They made a deal, a deal benefits both sides, so is not that they "buy" an exclusive. A deal can be something like, instead of Sony on keeping the 20% of the winnings of a game, they keep just 10%, something like that.

I'm really excited for Sony's E3 this year since they've shown dick all at DICE and GDC. Hopefully they're saving up some good announcements. As for the exclusivity deal? A little late in the game for Sony to be doing this now, me thinks. For sport I'll guess its GearsofWar on PS3. Not GoW3 exclusive on PS3 per say, more likely a special edition of 1 and/or 2.

Timed exclusivity is a joke. Either go the distance or dont bother. If its timed than you can count on it not taking full advantage of the PS3 hardware because they have to think of the 360 later down the line. Timed exclusive does not do anything but piss gamers off. This is coming from somebody that owns all 3 consoles.
