Rumor: The Last Guardian Cancelled

Even IF this was true (and gosh, it may well be), there's no way they'd announce this shit at E3. They'd probably just never mention it again lol

Rumors by their definition is "a tall tale of explanations of events circulating from person to person and pertaining to an object, event, or issue in public concern" so yes. It's true that there is a rumor about The Last Guardian being cancelled. There's also a rumor that is launches in 2014. Nobody gives a shit until it's finally released.

Next weeks rumor: "Half-Life 3 cancelled"

If it's true, Sony wouldn't keep the rumour mill festering.

We'll probably find out within 2-3 days. If it shows, it's alive. If it doesn't show, Sony would be putting themselves in a PR-nightmare to still acknowledge that game.

If it doesn't show up at E3 they might as well stick a fork in it.

Not that it would be surprising and I'm already expecting it not to come out, but I don't think this source is one to know.

That's the problem. Until Sony or Team ICO clearly say "TLG won't happen", people will keep believing

I won't lie, I opened GAF, this was the first thread, and my heart skipped like I'd just read my favourite actor had died out of nowhere. That's bizarre, but this saga has completely engrossed me.

I don't even know what to believe anymore, I just want closure :(

Also, Ueda is still under contract to deliver a third game for Sony.

If TLG is cancelled, then he has to start a whole new game for them. So yeah. No chance.

This is Yoshida in November 2013, teasing about having still played Last Guardian recently, and being coy about whether he played it with a PS3 or PS4 controller:

Yoshida has time and time again refused to say it has been canceled, and has on multiple occasions slyly hinted it's still coming. Or like in June 2013, saying this:

"That hiatus term—I’m not a native English-speaking person—but that’s misleading," Yoshida told me a few minutes ago during an interview here at E3. He'd watched Tretton's comments on Spike.com while eating lunch. "The game is in active development. [Lead designer Fumito] Ueda-san shared updates a few months ago. Nothing has changed. My answer is, 'Yes, the game is in active development.' It’s not hiatus at all. But we are not ready to reintroduce it. When we are ready, we will do that. Please wait."

So, man, I hope they didn't finally give up on it in the interim months.

Then, of course, there's every fucking Sony insider under the sun non-so-slyly hinting at it in every topic available to them.

I doubt it somehow, considering how close we are to E3. Someone in the West or in Japan closer to Sony Tokyo would have leaked it by now.

If it is cancelled though, it surely spells the end of Team ICO, which would be a tragedy for Sony.

Let me know when somebody reputable says this.

The fact that they call it a rumor cracks me up. So your rumor is based on somebody elses rumor? Fantastic.

I wish this wasn't the norm for E3, but they know most people will forget it 2 weeks.

All I have to say is....

Did we ever see anything except for that one announcement trailer? It wouldn't surprise me, even if the rumor sources aren't exacty credible.

So two people said that there's a rumor that perhaps a game that they know nothing about was canceled.

Such progress.

This game has had at least 7 years of development. So it is one of the most developed games of all time. There's no way they'll abandon such a well developed game.

Cue 10 pages of people bitching before the thread gets shut down again.

It's a rumor from a site we heard of about a rumor from a Russian site we've never heard of, show some restraint people.
