Rumour: Agent Trademark Renewed

Well Take Two's investors call a few weeks ago said Rockstar would be unveiling their new "projects soon", and we pretty much know for a fact Red Dead is one of them so the other could be Agent?

Can you imagine the possibilities for next Monday?! A new Red Dead trailer during MS conference with the bonus that preordering the game on the Xbox Store gives you RDR digitally and it's now BC starting "right now!" and then AGENT re-revealed after Jack Tretton makes a surprise appearance on Sony's stage during their conference. lol

Because of the latest rumors surrounding Rockstar, a lot of the R* or GTA community that Rockstar or even various outlets themselves follow, are all talking about Red Dead being revealed at E3 as if it's a certainty.

I'm genuinely curious as to whether some people are excited for Agent because it's Rockstar, or because of some stupid list wars agenda and they're presuming it's still Sony exclusive.

It's not happening*.

*Said everyone about FF7 remake

However, it's Agent... It stretches back to Jackie T. I can't believe.

I have never seen anything about Agent to warrant the 5-10 people on NeoGaf who keep posting about it.

Without a doubt some probably just want to see how a Rockstar game going platform exclusive does. However I think most people are just interested when Rockstar do something different than GTA and the fact this game has gained a cult following due to it going completely silent.

I guess given that you have to use it within 5 years nowadays and they have no reason to renew a trademark unless they intend to use it... I dunno, I think it says something.

It probably means they still plan on releasing it eventually. The renewal just isn't necessarily a sign they'll be re-announcing Agent at E3.

Edit: According USPTO records, they file the extension roughly every November/December and May/June.

People still think it's going to be exclusive?

Good luck trying to sell that to Take Two after GTA V's sales lol, they'll change the name to get around that deal if it's still in place.

I hope it's not PS exclusive because then I'd have to buy a PS :(

It would be really funny to see Crash and Agent sharing a conference with The Last Guardian, Shenmue III and FFVII Remake.

That's not entirely true. If you haven't used it within 5 years you can still renew through a section 8 declaration.

I don't know why people even care though. We know literally next to nothing about the game.

What is to get excited about?

As a pious member of the TLG cult whose faith in the game held strong even against the constant naysayers, I feel like I'm on the outside looking in now. You AGENT believers are crazy.

This game is dead, Jim.

Trademarks for old and dormant franchises and titles get renewed all the time, I don't think anything should be read into this. Just them protecting a trademark.

Marked under intent to use, and also you can't hang onto a trademark you don't intend to commercialise, you need to show some form of evidence for a renewal after a specific number of renewals. 'Agent' is a common term and you can bet other companies may want to own that too.

That's pretty standard no? They have the logo on their site since the day it was announced. They never said the IP is cancelled. So I wouldn't read too much into it. Not the first time they have renewed it.
