Rumor: Resistance 2 on a 50GB BR disc too?

I think Ploid and KTall are bein sarcastic.........

But yer, would like to see another studio that pumps out AAA titles yearly........ like Insomniac do.

Nah nah fuck that it ain't sarcasm unless it has a smiley! :D

Hm, I think this Steinberg guy might be alright. He tows the company line and spits the usual PR crap but he doesn't seem as cocky or foot-in-the-mouth as the people that usually speak for Sony

I know I guess I should have put a lol-icon acknowledge that.

Sorry about my first post fellas. I was just kidding.

About the direction of this thread ending up like Kojima's I doubt that. There is no shadow of hope that Resistance2 would wind up on another console so there's nothing for people to get sad and complain about. The only possible thing for people to be sad about is that blu ray is actually being used by devs for good purposes.

This is the only console that has a blu ray drive so it's bound to piss some people off that their's don't have one. If more games take advantage of it, that could be bad for other console companies. If devs never used blu ray it would be bad for sony.

Uncompressed audio goodness. I love it. Now just to save up for a 7.1 Surround Sound system. Maybe they also want to shift more files to the SPU? Wonder how many more features they haven't told us about yet that they hope to put into the game. And, no loading. Yeah! Right? :D

I miss Phill too :p

No I'm so serious, jesus Insomniac, putting out two PS3 exclusives in the first year of the PS3... if they weren't so lazy they'd make all their games multiplatform like EA.

Well, if they're actually going to use it and not just have it for the "OMG OUR GAME IS ON 50gb BLU-RAY" then this is good news. Resistance was a very solid and enjoyable game and how do I put this... of amazing quality for a launch title, I anticipate this with great anticipation.

I miss Wollan too.

Considering they bragged about using all 25GBs in the first game, this news does not impress me. I'm still trying to figure out what they were able to do with the additional space in the first game.

If you had a 7.1-capable receiver, you'd have at least part of the answer to this question.

I have been playing R:FoM for a long time on a good 5.1 system, then I went to a buddies house and played it on a 7.1 system. It was a revelation. I've been saving for my new HDMI-capable 7.1 receiver and two additional speakers ever since.

I think you should have spaced that son cause yeah that don't sound right! If you get what I am hinting at.

Because other games do that right?

Calling Insomniac lazy is nothing short of a joke.

Fuck. Why does it need to be on a DVD on the PS2?
It works just fine on the PS1 on a CD.

Fuck. Why does it need to be on a CD on the PS1?
It works just fine on the N64 cart that holds 64Mb.

I don't care what people say, non compressed audio is a VERY good thing, less compression used for textures is another great thing. If it's there, WHY wouldn't they use it.

Only the have nots would be pissed off by this news. Every PS3 owner is thrilled that they're getting higher quality sound/textures, larger and more levels, and more features packed on a disk on exclusive titles than they would if the devs tried to randomly slim it to 7gb. Sure they could have compressed it, and they could compress it down to fit on a CD Rom too if they compressed it enough, but it wouldn't be the same game.

More capacity has always been viewed as a good thing in video gaming. Always. It's not until this gen that people have felt differently about it. It was good for gaming in the past, and it is good for gaming now. If nothing else, the scratch resistant coating on BluRay disks is absolutely amazing.

Kojima Productions, I may have been slightly skeptical of. But if Insomniac decides that 50GB is right to hold the awesomeness of one of the year's best titles, then so be it!

in before more "useless" arguments

He was killed in the ensuing aftermath of his promises of Killzone 2 glory at Play.com last weekend.

WHAT? I'm going on a posting strike until he's back...

Wollan is to NeoGAF what the writers are to TV.

Hey, thanks for doing that. You may have just saved others from countless headaches. I don't think many people know what Blu-Ray is truly capable of, but you put it in such a nice way that it was easy to understand. Kudos. Great man. :D

He is a gaffer, just like the rest of us ... logic does not dictate action.

JStevenson just PM'd me and said the reason Resistance2 will be shipping on 50gig Blu Ray is because they are including the first season of The Cosby Show on the disc.

....we're through the looking glass here people.

You there! Response to the Quest 4 Booty DLC thing! Now!

Please? :)

Damn, with this question, he will disappear into the real of unknown again. You should know JS by now. When you ask him anything related to what he is working on, he will disappear.

So what's Insomniac's total gigabyte output for this gen going to be after they release RFOM2? Nearly 100 GB? Can any dev compare? I think not.

Edit: wait, wait...let me rephrase for maximum sarcasm *clears throat*

Insomniac puts other devs to shame with their Gigabyte output.

And the man of the thread award goes to you sir.

I wrote a story for RipTen as a guest about trying to prove the truth of the leaked PSN schedule. It should be going live soon. I hope some media outlets take notice and start picking up on it as well. Maybe with enough pressure Sony will give way. :D
