Rumor: Is Retro Studio teasing their presence at E3?

Considering the push the DKC series has had this year - Club Nintendo reward, DK64 VC release, DKC Trilogy VC release - a new DKC for Wii U to finish the trilogy is likely.

So, let's say that this isn't nothing and DKC6 is announced at E3. Problem is that one Mr. Wise is currently tied down working on Yooka-Laylee. I don't think he could feasibly work on something as large as a DKC OST at the same time if Tropical Freeze is anything to go by.

I don't think Nintendo would hold up a release because he's unavailable. They'll just have the DKCR composer do it.

a pristine marriage of Metroid Prime and Vanquish is the dream

Metroid: Vanquish lives.

I'm not saying Nintendo wouldn't release it because David Wise isn't on board. I'm just saying that it would be very disappointing.

Retro "choosing" to do Tropical Freeze next seems more like a PR response than Retro actually having the final say in what they worked on next.

For example, Next Level Games was developing a prototype for a Metroid title only to find out in a progress meeting that they were actually going to work on a new Luigi's Mansion. But they aren't going to come out and say they actually wanted to work on Metroid, are they?

Nintendo is boss, and they have the final say. If Miyamoto & company are wanting a new Metroid from Retro then that is when we are going to get it, not the other way around.

Thankfully, as you pointed out, it seems Miyamoto wants to continue the Prime series (in spirituality at least), and Retro is the obvious choose for that.

I mean... I can believe Nintendo dictating what project Retro is going to be on next, but I also believe the statement "they came to us with a choice between two things".

It's restrictive in it's own way and both options favor Nintendo either commercially or critically. There's no reason to disbelieve the Retro chap on this.

I hope it's not Donkey Kong. I mean if it is, I'll buy it, and I'll play it, because it's going to be good. But I hope it's something else.

Plz no Donkey Kong. The immense disappointment I had two years ago when their second Donkey Kong game was announced.

Hoping for anything else but Donkey Kong.

He has shared responsibilities on Yooka. Also if it's DKC6, it means it's extremely far along into development which means he would have been working on it for a while now. Yooka has just started. The scheduling of the two probably works out well in this case.

Don't worry friends, I'm sure the Samus Amiibo will allow you to play whatever non Metroid title this is with her signature helmet on the player character.

Ah but I'd consider Kirkhope to have the bigger role there, plus they've also got Steve Burke on board.

Team Wise and Yamamoto must come to fruition (no matter what the game actually ends up being).

I think I'd take the delay.

Donkey Kong Country: Fuck You It's Not Metroid Prime 4 or Donkey Kong Country: Lanky's Ironic Meme Fest please.

Is it odd that I legitimately like Lanky Kong?

If it was a new Metroid game, what would be the first thing you'd want to hear in the reveal? You know, as the screen is black before it gets going. Something that tips it off...

"Can you dig it" could also be hinting at a Black Dynamite tie-in game.

They could also be asking a genuine question for if Retro's fans can dig the grave big enough to house the Metroid remains now that the series has perished, at least that's what all the Metroid threads on GAF keep telling me.

"data received"
Scan hype is go.

"One more thing..."
If it's Reggie I demand "If you listen you can hear it coming" except with Brinstar overgrown percussion this time.

I will never not be bitter that the show got cancelled at the end of the last season. It was still pulling in roughly a million viewers at 10 PM on a Saturday each week, for crying out loud!

Is it bad that we're looking at this phrase meaning something, by the way? I mean, it's just a phrase people say; it seems specific enough to be a hint, but after the pumpkin incident, I think Retro knows people'll scrutinize anything they post at this point.

While I would love a new Metroid or even DK by Retro, I really want to see what they could do with a new IP.

I just noticed I'm now a full member!

I don't care unless it's the word "Sakamoto" or "Team Ninja"

While I'd love a new Metroid (and it is about time, Nintendo, not just from Retro but period), I don't care what it is if it has that dev on it. Retro has not let me down yet and even if it is another DK, then fine, they've been excellent so far so I'd be okay. Very excited to see it.

They're probably laughing at us right now.

It's almost ironic when you know there's another platformer masterpiece incoming...

... and then you don't want it.

I need my metroid. :(

Don't know if I take this as a pure joyous comment about Retro studios (possibly, we don't know yet) showing something at this E3 or if there's more behind it. Just tell me if there are Booker T's spinaroonies behind it, it's all I care right now

haha no, i honestly don't know!

im just a big fan of their work.

yes, even FUCKING donkey kong. :)
