Might be a new IP then. Hasn't 343 been open for almost three years now? Since there's no way Microsoft will release a Halo title after unveiling it only 3 months earlier, chances are it won't release until late 2012. Unless 343 are building an entirely new engine, it seems like they should have some surplus manpower on this project.TheOddOne said:I think the Halo Wars franchise might be something they are looking into. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/297067/features/halo-where-does-master-chief-go-next/Recent rumours have suggested a Halo HD remake using the Reach engine, which would make sense for a couple of reasons: one, it would be low cost and low risk, allowing 343 to bond quickly and efficiently with a cautious Halo community still mourning Bungie; and two, it would tie in with Combat Evolved's ten-year anniversary.
Or are Microsoft thinking bigger? Remember, Reach made $200 million on day one, propelling Halo into the realms of a billion-dollar franchise, and a remake, while fan-pleasing, may fail to bridge the gap to casual consumer cash. But even if CE HD ends up being a reality, one thing is certain: Halo 4 is being worked on, and it is on its way - financially, Microsoft won't want an autumn 2012 without the franchise.
We know what isn't happening, at least, with O'Connor confirming that 343 are "not working on any side stories as games at the moment," meaning no return to ODST or Halo Wars. And depending upon how much you want to read into things, when asked what Master Chief's 2011 was looking like this month, O'Connor told us: "I imagine he will be chilling. Literally."
Does that mean the big man is suspended in cryo for now? It goes against whispers we've been hearing for a while, which is that, at E3 in June, there'll be a huge Halo announcement - and that Master Chief will be front and centre of it.
Doubt they will be working on a new IP, 343 is pretty much a Halo-studio. I still doubting if they are building a new engine or just tweaking the existing engine. Corrinne Yu seems to be busy, she use to tweet a lot.Garjon said:Might be a new IP then. Hasn't 343 been open for almost three years now? Heh, I like this quote: "But we would be lazy and very lacking in imagination if we didn't inject lots of brand new questions into the universe, and enigma, mystery, and awe are at the heart of what drives the fiction."TheOddOne said:I think the Halo Wars franchise might be something they are looking into. I agree about Halo 1, but Halo 2 needs a remake, or at the very least a port with a balance fix. I love that game, but its campaign is BROKEN.bobs99 ... said:If they do remake Halo 1 or Halo 2, they need to include xbox live multiplayer, otherwise I just dont see the point. I wonder if they could work out a way to use both kinda like Pandora Tomorrow multiplayer.KAL2006 said:an actual Gears of War VS Halo game would be pretty cool and I bet it would sell tons if that happened. the only problem is whether to make it a FPS or a TPS

If this is something from 343i, given the technical staff they have there, it could be this.

As of 2011, Corrinne Yu is currently Principal Engine Programmer on Microsoft's Halo team, and first-party Halo games Lead. Yu is the first and only female Technical Lead of the whole of Microsoft Game Studios and was a founding member of Microsoft's Direct 3D Advisory Board. Previously she participated in CUDA and GPU simulation at NVidia.[1] She continues to review the designs of new iterations of Direct3D.[2]
Besides Halo team, Yu programmed as Lead Engine Programmer of the Prey engine at 3D Realms, and as Director of Technology of ION Storm, creator of Anachronox and Deus Ex[3] and as Director of Technology of Gearbox Software, creator of Brothers in Arms and Borderlands.[4]
Besides working as a game programmer, Yu programmed on the Space Shuttle program at Rockwell International California. She designed and conducted accelerator experiments at LINAC in California and the accelerator at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Her nuclear physics research won her a national award from the U.S. Department of Energy.[5]
In 2009, Corrinne Yu won Best in Engineering internationally at GDC (Game Developers Conference) WiG nominated and judged by a panel of her industry peers for the last 2 years in a row, for her work in programming.[6]
In 2010, Yu was identified by Kotaku as one of the 10 most influential women in games in the last decade. She is the only director of technology, and the only engine programmer, on this list.[7]

Okay. So if you're not interested in the game, why post in the thread? So everyone knows your opinion about it? Or are you here to just troll?King of the Potato People said:The original Halo was barely above mediocrity, a few of the Covenant weapons were interesting and so was the visual style. It became extremely repetitive after the opening spectacle had worn off, so obviously I wouldn't waste my money on a potential remake. The term 'classic' is handed out too easily these days.

Well I myself don't think the graphics are going to be as great as Crysis 2 or even be as many other titles releasing this year. I do however have faith in the engine to provide big playable landscapes with plenty of enemies on-screen and interesting physics/animations. The original game showed it's age within a couple months but it's huge battles and it's engine made me and many others come back to it. I spent more time fooling around trick jumping with warthogs than actual multiplayerSmision said:ok, well, I thought everyone knew by now that games look as good as the company is willing to pay for and invest time in. Microsoft can hire all the talent they want, but if they told the team to plop out a quick halo remake, that's what we'll get.

Damn xbox live for killing LAN parties. My lazy friends rarely meet up to play anymore because we can play Reach over LiveSmision said:SMB1 doesn't have spin jumps, raccoon suits, and other crap like that but its still a classic that started off a huge phenomenon, just like Halo 1.
also, it's mostly remembered for its MP, not SP.

BroHuffman said:It doesn't make sense to release a Halo shooter this year. Two exclusive shooters released in back to back months, you're going to be killing your own sales.
If Gears was going to be released earlier, as it was originally planned, then I could see a Halo game in the Sept/October window. But since they moved Gears for reasons other that it wasn't done, having it battle for sales vs Halo is a terrible move.
I think a non shooter Halo releasing is more realistic than HD remake or Halo 4.
I'm interested in posting about the franchise and my mixed feelings about the first title. If the developers could spice up the structure in a remake, then great yet it'd take a lot to get me interested in purchasing a Halo game. I loved the design of the Halo world itself, however me and my friend gradually got bored of running through samey corridors and bridges. Of course, there's the hordes of the Flood who significantly increase the repetitiveness.Dax01 said:Okay. So if you're not interested in the game, why post in the thread? Chittagong said:343i can make Halo the best FPS ever by fixing Bungie's shitty online. The biggest problem in Reach and all online Halos before it is players dropping out and matches dropping out of balance, a CoD-like join-anytime system completely removes this problem.
I really love Halo MP gameplay, but the online system is just too frustrating.

Your post came off as an excuse to troll more than anything. I have no interest in a, say, a new MGS1 remake because I don't like MGS, but I'm not going to post in a thread about it to bash the game in a manner that says, "My opinion must be heard!"King of the Potato People said:I'm interested in posting about the franchise and my mixed feelings about the first title.
