Rumor: Resistance 2 on a 50GB BR disc too?

I thought this was confirmed a while ago. Someone at Insomniac said that mgs4 and R2 were the only games on 50gig blu ray so far
 
Makes sense. Its cheaper for them long term since they can just fill up the empty space with multiple language packs etc so they don't need to release 40 different languages disk sets

Because it ties into the whole "BD is a benefit to games" thing. I don't know in what sense you mean "matter." Nobody's live depends on it. It's just one of the issues that's been brought up when discussing PS3's technology.

Wouldn't most games from now on be on 50GB BR disks? Especially first party ones. Don't see the big deal.
 
I may be on a BD-50 if it has 1080p support. Remember they ripped 1080p from the original and that dropped the size of the game because they got rid of some higher resolution textures and such or so I hear.
 
With the amount of features in this game, single player game, seperate 8player co-op campaign and 60player online multiplayer ... well this is no surprise.

He confirmed this in another interview also when he mentioned MGS4 would also be using it. Of course people didn't believe him then. For whatever reason.

Why'd they drop the textures, performance ?

I remember when Resistance was supposedly 1080p and got changed. Although I'm not so sure R2 will be 1080p either. But I think they will aim for 60fps.
 
Thats cool with me hopefully they have more shit into that. I liked they extras that were in the first the videos of making the game of the first were cool hopefully they can do the same for this one.

Can't you compress the hec out of every file on a pc game disk since they mainly install to the HDD?
 
Two complete campaigns (single-player and co-op) plus a 60-player multiplayer mode will do that. Besides, even being a launch game, the first Resistance had a pretty long single-player campaign, and I'm sure this one is going to be just as big, if not bigger.

Last time I checked Resistance 2 was a PS3 exclusive so why does it matter if the memory size is inflated if Blu-Ray is the media the game is on? You shouldn't have even mentioned the 3-shitty.

Why 50GB?

Decompressing files takes CPU time.
Lossless audio too, multiple languages.
A variety of environment - more space needed for textures.
Bonus content.

Sure they could compress the hell, but the media is there to be used.

Considering they bragged about using all 25GBs in the first game, this news does not impress me. I'm still trying to figure out what they were able to do with the additional space in the first game.
