Rumor: Is Retro Studio teasing their presence at E3?

The obsession with Retro working on Eternal Darkness its kind of interesting.

ED is a cult classic at best, i love it but its not exactly a game with much demand, less from Retro Studios, that game had totally different strengths and weaknesses. from anything Retro has worked before

Never mentioned Metroid ;)

But it would be the logical choice, a game like Splatoon doesnt deny this overwhelming 2D platforming goddness the Wii U has.

Haha that's true! My bad.

I'm in a good place where I don't think I could be disappointed with what Retro's next game is. I just hope we don't get something like that Raven 5 or whatever their old cancelled game was.

Kensuke Tanabe : Maybe the Donkey Kong series over time will also feature both 2D and 3D like as in the Super Mario series! The style of the next Donkey Kong Country title would also depend on the game design.

You guys up for a DKC 3D platformer ? I'd be okay with it, but I'd like Retro to take a break from DKC at least for 2 more projects.

Did they tweet in anticipation of last year's E3? If not, then I think this is pretty telling.

Retro set up a Twitter account at the beginning of this year. I don't think they ever made any other comment on any other social media site about their previous titles.

Time for dong to expand out of 2D into 3D once more.

Though really I'm up for anything, Retro have my trust.

It's Metroid X DKC to satisfy both groups of fans.
Neither side ends up satisfied

I don't know, I was pretty satisfied, the crashed ship is symbolic of Other M.

It'd be great if it was a Murasame Castle reboot. Kind of a Zelda-like third person action adventure game but with its own personality.

That seems a little misguided, putting Nintendo's biggest first-party western studio on a reboot of a Famicom game that only left Japan last year.

What's stopping them from doing other Nintendo IP's? Let's get that Eternal Darkness sequel already! Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Return.

Man, I want to see a new Retro Studios project

Keeping my expectations in check, however. Tropical Freeze was in 2014. This would be quite a quick turnaround. I know Miyamoto said they're at the point where they could work on multiple games, but still...

Hopefully we'll see something, but I'm guarded.

Not going to lie, anything Retro related still gets me excited :)

Don't know if I take this as a pure joyous comment about Retro studios (possibly, we don't know yet) showing something at this E3 or if there's more behind it. Just tell me if there are Booker T's spinaroonies behind it, it's all I care right now

I've been hoping that Nintendo has been secretly sending employees over to Retro over the last few years to help with the load. Give them a properly large-ish team to use.

But what if a small group started development of a new game in early 2013 or even earlier and it's now so far that they show us a good gameplay trailer and even release it by the end of the year? Doesn't sound THAT impossible to me...it's Nintendo after all. Just remember Mario 3D World. Announced at E3 and released in November.

That would be tits

Zelda spinoff starring Dampe the gravedigger incoming

I've figured it out.

Can you dig it? is indeed a reference to Booker T as immediately pointed out.
Designed to lead us in the direction of the Spineroonie.
Apply that to DKC and you've got the Kongaroonie...

Lanky Kong returns, as the Book Man himself would say, "AWWWW Shucky Ducky Quack Quack"!

Trago, pls. If I wanted to play generic-looking fantasy, I'd play Witcher 3.

But serious: it would be amazing if Retro could just do what they want. Why not making a completly new game without an existing IP? Could be sweet or...no...it just could be sweet. Retro can't disappoint.

Why do so many people hate Retro's Donkey Kong Games? And want them to do the same things over and over? I'd actually like to play the next Metroid game since I cannot play FPS games.

I want either another DKC game (they've clearly shown more skill and technique in the 2D platform genre to rival EAD) or watch them to something different (either a new IP or revive a dead IP). I don't want another Prime because I actually want to be able to play the next Metroid game.

Enough DK Retro. Please bring on a new IP. Or at least Metroid.
