RUMOR: Synopsis for Fox's 2015 Fantastic Four reboot (um...)

Fox needs to give some people ...some freedom to pursue other things. Its how we got aliens, predator, robocop, topgun, Terminator, etc etc. Their comic book movies are shit, how do all of them suck? And they do , from the half funded litmus test X1 to the Cthulu of comic book movies the FF4 reboot they are just cringe worthy adaptations. Half of them would've been good movies had they been based on original IP , FC woulda been awesome take out the mutants and powers and make a spec ops team , based in the 60's with an opportunistic villain , oh and the black guy gets to live. ALL the xmen movies would've been better as original IP with no trace of mutants or marvel. FF should be burned in a fire and offered to Cthulu as a burnt offering.

These piles of shit shouldn't surprise though they did the same thing with the Aliens and the Predator properties *they even combined their shit together to make a mega shit...twice*, just shit after pile of shit. They need some fresh new original movies to make that arent based on existing IP. like 8 or 9 comic book movies and they are all trash compared to the greats of the last decade. Even X2 which was enjoyable....is fucking dumb and shouldnt have even progressed past the opening scene with Colossus *vs sleep darts* in the mansion.

The xmen and FF4 are both worthy of epic movies, the xmen are the greatest TEAM in comics *or the Teen Titans* their teamwork is second to none, and the FF4 are the greatest explorers in comics no realm/timeline left unsearched, marvels first family, THE comicbook that built the marvel U's very fabric. I dont mind jessica alba stripping but shes the invisible woman......

Don't Marvel's movies always make an ass-load of money? How much could Fox really be asking for?

I honestly don't care as much about Spider-Man or the X-Men, but Fantastic Four is one that they really should just bite the bullet and pay for. As others have said, Doctor Doom is pretty much the Marvel villain. And with all the cosmic stuff they are doing now it is a shame we won't have Galactus and the Surfer taking part. Who is going to rush in and save the day while Captain America is getting OHKO'd by Thanos in Avengers 3?

Yeah, I could mostly give or take the actual Fantastic Four but the crop of villains that comes with the franchise would be amazing to see in the Marvel films.

The fact that the Marvel movies consistently make money are why Fox would probably be asking for a lot. Marvel would have had a better chance before Avengers was a huge hit. Now it's going to be hard to pry any of their IPs from other studios unless they can't get them in production in time. They'll all be holding on to as many properties as possible in hopes of creating their own Avengers situation.

For some reason, I imagine one of those goofy female Bane cosplayers but with Doom instead.

It's been done.

If they're going female Doom, either make it Doom's mom or an alternate universe's Doom + Sue's daughter.

Charlize Theron would be a good female Doom but I'm assuming Reed and Doom are suppose to be around the same age so it probably won't happen.

At this point I'm convinced Fox wants this to fail. There's no other explanation.

It's not that they want it to fail. It's that they need to get it into production by October to retain the rights and getting something slapped together by then, however half-assed, is more important to them than thinking for even one second about how to make it a good movie.
I'm sure someone has mentioned this already, but a MCU with Doom and Galactus would be insane. One can dream.
They've already got fairly strong planned films all the way up through, like, the year 2021. But yeah, acquiring Doom, Galactus, and the Power Cosmic/Galactus' Heralds would be a great boon to Marvel after that point.
I'm not inherently opposed to this, but it's symptomatic of the casting rumors as a whole: so thoroughly all over the place as to imply that Fox has no idea how they want to portray the characters.
Yeah, stuff like this makes it almost certain that the screenplay isn't close to being finished yet.

This does definitely reek of trying too hard to get a project fast-tracked. It'll be a miracle if this goes into production by October.

Well, on the one hand, I think they don't give a fuck and might happily release a disaster of a film just to retain the rights.

On the other hand, putting out a movie that bombs costs a bunch of money and at that point simply selling the rights *does* look like a more attractive proposition.

Anyhow, look for this film to have a major Chinese film star in it somehow and get a 3D conversion too, lol

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they do let the rights lapse and instead double down on the X-Men films by getting some of those offshoots off the ground, like X-Force and X-Factor. Making a whole XCU seems like a smarter bet at this point.

The thing that gives me the most pause about potentially changing Doom to a woman is that Fox will probably make her a stereotypical psycho ex girlfriend or something. She will want Reed dead because he dumped her or something.

This thread is great.

The Hollywood Reporter thing is the first piece of legitimate news that's popped up in it. Everything else has been debunked rumor. Yet those debunked rumors are being held against the film as if they still carry weight or something.

"There's no other explanation for all this fake news about stuff that's not going to happen other than Fox obviously wants this movie to fail, and that's why they're not doing these things I hate that were never happening in the first place"
