Crap. I was hoping for TLOU2. I know they did it fairly recently, but you just know if they went back to it, and with all they've learned this time around, they could do it just a little bit better.

If I worked at ND and found out that both SSM and GG had tied themselves to last gen hardware, id be ecstatic given this free win. But no, ND tied themselves to last gen engine too. What happened to the culture at these studios? Cory said these games take 4-5 years to make now so he wanted to finish GOW's story in 2 games instead of 3. Ok. But who gives a shit about the story? this is a VIDEO GAME. Why isnt the first thought in your mind GAMEPLAY? Why arent you looking at that crazy hardware cerny created and think hey, we are 5 years away from this sequel, maybe we should target next gen hardware and set a new bar. Create a new masterpiece instead of treading old ground?
I think it's just a matter of the overall decision making being at the hands of Sony financial analysts than the creatives. Maybe the numbers/projections showed that Sony at a group level would be far more profitable by focusing on low risk but high return projects (remakes or remasters of already established franchises, gaas type titles etc) while also realising synergies in marketing with the movie/TV businesses. If the directive from the top says to prioritise low risk ventures, the studio heads can't do anything.

Completely absurd if true.
errrr not really.

Spiderman was remastered and some of the models changed, this merely sounds like a remaster to take advantage of new hardware or something.

So absurd? not really, we got remasters of Uncharted 1 generation after, Last Of Us...1 generation after, ports of Ratchet collection from PS2...1 generation after

In fact, that is so fucking normal, THAT IS THE STANARD thing with their big IP. So I'd say the person calling it a remake is trying to make a sensational headline out of a pretty normal remaster/port thing that Sony generally does. So I'd file this under the "normal" pile in terms of what Sony does and into the exaggeration pile of how its being reported as its clear they want to force this idea that its a "remake" for clicks.

Even saying "only been five years" to get some response.

Uncharted 3 released on PS3 in 2011
It was remastered in 2015 in the PS4 Uncharted collection

Are some of you sure this is "absurd" brand new trend or ? lol

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
Why would there be a remake of Horizon Zero Dawn?

And my god if this series becomes multiplayer only I will be so pissed.

I’m starting to understand why it took so long to get a 60fps patch for Horizon ZD now. They probably had no plans at doing that, but planned to make this remaster instead.

First Horizon still holds up. Who is this for? People who have played it will most likely not care and new players will probably never even see the difference between the original and part two. With TLOU I can understand but this is super crazy.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
They want players to triple dip and promote the upcoming show. Pretty smart. Who know maybe this is playable in VR too

Players who don’t want to buy this can also look forward to the Playstation Showcase that’s happening in 2 weeks time

Sony will remaster/remake a five year old game, but not give Bloodborne or The Last Guardian 60fps patches :ROFLMAO:
That’s the sad part about this. They have games that screams for a remaster but choose the games that are in no need of a remaster. Demon’s Souls was a great choice to remake but since then there has only been ones that make me scratch my head.

It’ll probbly come at some point but at this rate we’ll have a remaster of Returnal before we get a Bloodborne remaster.

I don't think this is a major remake.

It sounds to me like it was easy enough to place the updated character models and procedural generated tech into making Horizon more modern.

I don't really have a problem with this so long as it doesn't take away from significant resources elsewhere. I see it similarly to the Spider-Man for PS5 updates

according to the Horizon Pattern™ that would mean that a week after this remake or remaster, a remake or remaster of an actually good open world game will be released, rightfully overshadowing the Horizon remake/remaster.

so who's ready for BotW on Switch 2?

At this point, I just want Sony to re-release the HD collections they released on PS3 with a resolution boost (or just keep it at the 1080p resolutions, I don't give a shit, I'm not a fucking whore for 4K resolution) and fixing the issues some of the collections had like the Ratchet and Clank HD collection. I want easy access to PS2 and PS3 games on my PS5 that aren't broken pieces of shit like the majority of the PS2 classics they have now on PS4 and PS5, and are not exclusive to unreliable streaming services that *MIGHT* work in "tech-hubs" like San Francisco.

This is arrogant Sony at its worst, led by a guy who is absolutely shitting his pants at the thought of Call of Duty not being released on the Playstation in the future (with clearly no plans to try to adapt to a future without Call of Duty), and clearly wanting to abandon single player games for live-service shit in the future.

Because Sony doesn't look at it from "which games need it" perspective. It's pretty clear that Sony rates its franchises based on multi media appeal. As good as games like Bloodborne and the last Guardian are, they have almost no multi media appeal. They can't exploit them outside of video games in the way that they can with Horizon.

Just look at what Cyberpunk's Anime show did for CB2077...and that's an Anime.

That's a very good point. The more Horizon we get, we all win. Just not how I expected lol.

This isn’t a full fledged remake, its a “directors cut” remaster, like Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, Uncharted…etc It will probably be a 10 dollar upgrade at most or just included with the multiplayer.

If Sony are pushing for more GaaS titles, this could be a component of that. Remaster Horizon, which would be relatively cheap considering it's five years old, tack on a multiplayer mode with Battle Royale, Battle Pass, and cosmetic microtransactions, and push it out the door. $10 upgrade, though? I think it'll be AUD$125.00 like all new Sony first party releases are now.

Not quite like those games because those games didn’t get new character models, etc.

Better comparison is Spider-man Remastered because they redid Peter’s model, among other bits.

I can understand being frustrated with Sonys communication but being actually outraged about the idea of a remaster of a popular game is absolutely absurd to me lol

Someone post that pornstar meme with saying “oh fuck, jimbos gonna make me pay 70 dollars for another remake”

I suspect they will do a "complete edition" a bit like Miles Morales and Spiderman 1 remastered. Horizon zero dawn remastered + Horizon Forbidden west + maybe the new DLC. Likely for new players more than anything just like the Spiderman bundle.

Lol reselling a game they already sold to you in a bundle to get the first game and DLC for "cheaper" in a different bundle is a very Sony move.

I completely forgot about the spiderman remaster :/ You’re right, that is the same thing. I have a feeling this one isn’t going to work out like how they think it will. Spiderman has universal appeal. Horizon is good but it ain’t Spiderman.

I guess but they did offer Spiderman 1 remaster standalone eventually and the DLC was always available separately so here's hoping.
They should do like Fortnite does and if you already own pieces of the bundle (digitally) they discount it so you are only paying for what you don't already own.

But that would make too much sense.

How can this be a major remake when they are simply going from one PS4 game to another. They are literally porting over to HFW's character models. At least TLOU was a PS3 game remade with PS4 quality assets from TLOU2. This is a quick cash grab reusing the character models and other visual enhancements made for the sequel. And mark my words, this will be a $70 release. They will justify it by making it PS5 only, and by touting amazing next gen features like accessibility settings and dualsense features.

Regardless of how many resources it will take, it will take away resources. Just like how patching the PC version of HZD for six months ultimately cost them a delay to 2022. Just the fact that a premiere Sony studio is making a last gen remake/remaster in 2023 is downright depressing. The idea shouldve been canned immediately by higher ups. Studio shouldve had revolts. Mass resignations.

I cant believe this is the same studio that made KZ2 in Feb 2009. 2.5 years after launch. Imagine their big Feb 2023 release being a last gen DLC and a last gen remaster. Questions have to be raised here. Gaming journos arent going to. DF isnt going to. The PS fanbase has to make this as big a deal as they made the HFW free upgrade fiasco and the PS3 vita store closings.

Isn't there a rumored Horizon TV show coming out sooner or later? If there is, then this remake of HZD probably do exist then. I think even GT7 for some peculiar reason getting a movie or something from what I heard?
