JCBossman said:This is CRAZY I know, but what if that 1 Billion charge that MS took to "Fix" 360's wasn't just to "Fix" them but to ungrade EVERY single 360 to an HD-DVD drive.Think about it 1 Billion to fix xboxes? How does that make sense? If 10 Million Xboxes were made before they fixed the defect and EVERY single ONE failed that would work out to $100 a piece, it doesn't cost MS anywhere NEAR 100 to "Upgrade a Heatsink" and fix the X clamps. But a $100 makes sense if they not only plan on fixing EVERY heatsink but also throwing in a HD DVD Drive.Crazy I know

You're fucking insane.JCBossman said:I agree a high end SKU ain't going to do jack, but what if MS and Toshiba came to an agreement to put a HD-DvD drive in ALL new Sku's? with the way the 360 sells it would be NO time before the "PS3 Blu Effect " is TOTALLY defused. Maybe Toshiba/MS split the cost of doing this, I am NOT at all convinced that a HD-DVD drive would REALLY Cost more than an extra $50 over a regular DVD Drive(that it would replace)=. If MS did this they could just cut out one of their scheduled price cuts to pay their half.

I can see them focusing on the 360 and Zune playing nicer together, especially given the topic of integrated devices. I wouldn't be surprised if they did some integration of the Marketplaces and shared content between Zune/360, or allow transfer to the Zune of content bought on the 360.DenogginizerOS said:Zune will get games that can be downloaded via XBL and transferred to the Zune.
This is the kind of "news" CES usually delivers.

For streaming stuff and loadng the speed would be off and everything wouldn't it?

17 million X 179.99
3,059,830,000,000
Your already over 3 billion dollars. Even using a lower price point for the HD-DVD drive puts it over a billion. Toshiba makes these things, they are not going to give them away free.
GhaleonEB said:Part of me hopes Microsoft does bundle HD-DVD into a SKU just for the hilarity of it. Their position on the external drive all along has been to make it an option because of the uncertainty surrounding the hi-def format war. I'd love to see someone ask them, "So, now that you've lost Warner Brothers, why are you suddenly so confident in HD-DVD?"
