't leave Japan), but there's a huge hyperbole going around XV. I'm afraid the game won't be judged by its own merits when it finally releases.

Perfect, I love when there's a big release in September, it's a nice way to kick off the season of releases. Worked great for MGSV last year.

In all fairness,There were 3 side games that continued the story after KH2, and Birth By Sleep is arguable the most important game in the series. Personally, this makes the wait for KH3 much more bearable than P5 and FF15.

While I'm extremely excited for XV, a large part of me (foolishly) expects XVI to be past pre-production right now. They really need to release another new mainline SP focused FF during this console cycle.

Come on! You can't possible believe that those games are as impactful to the mainline Persona series as Chain of Memories, Birth By Sleep, and Dream Drop Distance are to the Kingdom Hearts series. 2 of those are fighting games and 1 is a dance game! I don't 100% agree that they should even be canon... Of course it is not my right to decide what is and what is not canon in Persona but...

Yeah we don't know how much of pre-Druckmann and Straley UC4 was scrapped. It was probably just large parts of the story that was reworked within some of the confines of the environments/areas ND had already built, but Druckmann kept some of the larger elements from Amy's version like Nate's brother being a huge part of it.
