(Rumor)(spoilers) this Possible UC4 Easter Egg oh boy

I still prefer Crash 3. The Crash levels are just too good, makes up for how rough the plane and underwater levels are. Plus it has the best secrets. It's great.

Spyro 2 definitely better than 3 though. Fuck Agent 9. FUCK AGENT 9

I 100% think a new Crash game is coming in the next 18 months but I still got zero idea who is making it. So many options....

Activision does it on their own. Vicarious Visions or someone makes it. Sony co markets the heck out of it.

Sony licences the IP from Activision. Cerny produces it since he is the biggest name from the old Crash days who makes sense to be the face of it. Any number of random devs could make it.

Or Sony somehow got the IP. I dont know how. Maybe they trade a IP for it? Lemmings traded to get Crash or something.

Naughty Dog makes it. It a one off and just a way for the studio to take a break from the 4 year cycle AAA slog. A $40 budget game that has a relatively short dev time and small team.

Maybe Crash has a similar clause as The Terminator where the original creators get the brand back if it wasn't used for a while. Jason Rubin makes Crash for Oculus!

Bolded are the most likley imo. Activision haven't done jack-shit with the IP in years and it's been Sony that's been doing all the teasing.

hoping for some more crash bandicoot easter eggs, like finding time relics, cyrstals, gems and CTR tokens as treasures. Have some crash related multiplayer items like TLOU had jak and daxter stuff if IRC.

Yeah really, if they bothered to license Crash they should at least milk it :V

I'd pay actual money for
original

As a taunt In multiplayer

latest

as a relic and multiplayer mask.

We had the precursor egg from Jak And Daxter drawn on the plane in the first Uncharted. I don't think emulating Jak And Daxter within the game will be feasible since it is an open world game (PS Vita struggles to run the HD collection in decent FPS). Maybe in the next ND game and on PS4 Neo. A proper sequel or reboot for Jak And Daxter is needed.

Wouldn't that over-saturate the brand? I mean, I'd rather have polished games that developers take their time on instead of a rushed and unfinished product.

I think he meant to milk the crash references if they bothered to go through the work of getting the IP in uncharted 4. Who knows how they managed to do this, but if its a once in a life time chance go all out.

That has more to do with the developer than the Vita.

Twinsanity could've been...SHOULD'VE been...such a dope game, instead of the faint praise of "best non-ND Crash game I guess"
That's still saying something considering the final game had about two thirds of its content axed. Besides that and Tag-Team Racing (which I believe was the same developers?), everything else Crash related since it left Naughty Dog has been absolutely miserable.

Twinsanity isn't remotely perfect but I really dug it for what it was. If Naughty Dog or another Sony developer is definitely getting it back, I hope while sticking more to the originals they still integrate some of the post-ND stuff.

Unlike Crash I feel like the original Spyro games have aged terribly and whereas I wished ND still had Crash during the PS2 era since I wasn't big on Jak & Daxter (especially after the sequel), Ratchet & Clank made me glad Insomniac were able to move onto something far more fresh.

I don't think a majority of the post-Naughty Dog games are "miserable". Yes, the series had its ups and downs but the games aren't as terrible as people make them out to be.

Wrath of Cortex is miserable, just a copy-paste Warped. CNK is a modest attempt to recreate CTR but the karts are slow as molasses. Twinsanity had some neat ideas going for it but was stripped down to the bone with content.

Now this is subjective but I believe that Crash of the Titans is the most polished game outside of the original games. It has platforming and gameplay that harkens back to the classics and the combat it pure fun and addicting. Same could go for Mind Over Mutant to an extent but I prefer Titans more. People get all up in arms merely for the character designs alone and that always annoyed me to no end. Yes, characters like Tiny were complete bastardizations but a majority of the cast remains largely the same as they were beforehand.

What if it was just ps1 classics, or a remake of one.

Both of these wouldn't be bad but just ps1 classics while good also dissappointing.

Hoping for ps1 classics plus a new game.

Activision my likely let them license the IP for a moderate price and grow the brand at Sony's expenses and then proceed to milk it with a few phoned in titles after Sony is done with resurrecting the brand. Win win for both companies, not ideal for consumers... but there would still be some Crash Bandicoot games coming...

This wouldn't really be a win-win for Sony. The price for licensing Crash for this one cameo (which doesn't grow the brand, it just reinforces it was only worth shit in the 90s) is never not going to be unreasonably high (even if they do pay for it), and they will never, ever make a new first-party Crash game without securing the rights to the series and future games in their entirety.

The actual win-win scenario would be Sony paying up, as Acti gets paid and Sony gets a series they obviously want to use.

Huh.

Didn't realise this year is the 20th anniversary of Crash Bandicoot 1.

That's convenient

I think that is one of the info that sparked the more in depth conversation about it for the last few years.

But we thought it would have been announced before and would be released in 2016

I think a 2016 release is still very likely. It's surely getting announced at E3 this year. I don't think announce and release like 5 months later is out of the question. They did it with LBP3.

True, I just keep wondering who is making this. Sanzaru? a small team in ND? A secondary team at Sucker Punch? Insomniac?

Naughty Dog, Sanzaru and JAPAN Studio (i.e. some of the people who worked on Puppeteer or Knack) seem like the most likely candidates (in reverse order).

Puppeteer was fucking FANTASTIC so I'm voting for those devs. Then again so was Sly 4.

Yes that would be awesome. Gavin Moore who was the director at Pupeteer is still at JAPAN Studio and so (kinda) is Mark Cerny, this duo can sure cook something incredible.

And when you think about dev cylces, both should have something coming out soon since their games were released in 2013

Hand it off to Bluepoint since I think they haven't announced their next project yet.
They wouldn't even require THAT much work, here's how they look just after one week when I was bored and tried to see what I could do with the games by forcing widescreen, 1080p, and replacing the soundtrack with the original pre-console mixes via OGG Vorbis injection...

Though Crash 1 DOES need the most work...

Oh shit Crash 2 looks nice. Few PS1 games have aged well as these. (Well, besides Crash 1, like you say that's a rough one.)

I think any "remastered" package for the Crash series would definitely need to include version select. The PAL, NTSC and JP versions of all three games have differences of varying degrees and bringing those over at long last would be great.

I said on a thread before and I will say it again, this looks dope.

A new Crash game would easily make up for the lack of NX at E3 for me. I've been waiting for a return to this series for years :(
