[Rumor] PS4's Marketing Campaign: "Greatness Awaits"

A young boy is playing in the woods.
He sees a deer scampering several yards away and begins to follow it.
It leads him deeper and deeper into the woods, before coming to an open glade.
There, in the middle of a circular pool of sunlight, grows:

close-up: a single, perfectly formed four-leaf clover.

SUPER:

PLAYSTATION 4

They've done it before.

After all the mass shootings with video games somehow centered on the perpetrators? Sounds like an ad waiting to be edited or left unused.

edit: saw the ad you linked to. Nice, but I'm not sure I'd go with something like that today since it's bound to be pulled at the first hint of controversy.

Any mecha porn is welcome, I'd defnitely buy the PS4 for Armored Core 6, or any game for that matter. I'd just wish they'd give the MSG series another shot.

I'm sure they will, it just depends on if it gets localized. There's always a crowd for some huge mecha action.

It really gives off a 'Michael' vibe. The Michael ad was all about the player getting involved with all these pretend worlds, this sounds the same. Which is cool, because I liked the Michael ad.

I can't see them actually usuing that "get away with murder" line though.

I like it. Think it has an awful lot of potential.

Remains to be seen whether it's the actual campaign core script but it's certainly plausible imo.

Edit: The murder thing is probably too much and the "imagination of a brilliant child" makes me cringe.

GREATNESS AWAITS ...

Sure. I mean these are obviously not final treatments.

But depending on how it's done, they might. It could be very tongue in cheek, making plainly obvious that we're talking about imagination (ala Double Life). Or it could be media bait, as some previous ads have been...and sometimes that's actively courted.

It has an awful lot of potential. Most casual gamers are not going to pick the PS4 up before the first price drop/revision so it makes sense to pander toward the hardcore. Their ad campaign will take on a drastically different tone after the hardcore are already on board.

Yeah, and those 599 US dollars got me a console that I've been using almost daily since November of 2006. Greatness indeed.

I just want to see a price tag, especially given the subsidized NextBox rumors. $600 $500 up front for PS4 vs. $300 up front for Infinity would be devastating for PS4 imo.

Cliche, but Sony does it well.

I still think "Go Fourth" should be stuck somewhere in the launch campaign

I hope Sony advertises their strengths in a similar manner to the Dear PlayStation ads: highlighting the PS+ benefits, PSN brand, free online, exclusives, Share feature, sleep mode, Gaikai. A general gaming advertisement can build hype, but the general consumer should know about what Sony does different. If MS's advertising isn't even geared towards this gamey PS4 ad, then I guess MS will do Sony's job for them (and vice versa)

Everything's in the treatment for these things. You could read a script and it might seem lame as hell, but the execution can bring it to brilliance. Or vice versa.

I would say though, the bit about Destiny is interesting. Obviously Bungie was at the Feb meeting and talked about a 'partnership' with Sony, and announced a content deal. But maybe it's a marketing thing too?

So this is what they were filming in Mexico that got mistaken for a GTA advert.

The lone guy, gang, banged up cars, buildings, Killzone, Last of Us and GTA V featured.

Lying about what?

He's just upset that his crush gets stabbed by a good looking guy.
Okay, time for more FINAL FANTASY V - VI - VII - VIII -IX PS4: REMAKE talks.

Sounds like a good ad but I do think they are going to use the "Best place to play" line that they said all the time at the unveil.

I dont know if anyone else remembers it but i remember a live in your world play in ours commercial that Sony did years ago where to cops were sitting in a cop car playing (i think) twisted metal. I remember it being pretty funny, but cant find it anywhere, I still think that ad campaign was one of the best they did personally.

The R&C ads were always awesome too.
